Hi ! I usually enjoy your reviews. But this one was particularly Spot on. I remember telling myself that theres something off about the writing this season when in the end i ended up rooting for Aadil and Faiza. Many reviewers have observed this issue that Made in heaven season 2 tries too hard to make everyone happy. Its almost like the target audience for this season was the ideological troll on Twitter and Instagram who evaluates any show/ movie on the basis of its ability to tick some boxes. For them, there was the quintessential episode on violence against women, a transgender character, a dalit wedding etc. Now I don't have an issue with these topics being included. The season one also tackled some social issues. But the issues were something that were discovered by the protagonist while doing their job and they were not problem solvers but they navigated those circumstances. So the show was not telling is what should be done but it was showing us the reality. That seems to have lost this season. The lesson that needs to be imparted is predecided and that is what guides the story and character arcs. One can't help but be suffocated by the generic commentary at the end of every episode especially because of its patronizing tone and virtue signalling like character. I also agree that it was very difficult to relate with Tara and Karan this season. Despite Shobhita and Arjun's stellar performances, their characters compel you to dislike them. You sympathised with tara because not because you belived what she did was right but because her actions were a symptom of her circumstances and there was a vulnerability in her moral subversion. This season her subversions and transgressions were without any vulnerability. And that can be very difficult to relate with because it marks such a stark departure from season one. With respect to Arjun I have an unpopular opinion. I know nothing about Arjun except for the fact that hes gay and all his life's struggles are related to this fact of his existence. As a gay man, i find it very reductive and limiting. I dont know how much of this was inevitable given that we live in a time where superficial gestures and rhetorics of inclusion, diversity etc is given precedence over nuanced story telling. And in a time where mobs of social justice warriors on the left sanghis on the right await with baited breath shows like this that they can hammer with and shred to pieces for their ideological agendas. Lastly, I found the long duration of shows difficult to sit through. They could have cut down the minutes from each episide and incorporated another episode or something like that! Phew, sorry for this long comment!

This season of Made in Heaven is a big let down for so many reasons and on so many levels. Firstly, its mostly in English language... speaking in English among themselves already makes indians a bigtime laughing stock in front of the foreigners, the obsession of filmmakers to keep Hindi dialogues to minimum was sooo sooo annoying that after a point it started feeling so artificial... forced and plastic... if i have to watch an english series, I would rather watch something original by native english speakers... instead of watching these brown skinned yet white wannabee high society morons in india (sorry for sounding racist, but english speaking indians are infact so annoying... one should know english but not flaunt it everywhere...!!! Bollywood Nepos... learn something from the West... they laugh at u when u speak in english among yourselves)... Secondly, all the issues raised in the series appeared so forced, and nothing was organic... The first season was much better in that respect... here, even issues like sexuality, introduction of a trans-gender character without any depth, caste issues without any depth... seemed very shallow... this show neither qualifies as fantastical as GoT or House of Dragons... nor it seems in the totally realistic zone ..... its basically a khichdi made to tick all boxes... to project themselves as woke and progressive... but the truth is that the story has no soul... when will indian filmmakers learn from series like Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, succession, White Lotus, Only murders in the building, Komisky Method... that there is a lot beyond just making statements without any soul.. no character development... nothing.. a big thumbs down!!!

Made in heaven ke chuntiye filmmakers ko Hollywood mein kaam karna chahiye... 2 din mein apni aukat pata lag jaayegi inhe wahan... yahan indian audience ko nakli angrezi bol ke tatti paros rahe hain yeh angrezon ki dum... koi originality nhi... koi depth nhi... koi character development nhi... bus sabse angrezi bulwaake aur mehangi cheejon ki aad mein apna budget bada ke amazon ka chuntiya kaat diya ... !!! 30 percent english aur 70 percent hindi hoti toh smajh aata ki indians ke liye show banaya hai high society ka... but isme 99 percent english aur 1 percent hindi daal ke yeh kis audience ke liye show bana rahe hain...!!! The Buddhist Dalit wedding sequence was the only wedding sequence that touched me... Like it was so beautifully shot. I got goosebumps. The last episode where the bride gives an elaborate speech about self love was cringe af. The last episode should have been extremely impactful...it failed miserably. Also Really started hating Tara's character but I guess that's how real people are. Not every protagonist has to be morally upright.

I like the Christian wedding, the one where the groom has abandoned the bride, so she pledges to love herself in front of her family and friends. I also liked the wedding in Nice although those people were horrible. My only dislike was that the show focused too much on issues that had nothing to do with weddings. I did love Bulbul's story, a strong woman that has survived hell.

The ONLY time you feel for Tara in the ENTIRE SEASON is when she stares at the baby pram being carved. THAT hurt her. Not the cheating. When she'd left, that dialogue had so much impact. The marriage isn't working. I cheated. You cheated. That was gold. She was self aware even if she was evil, she'd got her karmic balance, it seemed. But now? The way she found love, happiness but is obsessed with money. Karan was even worse than Tara. HOW can someone root for him? What scene was supposed to humanize him? If anything, you hate him. On such a large scale it perpetuates that women marry for divorce, that all are gold diggers! Even when they're the ONES BEING TORTURED. That hero was clearly playing games! To gaslight her like that? It seemed like the impossible weddings went through just so that they could get their money!! In a way we are like Karan's mother on a deathbed wondering HOW do you expect us to root for you? How? You take advantage of EVERY man you date. Even that 5 lakh loan giving fashion designer. Like what was his fault? How did he make you "uncomfortable" by trying to listen to your problems that you just leave him like that? From one to the other. No feelings. No emotions. No loyalty. Why do we need to see their sexual lives? Anyone's? I just wanted story. It sounds so good in pitch. Lavish wedding management. And drama. But WHERE IS the drama?

