This was a great episode that really timestamps when NYC started to lose its authenticity. Now just corporate and landlord greed.

This was a great show and thank you for sharing these memories with us! The bittersweet thing about watching it is looking up some of the restaurants she visits and seeing they may be closed now. The Tabla dish she had in this episode looked tasty; after looking it up, I was sad to see the featured chef, Floyd Cardoz, passed away in 2020 due to Covid-19. Rest in peace and this feature is a lovely part of his legacy. I’m happy to see Brooklyn Ice Cream Company is still open and will put it on the list to visit.

I just looked up the Ice Cream Company. The cup she paid 1.50 is now $8

I lived in Brooklyn Heights in the early 2000s. Whenever people would come to visit we would walk down to that shop in the evening for ice cream. Good times.

People were complaining about the economy then too. That’s why a show like this even existed - to give people ideas on how to afford eating out.

There’s not much difference between Rachael Ray and a farm animal
