I also don’t like heels as much, and now with ACL surgery, even less.

I had a partial ACL tear last year but didn't choose the surgical route. My ACL remodeled itself into a thin one. My orthopedic doctor said that there was no way my ACL would grow in thickness even if I did rehab exercises. But the ATG program says that the thickness of the ACL can increase on doing the exercises and loading the ACL. Is it a possibility? I was an athlete too who partially tore my ACL while playing basketball 😢. Thanks in Advance

I’d say if you’re wanting to return to sport faster, surgery is going to be your best bet. The non-surgical route MAY lead to full healing, but this can take a long time, and is not guaranteed for all knee cases. Keep in mind, I’m not a medical professional and this is not medical advice - it is always best to consult with your medical providers and get their opinion - and possibly a second ortho opinion as well.

Hi, I feel the same I torn my acl 18 months ago and I feel like I'm stock now I have more swelling than last year, and I don't understand why. I want to go see my surgery doc again to see maybe take MRI to see if anything is wrong on inside. I'm very frustrated now I can't play soccer as much as I wanted to, and I can't get my knee straight when walking a lot of days now. I feel I was better 12 months after surgery than now.

Hey it’s been 9 months since my Acl surgery. Almost everything is back to normal but the only thing that’s really bothering me is when i bear my full weight on the fully extended knee it hurts. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Have you achieved some hyper extension back in your knee? I ask this because my non-op knee is def probably 5 or so degrees under 0, def has natural hyper extension. I am currently almost 6 weeks post op and I feel like the answer I keep receiving is I won’t ever get hyper extension back in my operative leg. I also had a bucket handle meniscus repair + ACLR, so I have to be careful going forward how I rehab this knee in recovery. I’m not even weight bearing just yet. But I do feel like unevenness poses a risk to my left leg. Thoughts?

Hey! I had ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery in 2022 on my right knee and then had to go through the same thing again 3 weeks ago on my left knee. I play soccer. (Well I haven’t played much in the last 2 years due to both of my injuries and surgeries). So I always had some natural hyper extension in both my knees but I think doctors and physios don’t really notice this a lot and they mainly just focus on getting everyone to 0 since it’s the standard rather than what feels normal to you. So for me, I had some complications with physio after my first surgery which has led to now having +2-5 over 0 extension in that knee. (I’m 18months out from that surgery with that right knee)It sucks. I probably won’t get it back without surgical intervention. With my left knee, (surgery was 3 weeks ago) I focus so much on extension and getting it back to my usual hyper extension in physio and on my own. I’m telling you now, any chance you have by yourself DO EXTENSION WORK. I believe I injured my left knee because of the imbalance in both extension and muscle strength. So my advice, is to really do a lot of stuff on your own (within moderation), not just at your physio appointments. Listen to your body. Really try as best as you can to get the surgery leg close to the good leg. If you’re 6 weeks out, I think you can still get your hyper extension back. But you really have to spend most of your days working on it. Don’t let it get to 3/4 months and it’s not back yet. The imbalance DOES pose a risk to your other knee. Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Congratulations Victoria. Great update. All your videos were very helpful for me just before and after my surgery. I had my ACL surgery and meniscus repaired in two places in December 2023. Till now I regained full extension full flexion but I have some weird symptom which is strange even for my physiotherapist. When I try to fully extend my leg from around 15-20 degrees to 0 degrees I can hear some pop and can feel that something is moving within the knee but in very minimal way. Very unpleasant feeling as it is happening almost every time and it is very uncomfortable during exercises like leg extension. Did anyone have similar symptoms?

Similar time frame since surgery. Small click or pop in exactly the same part of knee extension. I thought it was from my hamstring tendon snapping or from the anterior lateral aspect of tibial tuberosity. Did you figure out what is it?
@2345tag
@2345tag Ай бұрын
No I didn’t. Some knee specialist said that it is due to loss of strength in the quadriceps but I disagree since I have two or three days during the month when within first 10-20 minutes after I woke up I do not have any symptoms described before. The knee is like new, just perfect but only for first 10-20 minutes of the day. I think the popping sensation is due to internal swelling in the knee but at the same time is definitely connected to the fibula bone as the popping is a lot less severe when I keep my calf muscle relaxed. Hard to deal with this feeling when the doctors saying that everything is OK but you know that is it not.

Excellent video, as always. As always, you are employing all the high yield fundamentals for healing and maintenance. May I humbly suggest some supplements and modalities that may possibly make a 1 to 5% difference in overall healing and recovery for your knee? Peptides such as BPC 157 and TB 500. Modalities such as orthopedic extracorporeal shockwave therapy, and extracorporeal magnetotransduction therapy. Ortho biologics such as platelet rich plasma, and/or stem cells. Just some possibilities, if your medical team agrees. We are all thrilled that you are feeling better. Thanks for posting. Always learn a lot.

What you are actually facing is the transition from being an athlete to just being athletic. It happens to everyone when they age out
@ericmalitz
@ericmalitz 3 ай бұрын
Loss of athleticism is simply down to weakness or loss of mobility. Maintain the strength/mobility, and maintain the athleticism. After an injury the average person has no idea what to do; the course is usually of avoidance, so of course they lose strength/mobility. Now there’s ATG. As she says, she didn’t continue to prioritize it. It’s ultimately about measurable strengthening, but she kept falling back on “maintence.”