THE ENGLISH PART WAS SO ACCURATE. It seemed so unnatural. I would cringe everytime Karan spoke to his parents in English, LOL. I mean I feel like it was too forced. Even the choice of words, weren't those that are used in everyday life. I really liked Tara less and less as the season flew by lol. My favorite story arc was Bulbul & Jauhari's. And the episode with Murnal Thakur broke my heart when it ended, it triggered me, ugh!

When you make a show that is set in north india and have so many characters that are portrayed as coming from middle class and hindi speaking families from delhi, making them talk in English seems so unreasonable and unrelatable. ​@@TriedRefusedProductionswhat I didn't like in Radhika Apte's episode is that her husband doesn't have any real push back, when she tries to demonize intra caste marriages. He is simply unaware of the goof and bad of caste, it seems. Intra caste marriages are as practical in terms of compatibility of "culture, customs, good, life aspirations, and generational skill sets" as an inter caste couple who look for compatibility in lifestyles before deciding to marry. Also, intra caste marriages will have much more compatibility from both families side. As is, breakups and divorces are happening for some really crazy and simple reasons. In such a world, if one chooses to play safe and stick to their roots, I don't see anything wrong.

The only character that stood out to me in season 2 is Bulbul Jauhari!! Someone who relates more strongly to women, especially those who have experienced abuses all her life, as she personally navigated through similar ordeals. I hope I'm trying to keep spoilers off-limits but I loved the scene where Bulbul let Jaspreet to have the foreigners attend the weddings until she secures enough money for her brother's rehab. That's commendable!! 👏

Initially, I thought that she did wrong to the family but Adil had cheated on his first fiance with Tara. Later cheated on Tara with Faiza. And again cheated on Faiza with Tara, be it even for one moment!! I liked her response to her mother-in-law about respect. A sudden character arc would have been surprising. Wishful thinking: she sells the house instead of moving in.

I guess everyone feels that way. Maybe directors wanted to show the grayness of her character..But it was not gray anymore, it was all dark. The way she seduced Adil. All of it. And on the other hand she was coming across this goody two shoes at her work during various social injustice situations in the various weddings. It was contradictory and confusing. The characters I liked were Adil (clear headed), Faiza (humane) and Raghav (extremely grounded and decent). At one point Karan's downward spiral was exasperating. Both Tara and Karan were exasperating.

I can't believe people are actually rooting for Aadil. He seems like the most despicable character for me because he continuously cheats on the women he's apparently in "love" with. To me, Raghav seemed more like a rebound for Tara after Aadil. A major reason she married Aadil was to get to the status she always craved for (and what was expected of her by her mother). She could not achieve that with Raghav and felt like she was dating "down" from what she was used to. She had to reformulate her lifestyle because of her divorce but she never stopped being power hungry. This is apparent in how she felt while interacting with Raghav's family- she notes that there's no "hidden agendas" which was a contrast to how she was brought up and how her in-laws functioned. She always (like them) functioned because of "hidden agendas".

You know There's an entire core reason that Tara first seeks the company shares then the house. First, she asks for company shares when she was confirmed Faiza is pregnant. There was a touch and go moment where she was genuinely upset that Faiza's getting to be a mother and she's without child. She asks for the house when she sees her so called mother in law who wanted her back in the house few days back is now creating a nursery for Faiza's kid. The Faiza whom she never even liked in the first place. They showed this genuine khunnas waala part very upar uparse. Had they explored or emphasised on it more, Tara's shitty acts would've been less shittier.

The fact that Tara's character remains grey is actually thought provoking and what I feel is a masterpiece which stands out. The fact that you do not have to portray the lead in a stereotypical good light is actually something which matches with reality. Faiza's character though small, seemed balanced. I think it was for the audience to understand that Adil is actually an unstable character. It is not actually Faiza or Tara. I realised that Tara has been brought up in such a manner that love has never taken the front foot in her life, ever. That is where Faiza at-least wins. The way in which Karan was processing his mother's ill health and death was done beautifully. True, the last episode was stupid. There was better scope to explore the arc of Kabir and Jazz. Also, the english speaking was unnecessary. Renewed or not I think season 2 was not that bad.

