Lesson learnt is never lie at no time, especially if moving into to a new apartment and neighborshood. They will ask you same question in different format by different people, just to know if you're lying init. If you stay will a co-shared family, never take their one time niceness as continuous. Take it as for the moment, they could switch on you if they are in bad mood or just start hating you for no reason. 3. Don't run your country down to foreigners, you may say some of your leader are not doing well, but don't generalized, else you will be seen in that light instantly.

I liked everything she said except that guarantor. When I moved to London many years ago, I asked a British guy to do me guarantor he ran away. I was upset then but today I would have run away myself. In high insight. It is a very serious legal financial obligation you know…….. as I grew older I realized. Scammers in the Uk 🇬🇧. Excellent Job Nanelle, I have lived in and out of the UK for 40 years. Not much has changed.Greatest lesson I’ve learned -not everyone who smiles at you at work , will smile at you outside the office. Mind the use of the word ‘Friend’. Back home, once a relationship between individuals is cordial, we would say he/she is a friend. It’s not so in the UK.

Hey Nanelle! As usual, you did justice to the video. Well done!! I want to contribute to the part where someone refused to sign as your guarantor. I really do not blame them because it entails a lot but many people do not understand this. Acting as a guarantor for someone else can have several disadvantages: 1. Financial Risk: As a guarantor, you are responsible for paying the rent if the tenant is unable to pay. This can put a strain on your finances if the tenant defaults on their rent payments. 2. Credit Score Impact: Acting as a guarantor can impact your credit score, as your credit report will show that you have co-signed a lease. This can make it more difficult for you to get approved for credit in the future. 3. Legal Liabilities: As a guarantor, you may be legally liable for any damage caused to the rental property by the tenant, or for any unpaid rent. This can make you responsible for large sums of money if the tenant does not fulfill their obligations. 4, Time-consuming: Being a guarantor can be time-consuming, as you may need to provide proof of income and other documentation to the landlord. You may also need to be available to sign the lease and other documents. 5. Relationship strain: If you are guaranteeing a friend or family member, and they are unable to pay their rent, it can put a strain on the relationship. 6. Limited control: As a guarantor, you have limited control over the tenant's behavior or actions in the rental property, which can lead to potential problems such as damage to the property or disturbance to neighbors. It's important to weigh the potential risks and benefits before deciding to act as a guarantor for someone else. It may be better to suggest alternative options like paying a larger deposit or finding another guarantor.

Sorry but I can't blame anyone for not signing as a guarantor. I signed for someone who I thought was a good friend of mine. This was for a loan for school fees (for a PhD). It is without doubt the biggest mistake of my life. He stopped paying the company back within a year and I was saddled with a £10,000 debt. I tried to come to an arrangement with him but he kept defaulting on it. Eventually I had to pay it myself. Imagine how that felt having to pay £10,000 on a debt that had nothing to do with me.

Hi Nanelle, I love your videos, your energy and your sense of humour. I have been in the UK for 2 years plus, I'm a dependent of a skilled worker, a nurse. I agree with most of your points. The point about people not signing as a guarantor, I don't totally agree with. Some people might have a genuine reason for not wanting to be used as a guarantor. Some people use different names at work from what's on their official documents, people have bad credits, some don't want to be held responsible if any issue occurs, etc. So, honestly, I won't judge anyone for not signing as a guarantor. It's important to build lasting relationships cos when you need to get your British passport in the future, you will still need 2 referees. Bless you Sis, this is brilliant 👏.
