Wow I don't know how people do ADF. All my body can handle is a max of 20:4. I get dehydrated easy even with drinking electrolytes all day. I usually just stick to eating between 9am-3pm based on the studies of early time restricted feeding.
@nataliajimenez1870 Жыл бұрын
ADF or 4:3 or 5:2 can help metabolism a lot rather than doing the same thing everyday because when you do the same calorie restriction everyday your metabolic rate slows down. Also you can do a modified fast in your fasting days. Many experts recommend eating no more than 500 calories on your fasting days. For me doing coffee or tea with some butter or coconut oil works as well as a little broth. I've done a sardine fast too

I don’t know if this helps but Have 1 tsp of salt with a liter of water and once you do one, you realize it’s not that bad, I would eat emotionally and being able to sit in that discomfort instead of eating has taught me a lot.

This was so great! I’ve been ADF for over a month and am down 24lbs! I had 100+ to lose so that wasn’t too hard. I could never sustain keto and I was super bored by IF. This is the best solution I’ve found but that’s for me, we are all different. I have multiple sclerosis and the benefits of a 36-40 hr fast has been awesome! Thanks for sharing- hearing someone else talk about the “magical number” to reach where everything in life will be perfect… it’s so true! We are more than a number on a scale.

Hey Lexi, super powerful message being in a hurry often leads to unsustainable change. Thank you for the reminder every now and again 😊. I hope you’re well. I’ve been struggling a lot with hayfever, congestion affecting my sleep so no ADF this week. Though one may argue it might make me feel better if I do a full day fast 😅, but I’m just not up to it. Hoping things will improve next week!
@MomFasting Жыл бұрын
Thanks Patricia! Darn hay fever! I guess that’s one negative side effect of spring 😅I hope it gets better soon, or if you do make it through a full day fast maybe that will nip it in the bud! I’m pretty good thanks, just still holding out for warmer weather. 😉

Hey! I have watched a few of your videos and find them inspiring. I think you look great! In regards to living a sustainable and healthy habit filled life, I think so many of us don’t “get it” until we reach a certain age. Thank you for sharing your experience! Menopause for many comes until their 50’s, each family/hereditary factors will affect. You may still have a long way.

Thanks Pat! Very true, I’ve got a ways to go till menopause, but perimenopause can start in mid 30s where hormones start to shift. Thanks for watching, I appreciate you! 😄

Fasting has been the only thing that makes my scale move, esp after early menopause. I did ADF, and then stopped, and regained, now im gonna restart with first two 40 hr fasts each week, then add one more to do 3. Thank you for sharing your journey truthfully :)

Hi Sophia! Thanks for sharing that, and best of luck on your restart!

Congratulations! This is really quite an achievement and you should be very proud of yourself. I've personally tried this protocol off and on so know how difficult maintaining consistency can be. It's easy to do any amount of fasting once, but every other day is quite another story. Anyway, you look great and most importantly healthy! Thanks for sharing! You have my utmost respect.

Thanks so much! I think Doing 4:3 vs true ADF, throwing in 5:2, and taking sporadic breaks is what has made it sustainable. Thanks for watching 😁

ADF works brilliantly for me, healing various problems that I have. I also enjoy even longer fasting as well, like 140 hours which is just over 5 days. Do you ever do multiple day fasting? If you start out with being good at ADF, it can be quite easy to get into.

Thanks for the information…like you said, I need to find something sustainable that I can have integrated into my lifestyle for the long run because I have been known to be extreme and I can’t keep doing the extreme success failure thing with all these different fasting methods. I need to find something sustainable. My first ADF day I wasn’t able to make it through the whole 36 hours. In the future I will aim for 40 hours. I’m not giving up on this though. I attributed my fall to drinking coffee though.I need to be like you and not drink coffee. I live with my father, and he drinks a lot of coffee, so I have to really be disciplined and not drink it.
@MomFasting Жыл бұрын
Hi Sadie, I hear you-it’s a struggle! Finding balance is a lifelong pursuit and it’s hard. Tons of people have success and drink coffee, but if you feel like that’s something you want to cut back on, I believe in you! Maybe just work on being consistent with fasting first though-one thing at a time. 🙌🏼

Nice detailed info….thanks Have one question…do you do ADF even in period cycle time?
@MomFasting7 ай бұрын
Hello. So, I haven’t done ADF in a year due to personal life stresses, but when I did for 3.5 years, I personally did usually fast during my cycle (or the week before is when it’s usually recommended not to), but I always held the option not to if I felt like I shouldn’t. I did experiment at times with not fasting that week, and I always felt worse. So I think it’s really a highly personal decision and may depend on your age as well, and definitely on whether someone is trying to conceive. I hope you find what works best for you. 🙏🏻🩵

I think the 500 calorie thing is silly and not real fasting. Been doing 5:2 for over two months now and I'm considering trying 4:3. Your video helped me realize that schedule issues/bumps like vacation etc, make you have to be extra thoughtful about which days you'll fast. I was curious about true ADF but I don't like the weekdays changing every week so I think I'd stick with 4:3.
@MomFasting Жыл бұрын
If you do the 500 cal in 1 sitting, there is still a lot of fasting on either side. But it’s true that it isn’t a full 36 hr fast. Just depends on your needs and goals.
@Guitarlvr01 Жыл бұрын
You can say that, but Dr. Krista Varady studied that protocol for ten years and it gave the same results or sometimes even better results than full fasting, as the 500 calorie group maintained more muscle mass.

What weight are you down? I see you started at 209 but what do you weight now?
@MomFasting Жыл бұрын
Hi Louisa, I fluctuated between 175-185 for 3.5 years on ADF, and I’m 5’11”. I haven’t done ADF since losing my son this April and have definitely gained. Just like anything, if you stop the weight will come back. But life happens…
@adetomiwaadekoya77113 ай бұрын
What do you do when the weight stops dropping 🥹? ADF third month
@MomFasting3 ай бұрын
@@adetomiwaadekoya7711 plateaus are normal. Sometimes, however, what you’re eating needs to be addressed…it’s a process of finding what works best for your body and whether there are foods that are not helping you out. Not talking about extremes. Just paying attention, maybe doing some blood sugar readings to see how different foods affect you. 🩵