Season 1 was definitely a masterpiece. It was like visually watching a best written novel written on modern India and it was concluded in such a beautiful way. That scene of Tara wearing all the jewellery in the last episode of season 1 had such a deep meaning about the whole journey of her character in that season and when she delivered that speech to those girls in her old grooming school to not lose their individuality atleast. The lead characters relate themselves with the weddings and sometimes dive into their past lives with that beautiful background score - I loved it all. Now coming back to season 2 , it seemed to me the lead characters lost that substance from inside of them. It seemed to me like whole season was written in a rush and that is such a joke considering they took 4 years. Each and every wedding of season 1 left something deep in your heart but this season it was all preachy. And yes “ultra wokism” is killing this show too. Karan stealing 18 lakh from his own company and then having no consequences was simply a lazy writing. Deep down if you think about these characters you can still justify their actions ( Tara was so hurt , Karan mother saying you are killing me , I did not raise a girl ) but still “something” definitely missing from the core of these characters or may be our expectations were really high after such a great original season. Bulbul Jee was the best thing about this season and sadly Trinetra can’t act with same expressions in everything. Hopefully they return to original writers and director and their basic roots of season 1 for the next season. I will rate this season 7/10 considering first one was 9.5/10 ❤

I thought Mrunal’s story was portrayed pretty well, especially that last scene where you can see how sad everyone is for her to be married. It shows how to portray hard truths without romanticizing them. However, beyond that and the Dalit wedding, much of this season was lacking in the subtlety and nuance that the writing in season 1 had, which is why it worked when characters did take a big stand, like leaving their wedding when asked for dowry. Those moments had so much more impact, in season 1, but not as much in season 2.

The cycle of abuse keeps going when the perpetrator manipulates the victim into believing that he loves them that every act of theirs seems justified and that it was just a one-off incident. It takes a lot of time for the victims of abuse to get out of the cycle of abuse.

I enjoyed this season too as the first one. I felt this season was more about every character's darker side as a human. In the recent times movies/series have time and again pushed the audience to ponder if the protaganist is actually the one they must be rooting for. For example Tara is a gold-digger but is she worse than Adil the prvileged brat who does not want to part away from a small part of his dad's company even though he has enough? Karan who loses complete control on his own life is still able to spot a mother-child relation being strained in his clients, does he deserve to give that gyan? To conclude I felt this season did bring out the shades of grey of humans.

At the end of the series....I was just like how many partners does karan have in total....because it got to a point where I couldn't keep up. The characters kept going in the same loop over and over again I agree that Tara's character is not good... I mean it was established in s1 itself...but she going for their family home made me disconnect with her and I lost her!! At this point cheating is not even considered as a deal breaker ... every1s cheating on everybody Btw Mona singh was a delight on screen I knew I would like her after watching the teaser!! The only episode I thought got somewhere was radhika aptes episode(it wasn't perfect tho) A dalit from an elite class who faces the same discrimination despite achieving so much was such a fresh take

I think what they wanted to portray about Tara was that she was not liking how a room was being setup for Faiza's baby, making it apparent that her Mother in law has accepted them and they will be living happily as a family in that home where she wanted to be with her baby. It did not come across properly but I think that's what they were going for.

I respect your opinion. But i do think that Tara coming for the house is somewhat really justice to her character. Because She was setting for half of the company, but when she saw Bindu getting adjusted to her Son's new life, she was distracted, and I remember she said something like this adjust karna padhega. I think Tara would definitely deserve even after cheating upon her that they were not ready to give her what she deserves. She came into this marriage to settle her life, so why would her character settle for this. It might be toxic on real life, but as a character, I do feel that was necessary.

Totally agree. Also have you noticed even though the skin color issue was addressed in the first episode, everyone from the team was almost few shades lighter in the next ones? There were no imperfections, they were always glowing, always spot on with hair and make up. I can accept it for Tara may be as her character was portrayed like that in season 1 as well, but for everyone else it looked so fake. Even after losing gallons of bloods, Diya Mirza's (forgot her character's name) pink lipstick and absolutely impeccable hair made it impossible for me to connect emotionally.

I wouldn’t root for the relationship of Adil and Faiza. 1. Faiza cheated on Tara and also got pregnant while the divorce wasn’t finalized . When Faiza called ‘Tara’ manipulative , hee therapist did ask her ‘ why did you decide to get pregnant’. This was Faiza’ way of not loosing Adil. 2. Like Tara is a gold digger , Adil is a cheater . He cheated even on Faiza , and gave his home only out of fear . Lot of people didn’t like the final episode . I don’t agree with most but it’s better to party and stay single rather than get into a wrong marriage . It was revealed in the final episode that Mrunal ultimately filed a police case against her husband .

I found Tara’s and Karan’s journeys quite natural from where they were left by the end of season 1. Tara was always manipulative and a gold digger and heavily influenced/brainwashed by her gold digging mother and she did show the semblance of redemption or humanity when she looked after her niece and initially agreed to the terms of her divorce settlement. Throughout season 2, it can be seen how she is still so stuck in her old lifestyle and how hard she tried to fit into that world which she manipulated her way into but would never be accepted because of her background. Towards the end, it became sort of a revenge where she knows that she would never command respect because of where she comes from and wanted to hit Adil n her family where it can hurt them the most and she lost a genuine guy because of it. Infact it felt quite fitting to see that she cannot just shed off the years of who she has been, just like that and become an overall better human being. Karan had even worse because a mother who is supposed to know, understand and accept her child unconditionally is not able to accept him. His anger towards his mother broke him to disastrous levels and he could not be a bigger person to forgive her because of all the abuse he got from her. Once again, it felt quite fitting that he could not say goodbye to her and that broke him even more because the recipient of his anger is gone and he does not know how to resolve it anymore. Trinetra’s character did not work for me a lot because she had to be given more to deal with than just her sexuality. However, that also kinda made sense in some way because may be, that is all she has to deal with throughout and constantly. I never rooted for Tara, so I think it's fine that way. I feel this season almost made her despicable for me with the lengths she is ready to go to for the riches. I think Season 2 of Made In Heaven is to season 1 like how Delhi Crime Season 2 was to 1. The impact is not as deep as it was the first time. Mona Singh and Vijay Raaz are wonderful, Mona Singh's character is the highlight for me.

