Ok, I have to jump in and maybe correct you a little bit. The small wedding in the city hall was never Carrie's idea. It was Big's. Carrie was just so thrilled to finally get married, she was afraid to jinx it or to scare Big away. So she was like "Sure, I'll get married in the city hall! I'll get married in the subway if I have to!". Then, Anthony's remarks remind her she is a part of this wedding too. She has the right to enact some of her visions and dreams about the wedding. Big was just acting like a spoiled immature brat about this. Just use your f***ing words to express yourself to the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with! I felt like they are trying to make us be on Big's side by showing how hurt he was and how over the top and self centered she was. But nothing excuses what he did, sorry, can't see it. How could she ever forgive him at all, I would never understand. P.S. Miranda wasn't running with Charlitte, because of the long comute from the Bronx to Central Park. It's really not an option, when you have a family and a career. At best, she could run at her local park with the cute guy, but not travel to Manhattan every time.

I disagree. I had a hard time forgiving both characters and still don’t feel there were sufficient consequences for both. I feel shows and movies go too easy on cheaters in general, but especially so when it’s either a fan-favorite (Steve) or a main character (Carrie). In my opinion, Miranda deserved better than Steve all along and show writers should have had her end up with Robert. Also, in the therapy session scene, Steve never even takes full responsibility for cheating either. It’s either bad writing or he sucks.

@esikazemese I understand that there are psychological factors behind infidelity, just as there are behind any human behavior. The point is that this does not justify such actions, and does not make them less harmful or more forgivable. People who choose to be unfaithful and then say "Oh I'm sorry, I just needed to have sex," are not reliable at all. I FULLY support the idea of the girls not being for each other except for Carrie, but I think it's the only realistic point about adulthood: they have family and/or work and they live in different neighborhoods, so it's logical that Charlotte and Miranda don't run togheter or go apartment hunting. This said, Carrie is the only one with an open agenda who can go wherever whenever and be a plus one to picking a halloween costume for her friend's son on any random evening
@KasiaSopniewskaАй бұрын
I love this take! It makes so much sense. adulthood really is like that. everyone has their own lives, families, and jobs, so it’s totally logical that Charlotte and Miranda wouldn’t have time to run together or go apartment hunting. but then again, the movie's creators weren’t exactly going for realism as so many plotlines are far from realistic, like Big jilting Carrie and them never speaking afterward. life doesn’t work that way! he knows where she lives, they share the same friend group, and let’s be real, she would have bumped into him way earlier. but I guess that’s just the satc logic for you

What bothers me about this movie-- and really any of the content made afterit -- is that the fashion no longer feels organic. Like in the show, the ladies have interesting lives and just happen to look great at the same time. But in these movies and AJLT, I always get the feeling that it's more about the clothes and then their lives second. And it makes everything feel so fake. "Did the movie miss the point?" Yes and no. It tied up a few loose ends that the show left such as Charlotte getting pregnant (which given her fertility issues in the show deserved WAY more focus) and Carrie and Big getting married. But Steve cheating on Miranda is such an out of character moment and having Samantha dump a good guy like Smith to go back on the cock carousel messed with any character development she had in the show. They should have gave Charlotte's pregnancy more attention, give Steve and Miranda other marital problems to overcome that aren't infidelity, Samantha and Smith could have broken up for different reasons, And Carrie's story could have been about planning the wedding and the insecurities she still had with Big. The second movie was even more pointless.

The parallel between the show and the wedding is a very interesting input. I'm a fan of the show and I watched the movies, but for me it ends with the show and I like to think the movies and the sequel do not exist. The show wasn't perfect but it's still a brilliant show about women and relationships in the 90s/2000s some episodes didn't age well, some are still very relatable and it was copied but never as good as the original. In the show, they were privileged white women but some plots were still relatable, with the movies it was too over the top as if we can feel sorry for them, uber rich cringy women. They became the women they used to lake fun of.

the key part of the quote is 'at its best,' which is important to notice. it’s saying that the movie can show why their bond sticks, but that doesn’t mean it always does. But the locals also have a different gut health…as they do not pasteurize their dairy products… which is the same in Europe. So it isn’t about being poor or anything it is because USA is OVER sanitized so we have a different gut health. When I was pregnant and in Mexico visiting family… I didn’t eat anything that wasn’t cooked. The only milk I had was hot chocolate and I didn’t eat any fruit from the stands… which I normally do when not pregnant. So I didn’t see that part of the move as making fun or derogatory.

