The exaggerations and simplifications of this vid are rediculous. I'm all for better quality and comfort. But I'd rather get a $40 pair that lasts 1 year rather than a $400 pair that lasts 4 years (pay 10 times more for only 4 times longer use?). In 4 years you could have 4 pairs of $40 shoes (with total cost of $160) and change up the styles/trends you like.. and in 1 yr the shoes may not even have too much time to show wear, vs paying $400 and essentially being stuck with the same style for years which will show wear and tear.

@Vlad You forget to factor in the comfortableness that comes with expensive shoes. Trends, looks, longevity, etc... all come second after *comfort*. Shoes are something that you wear everyday, What's the point of having dozens of cheap shoes if wearing them feels like a raccoon is biting your ankle constantly?

Dress shoes are like tools, go to Home Depot and buy a Dewalt miter saw and then to Harbor Freight Tools and buy a cheap saw and then tell me if you notice the difference. Dress shoes don’t go out of style, my Oxfords look exactly the same as the shoes my dad wore 30 years ago! I look at value rather then cost and when it comes to dress shoes, $400 is a bargain, but everyone is different, some ppl only buy a pair of shoes for one special occasion and for them tossing $400 is a waste of money, but for someone who wears dress shoes regularly it’s worth every penny.

"Quality Over Quantity." I hate to see people using fake leather cause it's very visible to the human eye, it's better to pay for quality wear no matter the price cause it'll make you look and feel better plus will be investing on something that'll last you lifetime. Cheers!

The main difference in the shoes is the amount of profit the company is keeping. If you want someone else to take your money then buy the $400 Shoe. Real leather shoes can easily be bought for $40.

I don’t think it’s always that easy. Companies like Alden and Allen Edmonds are 100% made in the USA and are Goodyear welted. The leather is better quality and have leather oak soles. Trust me, there isn’t a shoe in the $40 range that has all that.

$400 dollar dress shoes will last me 200 uses and still look great, they wear nicely and I can refurbish them and look even nicer, $40 shoes more likely will last me 10 uses if I get lucky and look terrible. I don’t mind buying clothes at Walmart, but when it comes to dress shoes, Allen Edmonds are worth every dollar. The best financial advice I got was that a poor man cannot afford to buy cheap stuff.

People don't really understand the craftsmanship that goes into the process of making quality clothing and shoes, so they call them "overpriced" or "too expensive". As a fashion designer, I understand that quality material is everything! It's the difference between just okay and great. Just like the famous saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Great video!

A quick money saving tip I have is to buy gently used Allen Edmonds on ebay. I got a nearly new pair of allen edmonds loafers on ebay for 45 bucks rather than 300. you get the excellent craftsmanship and quality for cheap. Also since Allen Edmond isn't a trendy designer name you don't need to worry much about counterfeits.

Of course the Allen Edmonds speaks for itself. That's the beauty of well crafted shoes. The feel and comfort of hand crafted shoes itself makes you spend more on it as soon as you buy a single pair. Hello Jose, my experience of buying quality english shoes was a NIGHTMARE. I saved up enough money (GBP 385.00) to buy a pair of black calf cavendish tassel loafers from Crockett and Jones. I had my feet measured at crockett and jones in Jermyn street. My feet measured a size 7, and I was given a size 6.5 to try on. I tried on the 7 it felt too big, 6.5 was slipping on the back and 6 was the perfect sungfit which I thought was my size. I bought the pair feeling on top of the world !!!....I wore the shoes at home on the carpet and after a while they started to hurt me and feel very tight...I thought maybe a need to break them in. But after two days I returned them for a refund. After 6 months or so, I went back to C&J because I really fell in love with the shoes and could not find a pair on the market which I liked. I went back and purchased a size 6, cavendish black calf tassel loafer, I wore for special occasions only because they were so expensive, and my feet did hurt, but I thought you have to break them in. After a year, I bought another pair in polo suede which was my holy grail shoe, after working hard and saving up I brought a pair in size 6. Now every time I wore these shoes my feet would kill me...I thought this can not be right so I went back to C&J after 2 years and spoke to the manger...he told me that he can have the shoes stretched for me, but I refused and told him to measure my feet, and tell me what size I should be buying. He told me that I should have bought size 7 or 6.5 at a push. They offered to make the shoes bigger at a cost. They let me walk out of their shop with the wrong size. I ended up selling both pairs on eBay for GBP 200.....I lost about GBP 570 QUID. Priceless advice to all you gentleman out there, you can spend hundreds of pounds and dollars on shoes....go to the best....from john lobb, C&Js, trickers, churches, edward green etc....BUT if you get a sales assistant who just wants to make a sale and knows nothing about fitting and sizing experience... then forget it, go and buy a pair of cheap shoes. I was a great believer in buying 1 pair of quality shoes that will last you and be an investment but I am too scared now to buy another pair. When you buy a pair of good quality shoes make sure 100% percent that you are being served by a person who is experienced and qualified. DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I MADE...AND NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE SAY.....SHOES NEVER NEED TO BE BROKEN INTO...THEY SHOULD NEVER HURT.... Thats my story Jose. thanks mate....and yes I love the allen edmonds !!!

I followed and subscribed your video and it has become my morning routine now. And as a shoe person myself,I just clicked the Like button even before watching the video lol. I know this is going to be a good video and yes it is, just as I thought. Keep up the good work man!

Amazing shoes. I noticed on the website they look different, did you polish the tip and the heel to make them look darker? Great job! Subscribed and shared.