Expect for Bulbul ji and Mehar’s storyline, it’s like you’re stuck in the constant loop of some unnecessary dilemmas. I absolutely adore the idea of coming up with complex issues involving each of the couples, but when you’ve had character development stories for each of MIH employees, you rather focus on the aspects of them working as a team to do what they do, and that’s plan a fucking wedding. Every episode you have Karan or Tara pitching an idea, the bride and groom immediately accepting it and then cut to them asking the same question in every episode - “ab yeh shaadi hogi na?” After an absolute beauty of a first episode, the show just feels like that piece of content that raises questions on what it could’ve easily been - a comfort flick that teaches, but it simply becomes a mixture of everything that it didn’t need to be.

This Season left everyone craving for more...more depth, more justice to the reasons for their deeds and consequences, a deep dive into nuances of the lives of the characters, more to what could've been, more justice to the long wait for S2, better exploration of potential of Gauri Khanna, Ishwak's character, Adil and Faiza's wedding, Meher's life, a touch of real life issues of LGBTQIA+ community beyond just finding partners to give a better understanding and depth, exploring the greys in all with more grace or sometimes just without any grace for the sake of keeping it real and the conclusive lines which aren't just messages but sometimes opinions or open ended predicaments... Mona Singh was such a delight to watch...You can never get enough of Mrunal Thakur and the wonderful, effortless Radhika Apte saved some grace of S2!

Mona Singh stole the show this season and the story arc she had was the best I also felt that Tara was not completely money driven , in the end she takes the house because she felt hurt seeing how easily she was being replaced , the final nail being when she sees her old room being renovated for Faiza and her mother in law also moving on. So she took the thing that costs a lot monetarily ( Tara’s usual self) and emotionally for Adil’s family ( her revenge from being hurt)

The last episode was the worst. It ended so abruptly that I was actually confused that my subscription ended or what. In putting together every issue in the series, it kinda neglected those issues. Also, I agree with Meher's character arc being a broken piece. She was just a trans character and nothing more. Also, Karan's character arc involving drugs seemed unnecessary to me. I was rooting for no one in the series. It felt disconnected.

Well I didn't dislike the season this much but mostly agree with the points. Show felt parody of itself, and show using english in unrealistic situations probably for Emmy contention is a great catch. I did love the first episode for calling out people's obsession and insecurity with skin tone and plainly speaking to camera "being fairer is not pretty but just fairer". I don't mind that specific topic being so on the nose. Specially in a time when so many celebs obviously go through such treatments, without realizing how it can affect their younger fans who are very impressionable. What I really felt missing was development of character arcs within the show. Over the course of seven episodes, none of the characters seemed to undergo any meaningful progression. I was actually surprised when Prime didn't show the popup for next episode and I realized it was season and most likely series finale.

I think the heart was missing this season, that would make us feel connected to the characters being portrayed, new or old, despite the stranger than fiction opulence & snobbery of the clients. The season wanted to explore sensitive topics & relationship concepts that needed ample nuance but fails to even flesh out people's motivations properly. To me, the Mona Singh - Vijay Raaz family arc was probably the only one that made the sitting a bit worthwhile.

OMG!! Finally someone said it out loud! Spot on review here. This fell so flat in its storytelling that in a span of 7 episodes, I went from rooting for Tara, Karan and the whole MIH team to now no longer even caring about them being re-cast in a subsequent season! I'd much rather watch a spinoff about the Jauharis and Faiza-Adil! S1 was one of my most favorite shows and I waited for S2 with such bated breath. Probably the pressure got to the storytellers but it's too colossal a disappointment given the amount of time the makers got to come up with a befitting continuation. While the show is very elite-focused and brings out the darker undertones of that strata of society, it just got unbearably woke this season. Not everything necessarily has to come with a social jhanda simply to tick off boxes to please the woke junta of Insta and Twitter!

The best scene in the entire series has to be the last (wedding) scene of Mrunal. The pain looks so real and raw in everyone’s faces, kudos to whoever directed this. The rest of the series was rubbish! No cliff hangers so not waiting or wanting S3. Why is there a need for everyone to be fluent in English in this series, I could swear that Jazz didn’t speak good English in the last series and also was made of fun for that very reason, how did she pick up the language so well in just 6 months and how is she able to afford all the western clothes?!?!