14:00 Okay....so you don't like when a character had no function. But, you don't like it when Miranda or Charlotte run alone. 🤦🏽♀️ They are literally each other's only friends!

Great bonding experience if all the girlies have watched Sex and the City because they are too many references to the show

so wait.. they decided to get married for a penthouse???
@KasiaSopniewskaАй бұрын
kind of. the penthouse just got Carrie thinking about her future. when Big buys it outright because she can’t afford it, it hits her that she wouldn’t have any rights to the apartment if their relationship didn’t work out.

You know that's the most reasonable take Carrie ever had in this franchise😅 @@KasiaSopniewska

It's to protect Carrie if anything went wrong. Initially she says she wants to sell her apartment so she can have a financial stake in the apartment. She points out that she'd have no security if something happened since they weren't married. So Big says well we could just get married then. It's not romantic in the conventional ott sense but I think it kind of is.. Big wants Carrie to keep her own money etc including the apartment and just casually hands her half of his as well.

I think the difference in the cheating storylines had to do with life events. If I remember, SJP husband had been rumored to cheat on her as the 2nd movie script was being written.

how is it xenophobic that people who're used to us water get food poisoning from tap water in exotic countries?
@KasiaSopniewskaАй бұрын
hi! good question! it’s true that people can get food poisoning or feel unwell from tap water when they’re traveling, especially if their stomachs aren’t used to it. but the way this scene plays out makes it feel less like a practical concern and more like a stereotype about certain countries being unsafe or unclean. the exaggeration of Charlotte’s paranoia, refusing to eat anything except a chocolate pudding, feels like it’s poking fun at the culture rather than just showing her being careful. if the movie had shown her asking for advice or being thoughtful about it, it wouldn’t feel so awkward to watch now. hope that makes sense xx

@@KasiaSopniewskaAs someone who has been pregnant and also struggled with infertility like Charlotte did, I must say I absolutely understand her concern with tap water.Getting any type of poisoning even when non-pregnant is scary, I had it in 2021 in Egypt, same as her, it was hell.Now, she got pregnant after a loss and many painful unsuccesaful attempts, so she feels responsible for herself and her baby and she really does not want to risk anything and go through another loss.She is traumatised and overtly cautious, that's all.I was basically like her in my first pregnancy, so I can relate...
@KasiaSopniewskaАй бұрын
just to clarify, Charlotte actually got pregnant after the Mexico trip, so at that point in the movie, she wasn’t expecting yet :) I’m very sorry to hear about your own experience with food poisoning. it sounds awful! and I appreciate you sharing your story

Im from Mexico and it is 100% a terrible scene. She was not staying on the “poor” side of Mexico. She was in a 5 star hotel where Im almost sure was full of americans… (for sure is Los Cabos) Food poisoning? No way. It feels like she is kind of saying we are dirty and unclean. Girl you need to meet a latina mom so you will see how clean we are hahaha (and also our food) And the water… it is mandatory to use CLEAN WATER on every hotel. Please, we are not +100 years behind America. Stop imagine México like all sepia and desert just because Hollywood show you only that part Great video btw hahahaha

@@vmgr3 I'm neither from MX nor from US and the way I saw the scene was purely that that tap water isn't for the american stomach. I didn't get any of that stuff about mexican people - yeah the hotel looked super clean and luxurious. It made Charlotte look stupid because she was being paranoid and in the end I think she did get poisoning because she drank the water from the shower if I remember correctly. So from, a let's say objective perspective, the joke lands and the only issue was the tap water. I find people are reaching these days making everything racist. Now if we talk about the second movie it was absolutely atrocious lol
