a guru confirms the truth that you yourself have realized (10:50). . . then, when offering a long list of 'god-realized beings' our guru only names men. what about Arundhati Maa, wife of Sage Vasistha, for example? so many other women, (and those of other genders) are there, but when their names are not spoken, they remain invisible, as does all women's spiritual experience, which can be very different from men's, yet men's experiences are universalized as the model for everyone to follow. having come from the Abrahamic tradition, I am SO tired of the male bias in spiritual teaching, and am disappointed when I encounter it in the Hindu tradition, in which there is such a strong remembering of the Divine Feminine, and so many gifted female teachers and 'realized beings'!. . . "spirituality means peace" (30:44). . . virakta - disinterested (56:36)