I actually find Jazz's arc to be very natural. She obviously got exposed to the language and their dressing sense and picked up that. You'd be surprised by how often people change in a few months because of this. She must have gotten used to hearing her co-workers speak the language (obviously because all of them are from high society and continuously converse in English). If you watch closely, you'll realise that she's one of the few characters that still replies in hindi for most part to a lot of the conversations among the other employees that take part in English. And for the clothes part, she was just a young, fresh employee in S1. I'm sure she earned a decent pay overtime to afford better clothes. And she was always dressed in accordance with her background as well, you can still see that she doesn't blend in entirely and that her clothes aren't a match when compared to characters like Tara or even Dilshad for that matter, but it's evident that she could upgrade her previous wardrobe.

Also i feel that few of other loopholes with the writing of this season are : 1) Story arc of karan with debt and his argument with tara is brushed off soo quickly under the carpet like there was a rush to move on with it, no explanations, no confrontations, even karan moving from his addictions like it was a fluke, how lightly these arcs are brushed off 2) Arjun's relation with his previous landlord's daughter aka his "foster child" ... She notices his behavior but then there's no closure on that part 3) i feel that there's some biases when it comes to showing actions of an individual in either positive/negative arc... For eg i don't think in Ep3 Sanjay kapoor and the other lady deseved to have left like that and yet their partner's infidelity was shown as "Union of Love" Blah blah... I guess it comes on to us what we as humans justify or don't, according to our own convienence. 4) Also in S1...MIH was shown as two planners who involuntarily get caught up in between personal conflicts of marriages.. And they have to find a way to deal with them but...in this season they seem like social workers out on a mission to fight every injustice in marriages. Why would any marriage planner get involved voluntarily while going out of their way for clients... Is MIH a new NGO 5) Characters like Jazz and Kabir's arc seemed like extension love story that wasn't needed.. The attention it was given in S1 was appropriate this one seemed like a stretch to their personal arcs rather than connecting them to either with a social commentary/overall story 6) Best for the last..or shall i say worst for the last...The ending seemed too rushed up and the last marriage story was such a disaster... The forced amount of positivity in its ending scene when the bride takes those vows to herself.. I think realistically or logically, there would be crickets at such a ceremony.. And then every character's arc for so rushed away with soo quickly.. PS : Kudos to Vikrant Massey and Ishwaq singh for their absolutely charming performances.. 👑✨

1. True, Karan quit drugs cold turkey, no rehab, no shakes, one day he's a junky, next day his not. As for his debt, he stole the money and got away from it, Tara got a loan from her former mother-in-law, and paid her back by stealing her house in the divorce settlement. 6. I thought the bride taking those vows alone was very powerful. The money has already been spent, the food and drinks await, why waste it? Self-love is so important, and the reality is that loser groom belongs in Berkeley, and she's better off as a single-mother.

MIH depicts the 5% population of India with the rich and show off culture who talks English only to yap around to sound "educated".... Coming to the storyline, yes there were some serious issues like dark skin, physical abuse, dalit wedding, lesbian wedding, polygamy, etc that were portrayed well.... What was missing was the emotions behind every wedding... It seemed like nobody is really happy from inside, they're just doing it to maintain a family-social image.... Many of the weddings showed how mostly the women compromised the shortcomings and decided to move ahead even after knowing it's consequences.... Call me cold, but I could not shed a single teardrop because I dint feel connected throughout the series.... However, I loved Mona Shah's role in this as a worried mother and her acting skills kept me hooked up for a while.... I also liked the trans girl's story and way of thinking....Perhaps she was the only character in the entire series who was clean with no double strings going along side by side.... I dint at all connect with Kabir-Jaz's romance though....The lite version of Sharukh and Jaz going to the mechanic for emotional support totally lost me.... All in all, I was just waiting for this series to get over ASAP and I even checked in between how many episodes are left.... I would therefore recommend the filmmakers and the viewers to focus on real life based content and work around it because this series is only for the 5% population that survives on killing their inner selves by pleasing the world by creating fake identities for themselves.... This is not the world a regular human likes to live in... By showing off your richness even at the cost of selling your souls and morals... It is perhaps very demeaning to watch the high class and the rich to even follow these kind of ridiculous customs on dark skin, polygamy, physical abuse, etc....

Tara always valued money over family, except when it came to a child. Season 1 showed us the lengths she would go for getting what she wanted. Starting from a receptionist who crossed paths with Adil then joining his office. She was content with the alimony in the starting, but she went off the deep end when she discovered the pregnancy. She was hurt by the cheating but the pregnancy destroyed her. So, I understand the revenge track to an extent. As for Karan, his relationship with his mother just made me angry. He was like Mrunal’s character. Always waiting for the abuser to show even a little love. I didn’t care for even a single episode this season. Except Vikrant and Arjun scenes. Nawab is Karan’s anchor, I will fight you if you say otherwise. I was rooting for them. Another couple I was rooting for were Nadeem and Jazz. I felt that Nadeem understood her more than Kabir does. Then entire season was disappointing. Now I am glad that I didn’t watch Red white and royal blue before MIH.

