Most boiled eggs will peel easily if you just tap against the table, and then roll the egg under your palm the way you would roll freezer cookie dough. Usually the shell just sort of flakes off easily with minimal effort.

20:40... yes you can boil an egg in your kettle. Did this many years ago... before t'internet was available to the masses. Trust me.. it taints yer kettle... yer morning cuppa will never ever taste the same.. don't do it
@fiskrond92123 жыл бұрын
@Shawn Mendrek easy poached eggs in microwave.... boil water in kettle, add enough to a small round bowl (keeps the white together better), put in microwave at full power for 65-70 seconds (assuming a standard budget microwave.. start with 60 seconds and try 10 second increments until you get them the way you want them). Leave in microwave while you sort your toast out. Remove carefully with a straining ladle or use a saucer held against the bowl at 90°.. whites done, runny yolk... job done! Cover lightly just_in_case cos cleaning exploded egg from microwave not much fun.. from personal trial-and-error... I started with 2 minutes.. this was unwise. With experimentation you will be able to co-ordinate the correct timing that your toast is done and buttered just when the eggs are exactly the way you want them! The beauty of using microwave vs hob is that the results will be consistant (and less washing-up... lol)! :-)
@fiskrond92123 жыл бұрын
@Shawn Mendrek just eat them raw then.. crack 2 into a mug, beat them up with a fork, season to taste.. never done me any harm! Organic taste so much better.. especially when you have someone local (with just a few hobby birds), and yer getting them within 12hrs of laying... :-)
@fiskrond92123 жыл бұрын
@Shawn Mendrek for some reason I thought you were a Brit... lol... I don't know about organic eggs making you feel physically better but they deffo taste better which is due to natural diet and genuine free-roaming birds on a hillside field behind his house. Not sure about duck eggs... upon cooking the white seems to go rubbery and the yolk too rich and slightly sulphurous... then again it is quite possible that they need to be cooked at different temp/time to chicken eggs to get best results...
@fiskrond92123 жыл бұрын
@Shawn Mendrek $6 for organic eggs... o_O ... that's a bit pricey!? As for the raw eggs.. you don't sip it like a smoothie.. you just down it... it is honestly nowhere near as unpleasant as it sounds and our digestive physiology goes back waay before our ancestors discovered fire
It was fun to watch Thank you. I enjoyed it. Question: What can you do with the "the egg in vinegar trick" (the bouncing egg ) after you play with it for a while? Can you cook it or something or is it a wasted egg? Thanks.

Thank You, I love hacks ! One suggestion, if I may, a bit more info might help some of us. OK, that being said, this is a great idea to save time.

That egg yolk at 9:20 to 27 has a blood spot on it! I always remove the "strings" (there is always one and, rarely, two, which is the umbilical cord of the chick which the egg will become. I just don't like eating an umbilical cord! It's almost bad enough to eat a chick embryo, I just don't think about it because I like eggs, but I remove that white cord. If I'm cooking and the recipe calls for several eggs, I beat them with my immersion blender to thoroughly get rid of the "string!" And using an egg slicer for mushrooms and strawberries or whatever, stretches the wires and will soon ruin your egg slicer! It's made for eggs, use a knife to slice everything else!

I have had the best luck using this method: After eggs are done, drain the water from the pan. Toss the eggs in the pan until they are well cracked all over. Immediately, pour cold water in the pan to cover the eggs and dump crushed ice over them. (I have an ice maker on my fridge so ice is not a problem for me. Give the eggs enough time for the icy water to cool down completely. Than drain the cold water (or fish the eggs out. They should peel quite easily.now.

Making candles out of egg shells was used during the 1800's and used in outside church services. They would have several around a Brush Arbor and were placed in bowls of salt to keep them upright, this is from my ancestor writings. The burn was from Bear Grease melted and poured into the eggs with wicks.

You are right, the wires loosen in time and it's hard to make them tighter, because they're usually bent down and hammered into position and they break of you try to pull them tighter. Just get a new one, they're not expensive. And don't use it to slice anything but eggs! Even with eggs, in years of use, the wires will loosen.
