Very charming. It is good to see my country through a visitor's eyes. I hope you enjoy your next visit to America.

If you go to Aldi in america, they don't pack your groceries, and you have to pay for bags too. Although, I think aldi is a German company.
@Gat2muve34647 жыл бұрын
bagodbolt Aldi is from Germany! And it's normal to pack the bags by yourself. That's one reason why it's cheaper. In Germany you have to pay for bag because you think about using it more often or bring your own bags because it's better for the environment.

I found your video highly entertaining, funny, and spot on. LMAO. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in the U.S.A. My only regret is that I, and most of my friends, who are HIGHLY EDUCATED, can't speak a foreign language at all, let alone as well as you speak English. All the best.
@teaartist64556 жыл бұрын
Go learn one! You don't need a class or course to learn a new language, in fact, most language classes at school I've ever been to were quite bad and I had to learn almost everything outside of school. Language schools seem to be different but normal schools really just want to teach it in a way that allows them to grade you on it. There are some people with a 1 in their English Abitur that can't hold a conversation in English. There's also no time limit on when you can learn one so don't think that it's too late just because you've finished school. If you feel a bit lost on your own there are a lot of apps that can help you learn in the beginning. I don't think there is any that will take you all the way, but they should teach you enough for you to start reading books, watching videos and writing comments in that language and learn more that way (70-80% of my English skills are from reading and watching English things, all but about 2-3% of the rest is from translating a text).
@dm-gq5uj5 жыл бұрын
I think the sheer size of the country puts us at a disadvantage when it comes to learning another language. I studied French in hs and college, but when you are living in the heartland, you don't meet many French people, so you miss the live interaction which is crucial when you are learning a language. If you don't get a chance to speak it outside of class you forget it. (Obviously, Spanish is probably the easiest and most practical language to learn and retain because of the Hispanic population.) European tourists tend to visit the coasts rather than flyover country. And it's expensive to travel to Europe, especially once you have kids. Germans who go on a ski vacation can go to Italy or France and practice their languages there. If they want sun, they go to Greece or Spain. Americans who go on a ski vacation go to Colorado rather than the Alps, and to Florida or California. Europeans can pick up other languages because their countries are much more compact. And if you speak Dutch or Czech or Polish, you are practically forced to learn other languages if you want to speak to anybody outside your own country. English is so widely spoken that English speakers don't feel the same need to learn other languages.

Some truth, but not all. Remember we have 4 major regions in America. Each region, state, city, and town is unique in its own way.
@maybluekin94147 жыл бұрын
Todd Smith We need two new regions. A "different gender" region where all of the transsexuals and confused people live and a "Muslim" region. Put them in the southwest all along the border of Mexico and build a wall to protect these two regions from the illegal immigrants and then fire artillery shells at the two regions for 40 days and 40 nights. America will be united as one again.
@user-xm5le5ok2r7 жыл бұрын
Stupid comment! We need a region for idiots like you.
@Minecraftrok9997 жыл бұрын
Todd Smith well most (not all) of what she is talking about is kind of independent from the region, and of course you can see cultural variety in such a massive country, you can do that in a lot of countries, in example, the South of Germany is vastly different from the North or the (ex GDP) East.

Almost all of these are typical southern things if you go to a northern state it will be a lot different, we have different cultures and tend to not like being clumped into a single generalization about America because then people assume we're all southern

Well, turn all these around and you get why Americans feel weird in Germany. Except for the pregnant sixteen year old thing. I didn't know any pregnant teens back when I was a teen, here, in America. Also, Colorado is very different from places like Virginia and Texas and California -- each of which would be like visiting a different country.

Hello weeklysugar, I concur, the things that bothered you about the U.S. also bother me. I could easily add many more idiosyncrasies that I dislike about the U.S. and my fellow countrymen however, there are far more that I love about it. From all my travels I noticed all countries (including Germany) have there great, not so great and ugly things about them all, just like here in the U.S.

I'm sorry you ended up in a high school where "cussing" and drinking and doing make-up in class are so big, because they're not all true everywhere, as well as 24/7 TV, and the pregnancy rate. Ewwww! Country music! To each his own, as long as it's not illegal, immoral or fattening. : )) Also, just rest assured I'm not commenting above because I was rebellling against your "prejudice", since I didn't take it that way. You merely commented on what you saw. It's okay.