I'm so glad you commented on the overload of English. I had the same thought that they were catering to the International Emmys. And I was so confused why suddenly they were making Adil and Faiza so likable. Faiza was unhinged in the previous season, where she couldn't see the error of her ways of being in a relationship with a married man. And the growth they showed for Tara went down the drain; I get what they were trying to show, that she's under her mom's influence, but it's like S1 Tara didn't happen at all. Additionally, does nobody in MIH know what a committed relationship is? I notice this a lot in medical or law dramas. What engaged the audience in the first season, i.e .the cases, are forgotten or on the back burner for Season 2 to focus more on the characters. I get that, but it takes away the aspect that people liked about the show in the first place. Especially if your characters stopped being likable. I was also annoyed that Meher's only character trait was that she was always looking for dates. Dating for a trans person must be very hard but I'm sure that's not the only issue they face. Bulbul was the best character. It must be scary for a mother to see her child becoming increasingly misogynistic. I liked that she had the moral standard to take her son to the police, which, as much as we want this to be true, would highly be unlikely in the real world. Even if you introduce a social message in each episode, they need to spend more time delving into it, otherwise it feels superficial and virtue-signaling.

I think keeping Arjun and Shobita's characters morally ambiguous is a great decision. Their grey shades make them more human and interesting to me, and they are still likeable because most of the times they do realize what they are doing and try to make up. I completely agree with you on the english dialogue part and the last episode though. And yes they probably chew a tad too much than they can swallow. But I enjoyed the commentary at the end by Shashank however generic it might seem, probably because I am too passionate about the issues those stories and the commentary portray. Rooting for Adil and Faiza is I think a success for the makers. This is not a typical bollywood movie where there is a typical antagonist whom you should hate. Also regarding the character of Trinetra, I think she has experienced so much in her life that small setbacks like being thrown out of a car do not affect her that much any more. I felt that and hence that seemed realistic to me. She was shown as a strong and resilient woman. Also I really loved that Arjun and his mother never reconciled even when she was on death bed. And then the conversation between Arjun and Vikrant was real gold.

I honestly liked every episode and how every social issue was tackled by the show, even at the cost of being "preachy". The one with the Fair-skin obsession hit specially close to home. I live in Delhi and my own Cousin (with somewhere between wheatish to dusky complexion and beautiful big eyes, she is the prettiest Girl I swear to God) was taking some wedding make-up package from a very well known Salon for 3 months. We never really understood why she had to in the first place but as distant cousins, we had no say. It was Love marriage where there was no pressure from her in-laws to look a certain way (at least none that we could see). Her skin broke out the day before her Mehendi. My God, what a nightmare it was for the whole family with some even contemplating postponing the wedding. Her Father threatened legal action on the Salon, who had the audacity to say "Had you taken one-year package we would have more time to study your skin and suggest and improvise products accordingly." Ultimately, She got married on the day as was planned. The Salon people did her make-up but to cover up the marks, they lathered her face with too too much make-up. She did not look herself, did not feel herself, was self-conscious the entire wedding and sadly, couldn't enjoy her own day. What irks me the most is the lack of Sensitivity some people have in our family. Some people watching the wedding album would comment "I told you so", "What was the need?", making her re-visit her ordeal.

Unpopular opinion here, But I just finished watching Season 2 and I loved it mostly. Yes, some improvements could have been made. But over all I enjoyed it. Tara's character arc this season was spot one. Someone who literally is cunning enough to get the rich life, obviously won't have a realization or anything. She clearly knows what she's doing and the sacrifices that come with it. Jazz and Kabir's story felt repeated though the same will they won't they thing. Loved Bulbul and Jauhari arc was definitely my favorite. While Meher was Meh for me apart from her dating life I wish they showed the actual struggles of a Trans person, like India is still not that progressed yet. I wish like Karan in the previous season Meher's arc had an emotional impact. Personally, for me, the worst was Karan's storyline. honestly apart from being gay what else does the show offer us?

Things that really touched my heart in this series: - bulbul johari character and her family arc - the ending scene of episode 2 ( of domestic abuse) was so heartbreaking yet impactful.. everyone was sad that the bride was going to suffer but couldn't do anything... specially when Mona Singh started crying..so emotional - Buddhist wedding was so ethereal.. beautifully shot and narrated towards the end - Meher's arc - last but not the least it was Karan who stole the limelight, despite of all the mess he was going through he kept his empathy and sensitivity towards others specially hos interaction with the little boy and how he saved Diya Mirza and gave her strength .. his character showed that no matter how much weak we are, if we keep our humanity, we can be a hero in somebody's life :) Overall I liked this season as well.. looking forward to season 3

in 1st season i loved the fact that even tho some people will see Tara as a grey character you'd still root for her and feel her reactions, her decisions were justifiable she did nothing wrong. She tried hard to be a part of something influential sure she chose some wrong way but it was not harming anyone.. She stayed true to herself and she emerged as someone even stronger till the end. but in 2nd season i felt she was just wrong in almost all level, she has no personality of her own everything is instigated by her mother she is somehow lost and she did end up being a gold digger. i ended up wishing good for Adil and Faiza whom i despised in 1st season.

I think Tara should face the consequences of her actions. And she was raised by her mother to be manipulative in order to get what she wanted. And that's a habit that's difficult to let go. The trigger for go down the same path was when she felt that she was being sidelined by Adil's family to make way for Faiza. She goes back to her ruthless manipulative self, right into the arms of her mother who seems to be the only influence currently in her life.

