4 Year Olds Make Waffles

I love how camera man dad is 'that' parent. I've never heard him comment from behind the camera, but he just had to stop his boy from eating raw egg and watch out for the sneezing 😂 they are adorable. Lucky boys to have such a loving home environment 🥰

I know - I was about to say the same thing - thing is - kids eat the grossest things - he has no idea what those kids are putting in their mouths when hes not watching! Kids eat their own snot for heavens sake...kids that grow up in such sterile protective environments do not end up with the best immune systems. The tone of Brians voice was bordering anger and anxiety all mixed together. John did a good job of just moving on and letting it go. John youre a great dad - you know whats really important! The fun and being part of the process and being included! No serious health risk in lick of fingers there.

I used to be a preschool teacher and this definitely reminded me to cooking with the kids. Baking with 18-20 preschoolers made for one cup turning into 4 1/4th cups..you know just for fairness and making sure everyone got a turn. Some days things turned out wonderfully, while other days were just about the process..haha!

We take waffles seriously in our house kzbin.infoUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn and worked our old one through many years of Sunday brunches till it finally gave out on us. Our old one only made two at a time, this one makes four! Nicely sized 1 inch thick which are lovely! Now the kids don't have to wait as long to eat our weekly waffle breakfast and everyone's are hot if we wait and eat all together! Setting 3 seems to work perfect for golden brown. Be sure to pour the batter in the center of each waffle square, not the center of the iron like the novice that posted the scorched waffles photo. About a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of batter in each seemed to work well for us. We tested making just one at a time so we could use all the remaining batter and it made it just as fluffy and golden as when we made 4!

I felt this video. Pure flashbacks to baking with my younger two when they were smaller. They are 13 months apart, so not twins, but they always had that same energy of keeping everything fair and even and taking turns with everything. Barely managing the chaos was the only reasonable goal with cooking activities 😂

Your wonderful Dad & Sons video reminds me of when I was around 9 years old and my brother was nearing 14 years old, our father had us in the kitchen showing us how to fry peaches. We were at the stove with 3 smaller iron skillets going and while we worked around learning our father's favorite fun thing to cook we also talked about lots of other things. Our father never did a lot of cooking. What meant the most was my brother and me sharing such rare times with him in the kitchen and many more times outdoors where he was more at home. Sharing times together as a family always creates the best memories we call our lives. I'm almost 63 now and my father and brother are in Eternity. Memories are everything to me now. ...I wish the best for you and your husband and sons...keep on cooking up the memories!

It's so important to get children in the kitchen. I would have my five year old help me when baking. Now at ten, I can leave him with a recipe and let him mise en place before I start. He can even make breakfast sometimes for the family.

Oh gosh yes, John. More of the boys would be so fun. I was laughing as they were adding in ingredients, not at them, but at you. I could see the sheer panic in your eyes and brain going into overload.. "OMG! That whole egg and shell did not just fall into the measuring cup?! That's it! EVERYONE out of my kitchen!" lol sorry Brian couldn't be in there with his little matching shirt and apron. Would have been so cute. Love to all.

Watching you and the cameraman with these boys was delightful! They are adorable. I love that you dressed them just like you! My favorites were the whole egg in the bowl, then tipping all the strained no-no’s right back into the bowl and of course, the sneeze ‘next to’ the bowl. I like syrup times a hundred too! 4 yrs old is a great toddler/preschool age. You are creating great memories for them. They’re going to grow up learning from you.
