I have the same model in 4" didn't know there was a problem until seeing this. Good info. I do have a m&p 45 also but in 4.6" seem to not want to lock into battery even without feeding a round.. Its only occasionally it does this.. I wonder if a 22lb spring would fix this. It's not a carry gun so not a huge deal.

I've got the 4.6 m&p 2.0 10 mm put over 600 round through it, and I've owned it for only 2 months. But I have yet to have any issues. Running any ammo at all. Mag tech sellier blazers several different holopoints and a box of bear rounds. don't seem to matter it will eat it up and spit it out flawlessly.

I have yet to clean my gun and don't plan on touching it until I experience my first failure. I will let you know when that happens. Only thing I dont like that I can't seem to find a good replacement is the factory tall mf sights!! I'd like a shorter night's sight if anyone knows of any.

Unconventional. Suggestion; bolt a piece of clear laminate to each side to keep the projectiles in the target. They're not likely to damage it, and you can look inside the target from both sides to see what happened. And tighten up on the aim! Lol! Get those things separated by 3 or 4 inches so there's no chance it hit an area already weakened by the previous damage. I like it, though. Nice presentation

Awesome! It looks like the 357 SIG is the future of pistol calibers. Excellent penetration, a test with a submachine gun in this caliber would be interesting. Cool video.

Why doesn't S&W fix it you should have to come out of pocket because of a defect from factory.

I have found the mag springs are the primary source of issues in striker fired 10mm. The extra power mag spring seems to solve the issues as it both slows reward slide velocity and presents cartridge to feed ramp in a more timely manner… I haven’t found extra recoil spring to matter much..in some cases it made things worse. I believe this is because manufactures use same mag spring regardless of caliber…. Using an extra power spring may reduce capacity..and they dont want that. 1911s benefit from a flat bottom firing pin stop..this allows for lower slide velocity without the need for a change in mag springs.. Extra power recoil springs can increase return velocity of the slide..exacerbating low power mag springs.

The bonus package on the 357 sig, the necked down case makes for absolutely no chambering issues. The most reliable I have ever carried.

Well done. It would be good for hunting or shooting through concrete or a wind shield. For self and home defense, please be careful of over penetration. It would go along way.

10mm is a beast! but 357 SIG is also a perfect solution for most situations. Not sure why underwood loads the X Penetrator 25 ft lower than their 125gr. The 115gr can safely be loaded to 1600fps = 650ft-lbs on a projectile that is velocity dependent.

I own the 4", the 4.6", and the comped PC. Haven't had one problem with the shorter ones, but the PC has been a headache. By the way, even the Glock 20 has only a 17lb OEM recoil spring. Either way, I've since made some orders with Springer, Galloway, and Wolff. Pretty sure that'll take care of the issues. Oh, and take this from an Alaskan who has shot bear, unless you're in truly LARGE animal country you really don't need 200 or 220gr hardcast for deadstop on your puny little black bears and pigs. 180gr at 1200 or 1250 will be quite sufficient.

Now all you need to do is visit Apex Tactical and turn this sidearm into a rockstar😁 At least change out the striker block with the Apex product. It'll smooth out that trigger and remove the creep.

357 sig still gapped the 10 despite the shorter barrel. I feel pretty confident if the barrel lengths were equal the penetration difference would have been a bit greater. You can’t go wrong with either one but the Sigs ticks more boxes for my needs .

It's strange that everytime I see a 357 vs 10mm video the 357 always has the lowest grain? It's never a grain greater like they use with the 10mm. 357 has 142 grain, use it when compared with 10mm next time.

I think if it were me I would test the way you would carry and I assume you would carry a fully loaded mag with one in the pike ready to go. I don't think you carry with 5 in the mag. I know there expensive but my life is worth testing for reliability the way I would carry, no matter what it would cost.

100% concur. And it's ironic that with this particular gun, more specifically its magazine, it's precisely between the 5th and 6th round positions in the stack where the hardcasts induce the mag drop or other stoppages, by pushing on the mag catch. Rounder bullets like FMJ, HP or Xtreme Penetrators do not cause this due to their shape.

Same problem occurs with the S&W MP 380, last round stove pipe. Solution was to rough-up with sandpaper the plastic follower part in the mag so that the last round doesn't slide forward from the second-to last ammo going into the chamber. Search here on YT, this seems to happen quite often. Disapointed in S&W to say the least.

I have done a fair amount of research on issues everyone has been having with gun. I haven't personally looked at the extractor but that's next because I like S&W and won't give up on this firearm. What I have found to be true is it varies from ammo manufacturers which under more detail, boils down to the ogive of the projectile used. The typical .400 projectile is usually a wide curve leading to a large flat point. Depending on the actual dimensions, it appears the ammo under tension of the mag spring will occasionally hit the mag eject button and trigger the mag to drop while shooting. This is of course more relevant to hand loading ammo. The ogive could potentially lead to feeding issues with the ramp also. This has varied from user to user but I do know that it jams often for people on the last round in the mag, leading to believe its a spring issue in mag. I have upgraded mag spring and 22lb heavier recoil spring and guide rod in mine but it will still jam from time to time. Still a work in progress.
@languagesource355
@languagesource355 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it's definitely the ogive of the 200gr and 220gr hardcast bullets, doesn't matter if handloads or from Buffalo Bore/Underwood. More specifically, the magazine's "channeling ribs", which compress the double stack into one column. These are "too close" to the mag catch window, allowing those thicker bullets to contact the mag catch and eject the mag. Yes, it's not the mag spring but the meplat of the bullet that pushes out the mag catch, there are write-ups with photos of this online. This happens between the 5th and 6th round positions in the stack. Try loading 10 rounds of "anything else" (FMJ, HP, Xtreme Penetrators, anything with a rounder profile/narrower meplat), topped with 5 of the 200/220gr hardcast (+1 in the chamber). You should have zero issues with your upgraded magazine springs and RSA. FWIW I run 24lb. and 26lb. RSA's and they still function with weaker ammo, while slightly dampening the recoil of the real stuff. Hope this helps :) BTW, zero issues with any ammo if loading only 5 per mag, assuming the stronger springs have been installed. Nothing seems to be wrong with the feed ramp. Feed lips are weird and short, though.

Same here, at least on 4 out of my 10 mags with upgraded stronger springs. Hopefully they'll settle and accept the 15th round. I'll try leaving them loaded for a few days, at least when I can afford to get some 10mm ammo :)

The functionality of the auto pistol depends on the recoil and mag springs, and can be interrelated. I had a Kahr that had a problem with rounds nosediving and hanging on the feed ramp. After two trips to Kahr, turned out the mag springs were too stout, and wouldn't allow the rounds to strip out of the mag. Discovered that after the springs were shortened 1 1/2 turns, it ran perfectly.