I also think deep down she believed Adil might cheat someday as he did it once with her on his former fiance when Tara was his secretary.. old habits die hard, so she has a hard time adjusting with a guy like Raghav whose presence is quite comforting and has no malicious intent.

If we compare with season 1 then we’ll always be stuck in that loop. Although it’s normal to have some expectations of consistency, I believe each season should have its own identity and focus. They presented as much as they could between 60-75 minutes in terms of highlighting the issues of society. One thing I’ve noticed, when people usually complain about wokeness, what they’re honestly complaining about is not being able to use language, ideologies, perceptions, etc. that were once acceptable. E.g. In episode 5 (Radhika Apte one), Tara is refers to the grooms ceremony as the “main wedding” for which Meher calls her out for to which Tara brushes it off and says, “ You know what I mean”. Words matter! Words have an affect on people. Honestly people criticizing progressive speech are just lazy thinkers and lack critical thinking. Just to be clear, I’m not saying Anmol is like that, but I’m basing more off on my experience with others and some commentators here.

I can just take a moment to admire how beautiful the shots were in the series, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second, but when it comes to characters I had some problems, Vijay Raaz is such a great actor was excited to see him at the end of first season but in season two he barely had any screen time, some of Tara's actions were questionable but then since growing up her mother groomed her to be a gold digger, also in karan's case i understand it's hard to deal with parent who doesn't accept you but atleast during her dying time he could have helped his dad and brother, it's very exhausting to be in the hospital and to take care of your family. Karan used everyone for his personal gains and didn't care about other people's feelings(except his mom), it was difficult to understand someone's pain when they create problems for other people

While agree with most of things you point out, I want to defend Karan, because I stand where he stands. It is immensely painful to watch someone you love in so much pain. And when they blame you for their pain, it’s just hard to face them. Karan does care for other people (He helps Dia Mirza’s character and the kid who misses his dad. He also stays in touch with Mitali). But he fails to open up, and he makes mommy out of Tara. His mom taught him to hide. In an environment like that, you usually don’t have the vocabulary to express anything but lie or get angry. So when Kabir asks him if he is fine or when Tara asks him what is up, he either lies and yells. Karan feels a lot. Just not for his family. He also expects Tara to fix things if he can’t do it. When his boyfriend asks him to open up, he packs and leaves. Karan only really expresses himself to Nawab and only really holds on to Tara. And after all Karan’s mom did to him, it would be insensitive, if not outright homophobic, to expect Karan to come and help her. She didn’t accept her son, she didn’t even really love him, so she got what she deserved.

I agree that the second season could have been better. I did not like the first, last and the France destination episodes, but discounting the whole of it is unfair. I loved the Mrunal Thakur one, the Radhika Apte one and the Diya Mirza one, also. The Mona Singh and Meher storyline’s were also good. Just Karan was super annoying. But Tara felt natural, like any newly divorced person would be trying to find themselves. Jazz and Kabir were also fine only. I don’t think this show is mediocre in any way, maybe the expectations were too high,

I went back and watched Season 1 after binge watching S2. Season 1 made you FEEL things, yes they are rich people but you connect at a human level. Grey was consistent and you could empathize - with the mehendi girl for taking the money, even younger Karan for what he did to Nawab.. the writing and acting was compelling enough for you to understand and tell yourself it’s ok. Season 2 is so disconnected from reality, emotions with very mediocre or outright bad acting ( Sara Jane Diaz, dandekar). Looking good is NOT the same as good acting. Yes, Trinetra is a great add but she cannot act so it just looks like she was in it to tick a box. Like what is she as a person beyond her trans identity. And so many pointless scenes.. Dia’s character attempting suicide and then deciding to fight.. the entire last episode was pointless and a terrible way to end the season because that’s what you leave with. The length of the episodes made it drag even more. What a let down.

Thank you so much for this! You clearly explained what I have been thinking. I feel like the makers tried to imitate the first season's success by focusing more on social issues. I absolutely admire what they are trying to do, but it could have been done in a better way. Bulbul and Meher's stories, with so much to unpack, could be shows on their own. Somehow, they didn't fit the main MIH plot. The main cast's storylines too seemed dreary. I really wanted to see Karan happy this season. And, damn, they did Akshay dirty! The only episode that moved me was the one with Radhika Apte. The finale was an absolute bore!

The problem isn't rich vs middle class, to be honest the problem is highly westernised (culturally deracinated) elites vs culturally rooted Indians.. As someone who have lived abroad, rich people and middle class often have same cultural rootedness and that's offer no problem but in India, rich people are so westernised and so whiter than whites than even it's unrecognisable.. Prior to the British, rich and elites only differed in luxurious lifestyle with same culturally prideness which after their departure is limited to non- elites..

Ohh exactly what I felt after watching this season. I was so confused in almost all of the episodes. Even the messages sounded like cliches and irritating. They might have moved me 2 years ago but certainly it required to be more subtle and connected and conveyed properly. Beauty lies in details and not in those outright messages hurled at the audience every second. Also, it is not just about morality. We sometimes understand even an immoral step or character if it is portrayed well and if it lets us see their dark sides. Not to empathize but just to understand.

