Neuro's take on the power of friendship trope is pretty based. I seriously don't understand why people universally hate the concept so much, it can create some very effective emotional/moving moments when done well.

Depends on how its written like Asta vs Shy both never give up, no one left behind but shy has the plot armor so it fell off hard for me. Also like 2012-2013ish that trope was everywhere especially sports anime you couldn't get away from it unless you watched something gory and still there was gory magical girl anime.

Mainly because it's often used as a convenient plot device or as plot armor. You can write a good stroy about camaraderie and friendship, but it physically manifesting itself in a often supernatural way feels kinda shallow. Someone winning because of friendship frustrates me especially since villans are often show as cunning, catious and well prepared while the heros are often brazen and underprepared. In that case, even if it's done well, it feels like the heros only win because they deserve it and not because they earned it.

tbf the anteater is really deep on the neuro lore iceberg, you really had to be a fan during the early years to know about it. the problem with harem anime is the fact that it's not even harem. it's just bunch of girls want a man, which isn't harem. Tenma definitely had some difficulty getting Neuro to work with her. I see a few times Tenma didn't know how to respond, Neuro mishears her, and Neuro even did a repeat of part of a response. Neuro did eventually chill and was a bit nicer.
