The 10 mm seemed to leak water out of the second hole. The water melon was scattered better also. Both seemed good. Interested in how much recoil the 10 mm sub has. I shot 1 back in the 90s and it stank! 1st time ever and I got two hits out of the mag from a 10mm.

Not sure why it said 9 instead of 10 mm. 10 mm from my experience has seemed to kick like a mule. But in real life.

The 10mm critical duty is not full power load .why I don't buy it.

True. But a full power 10mm load might be a bit much for a target of the two legged variety. These are designed to hit that F.B.I spec of 12"-18" of penetration. If they heated these loads up, they could potentially far exceed that. Thanks for watching.

U may be correct. My cousin and I both carry 10's on duty. His a Smith and Wesson I sold him years ago I tried to buy back but was ment for him I believe. I have a gen 2 ported Glock. He was shot twice point blank with a 9mm. Still in hospital. He was still able to take the bad guy out with the SW 10. Forrest city Walmart. Don't know what rounds he used but did the job. Thank you for your response. He was a detective so had no vest just happened to be close by when call came out.

On the far end of the spectrum, hot 10mm loads far surpass even .357 rounds. I have rounds that I chronograph to have 950 ft lbs of energy, which puts them just under a .41 magnum. For some reason no one likes the high end rounds for such tests 😁

@@MichaelKMorris thats because 10mm were already expensive as hell before. And extremely hard to find depending upon where you are. I thought about getting my pistol in 10mm. But the 6 or 7 months prior I went to all the stores within 30 of our house and my work. I couldn't find 10mm nor 5.7mm cause that was another one I was thinking of getting.

I carry a 40 as edc almost all the time. I have carried 40 since late 90s. CZ40, G23 & now M&P40c(1.0) or a full size 2.0. I am not terribly impressed with the Critical Duty but my choice now is the Critical Defense. I do have a G29 10mm I use for woods carry. I carry Fenix 180gr. Gold Dot.

The 10 did exactly what it was suppose to. Expended it's energy quick and in a hurry, and made a massive wound channel. If you want penetration, use a round ball.

Good review 👍 however in my opinion the 10 was watered down to the 40S&W (you essentially compared the same cartridge) it should have penetrated into the second jug at minimum. This 10 did a small amount more damage... a bit more expansion... a full power 10 should be night and day difference. 200 - 300 ft pounds more energy. But still you did a great job showing how watered down the 10mm is in some factory loads.🙂

One sure would think that 10 mm would have gone into the 2nd jug. But in the speers load data book the gain of the 10mm is not very much more over the .40. Where casing size looks like it would be a 20% gain.

Hey Brother Penetration, that's all well and good, I'm a .40 S&W "inthusiast" (Per-se'), and my question for you is, "What are the "Pro's & Con's" here, the 10 mm is "BIGGER"-"HEAVIER"-"HARDER TO CONCEAL"; and or what? Besides, I can get .40 S&W ammo that's more powerful than that 10mm, by a lot, like .40 S&W, TAC-XP, 165g, 528 ft/lb, 1200 ft/sec, OR, .40 SW, Nosler, JHP 150g, 542 ft/lb, 1275 ft/sec. Sooo? I call "DO OVER", lol-lol.... Yeah, Challenge? Hmmm? Use that 10mm, only use this Nosler .40 150g JHP? How bout it?

Most ammo manufacturers do not load the 10mm to its full potential as designed, it is neutered down to 40 s&w power. Pushing heavy bullets faster will always win.

So in this test how exactly did the 10mm fail? How many bystanders do you want to hit when you miss the bad guy cause you can't handle the extra horse power of the heavier bullet going faster. Think about your intended target before you spout stupid ideas

Great video... I've been putting cloth and pork Ribs in front of a "personal size" watermelon lately. Changes results immensely... especially if you hit bone. We ought to look into doing some videos together

Alaskan guides are carrying 10mms not 40s. Just bought a Glock model 20 10mm yesterday after over a year looking for one. Pretty easy to find 40s but 10s are tough to find.

I just watched the part 1 and saw it! So seems to me the 10mm is underpowered on the load. That’s a shame! Try Sig ammo. They are affordable and do real 10mm velocity!

Don't mean to come off all petty & picayune, but because you failed to shoot your 2nd rd (10mm) into the 2nd watermelon at it's lateral/side wall to replicate the same conditions as the 1st shot; you have exposed the 10mm rd to less skin tension and surface hardness than the .357Sig was exposed to. That automatically alters the test and affects the outcome. Think about it. You turned the 2nd watermelon sideways where all of that structural support is greatly reduced, making it easier for any bullet to pass thru. Again, sorry but these are my observations. Thank you for your efforts.

Basically, everything else being equal, the higher velocity of the 10mm means quicker expansion and them.40 cal moving slower, has less expansion, therefor their results are about equal for penetration.

I just wish the .40 came in a little beefier frame. The frame is no different than a 9mm, so it seems to beat itself up prematurely. So, if the frame were just a hair larger, I think it would be a much better gun.