This review comes as a shock to me to be honest. Yes, this time the show dealt with many issues. What’s the harm? It was done very well. There were several moments that made me emotional. Especially, the one when Vikrant Massey calls Arjun’s mother a bitch over not trying hard enough to understand his situation. And no I had no sympathy with Tara, but what she did was most natural for her character’s arc. The show doesn’t justify her deeds, and why wouldn’t one expect Faiza and Adil to be happy. They went through their personal hell to come to this point in their life. This show doesn’t portrays good people or bad people, I believe Zoya is just telling us that people have many shades. It’s impossible to put them in a box with a label.

The protagonists face no consequences for their actions. They snort drugs and walk free to preach to others, or they get a house worth millions. Ms Akthar is not talented enough to write great stories. What she can do is produce competent propaganda and sell it to folks who wallow in their self-righteousness (i.e. the urban gentry of this nation)

Yes, the show could have been better but it was a decent watch. As far as the last episode goes, the characters were not presented in a generic manner but the vow the bride gives at the altar alone, brought smile to my face, i found that really refreshing and endearing❤❤

Hey Jammy, I know its late, and the buzz about MIH is almost dead, but I'd still like you to hear me out on why I loved the second season as much as I did the first 1. While the first season dealt with the shit that goes into making the day special, the second season deals with the shit that goes on in the lives of the people that work towards making your day special 2.The complicated relationship between Tara and her MIL. She loved Tara like her own daughter and then goes on to accept Faiza because she's pregnant. So that leaves you questioning if a DIL is treated like a daughter in our society 3. The fact that Tara's affair with Raghav weakens her divorce case raises significant questions on the perceptions of our society 4. Tara looks beyond her materialistic tendencies, she truely loves Raghav (does not break up with him on her lawyer's advice) which shows growth in her character. But in the end she asserts what she must without compromising. Which I think is a great character trait. 5. The show slightly hints at the fact that adil deserves neither Tara nor Faiza (once a cheater always a cheater) 6. Jazz and Kabir's relationship highlights disparities among people from different sections of society, where one is mordernized while the other has a rather traditional view on love, and how that complicates things 7. Jazz's parents dont want her to be married off to anyone, fearing that she would stop taking care of them. They touched on a middle class problem, and it was accurate

Currently watching season 2 and so far these are my opinions - I have zero care for Tara's and Karan's individual arcs. They seem like such messed up snd superficial versions compared to their season 1 selves. I love their dynamic with each other though . I'm not really invested in every wedding. Except for yhe first one and Radhika Apte's episode ( which I'm currently on ) There's a certain coldness or detachment to the entire treatment of the plot this season. I'm deeply invested in the Jauhari family arc . I iust wish the original characters were given the substances they had in season 1. Also the English part - why was there so much English dialogue in parts or even character interactions where vernacular language would make much sense ? Was the language preference made keeping international audiences in mind ? There was already English subtitles so the English felt very unnatural in most scenes.

Vikrant Massey is the only relief in this never ending plethora of lecture sessions. Why so much forcing upon gay, lesbian,trans thing is beyond comprehension. Farhan Akhtar has gay daughters, most probably Zoya and Reema kagti are gay too. But forcing own orientation and preferences to audience is just puke worthy. Good thing: Focus on social issues especially domestic violence (gas lighting) and Dalit upper caste wedding issues. Though I have some reservations with the storyline. First of all there is no such so called Dalit wedding. Dalits live in entire parts of the country and have different customs of there own. Further, the custom shown in the episode 5 of the season 2 is a Navyana Buddhist Dalit custom of wedding, which mostly happens in Maharashtra. The essence of Dalitness was not even understood properly by the makers themselves. Though I appreciate that they bring such an important social issue into the limelight. further I do not understand what is such obsession of Joya with English. I think the season 2 was for the International audience especially for the NRIS but not for the Indian one. Further, I do not understand why the so much focus on broken relationships and obsession with extramarital relationships and casual sex with anyone. Or either I do not relate to the world of so rich portrait by makers of the series.

Only two characters I found refreshing this season were Bulbul and Meher. Bulbul showed the ugly side of domestic violence and Meher showed the life of a Trans without being too preachy and on the nose. I loved when Karan's friend played by Vikrant Massey came on Screen, their scenes were so so good, Dia Mirza shined the brightest in the small role she was given, well no surprise there as Dia Mirza kills it every time may it be supporting role in Thappad or her guest starring in MIH. IMO Ishvak was wasted and there was too little of Jim, yeah Rocket Boys hangover is real yo. But kudos to Cinematographer, DOP, lightening, Set Designer, Costume Designer for doing an incredible job. The asthetics, the clothes, the wedding cards, floral decor, The dinner set up everything looked so exquisite. P.S. 6:35 Hey Jammy congrats man. 😂😂😂

Season 2 was good and enjoyable, whilst some episodes were a bit too long. Unlike your assessment, I really didn't find it woke overload. Color-ism, caste discrimination, domestic abuse and trans/homophobia are still hugely important issues in our society and it was refreshing to see that the elite are equally part of this regressive mentality. Importantly kudos to karan!, what a stellar performance.
