I sent mine back to Smith 3 times and they kept saying nothing was wrong but they did a chamber and ramp polish twice and ga e me a mag once. It went from averaging a failure every 17 rounds to every 22 rounds. The only way to fix this gun is to not buy a smith and wesson. It was my third m&p and now i have 0. If smith won't stand behind their product then I won't either

Why use 180 grain the 125 grain 115 grain and 230 grain? That is not good test to show the best of each round. You could have 125 in 9mm and 357 and then a very light caliber for 40 and 45 to maintain there velocity

How you liking it with the factory sights? I see many on Reddit suggest replacing with standard or shorter tall sights. What’s your opinion thanks.

I have A LOT of experience with 40 S&W (probably 30,000 rounds at least). Your 10mm is suffering a lot of the same issues that early 40's did (like the Glock 22) that WASN'T designed for the 40 S&W cartridge it was a Glock 17 with a bigger barrel in it. The problem is two fold. 1st the cartridge does not work well with 200 grain bullets (they are just too big and get caught on the lip of the feed ramp. 2nd most target ammo for 10mm is loaded to 40S&W velocity because they're cheep bastards. The recoil spring is not too heavy or too light; the ammo isn't powerful enough (not enough velocity) to push the spring back. When you combine this with the 200 grain bullets you get a double whammy. ALSO 180 grain bullet 40S&W about 1050 FPS and 10mm 180 bullet FPS about 1200 FPS. I hope this helps. Peace out brother!

I have the 4.6” model. Already put in the Galloway 24lb guide rod and spring, and also put in the Springer precision extra power mag springs. Holosun 507c rdx2 also sits on top of the slide. It’s cold in Idaho so Im waiting for a nicer day to go to the range and play

Underwood came out with a hard cast 180 grain bullet for the 357 sig. Is it safe to use in the current 32 block and other brand of guns that shoot 357 sig?

I’ve noticed most .357 Sig ammo is pushing good power. Where most 10mm rounds are simply loaded to .40 S&W levels. Which are weak. The exceptions are Lehigh, buffalo bore, & underwood. Because of that I lean towards the .357sig

They use too heavy a grain in .40, the sweet spot for .40 is between 150 and 165. Get that mug closer to 1300-1350 FPS. Thats the sweet spot imo.

Considering the latest price difference, the 10mm is now the cheaper of the two. If I was recoil sensitive, I would choose the .357Sig, but not if I wasn't. Things have changed in the last four years. 357Sigs are getting phased out in online stores.

I have the same model in 4" didn't know there was a problem until seeing this. Good info. I do have a m&p 45 also but in 4.6" seem to not want to lock into battery even without feeding a round.. Its only occasionally it does this.. I wonder if a 22lb spring would fix this. It's not a carry gun so not a huge deal.

I've got the 4.6 m&p 2.0 10 mm put over 600 round through it, and I've owned it for only 2 months. But I have yet to have any issues. Running any ammo at all. Mag tech sellier blazers several different holopoints and a box of bear rounds. don't seem to matter it will eat it up and spit it out flawlessly.

Unconventional. Suggestion; bolt a piece of clear laminate to each side to keep the projectiles in the target. They're not likely to damage it, and you can look inside the target from both sides to see what happened. And tighten up on the aim! Lol! Get those things separated by 3 or 4 inches so there's no chance it hit an area already weakened by the previous damage. I like it, though. Nice presentation

Why doesn't S&W fix it you should have to come out of pocket because of a defect from factory.

I have found the mag springs are the primary source of issues in striker fired 10mm. The extra power mag spring seems to solve the issues as it both slows reward slide velocity and presents cartridge to feed ramp in a more timely manner… I haven’t found extra recoil spring to matter much..in some cases it made things worse. I believe this is because manufactures use same mag spring regardless of caliber…. Using an extra power spring may reduce capacity..and they dont want that. 1911s benefit from a flat bottom firing pin stop..this allows for lower slide velocity without the need for a change in mag springs.. Extra power recoil springs can increase return velocity of the slide..exacerbating low power mag springs.

The bonus package on the 357 sig, the necked down case makes for absolutely no chambering issues. The most reliable I have ever carried.

Well done. It would be good for hunting or shooting through concrete or a wind shield. For self and home defense, please be careful of over penetration. It would go along way.

10mm is a beast! but 357 SIG is also a perfect solution for most situations. Not sure why underwood loads the X Penetrator 25 ft lower than their 125gr. The 115gr can safely be loaded to 1600fps = 650ft-lbs on a projectile that is velocity dependent.

why use the 180 grain .40? Use 155 to 165 grain. It will make a difference

I own the 4", the 4.6", and the comped PC. Haven't had one problem with the shorter ones, but the PC has been a headache. By the way, even the Glock 20 has only a 17lb OEM recoil spring. Either way, I've since made some orders with Springer, Galloway, and Wolff. Pretty sure that'll take care of the issues. Oh, and take this from an Alaskan who has shot bear, unless you're in truly LARGE animal country you really don't need 200 or 220gr hardcast for deadstop on your puny little black bears and pigs. 180gr at 1200 or 1250 will be quite sufficient.

Now all you need to do is visit Apex Tactical and turn this sidearm into a rockstar😁 At least change out the striker block with the Apex product. It'll smooth out that trigger and remove the creep.

357 sig still gapped the 10 despite the shorter barrel. I feel pretty confident if the barrel lengths were equal the penetration difference would have been a bit greater. You can’t go wrong with either one but the Sigs ticks more boxes for my needs .

Perhaps balls of the same weight should have been used for an equivalent test
