Nice one Dan. Well at least it's the middle of February, the days are getting a little longer and we are going in the right direction. If we didn't have bad days, we wouldn't appreciate the good ones. Keep on keeping on!

Stick with Howes fuel treatment. Always Always have Howes fuel treatment in your truck never change. Buy Howes fuel treatment and keep putting it in when you are in the mid west. It’s not worth the break down cost. Fuel up put Howes in.I have learned my lesson after a few times 😁😄

I'd say you got some shit fuel. sounds like the fuel had water in it. it happens. Glad you got her warmed up and rolling again. I also use Howes. and learned to keep extra bottles in the truck incase the truck stop is sold out or doesn't carry it. be safe out there.

It COULD be bad fuel....but another thing I thought of when I first saw this...I used to have a 2007 379...It was a southern truck originally but it was bought by our company which is from Minnesota...long story short - because they never thought they'd need it apparently, they never bothered to put a HEATER on the water separator for the fuel....and being that I was trucking in MN, and WI and Chicago, etc a lot...you can probably imagine it gets kinda chilly there sometimes....and no matter HOW much additive I'd put in sometimes, when it's COLD and the wind is blowing pretty good, it would end up freezing up....I must've replaced 5-6 fuel filters on that thing that winter....and all but 1 of them were after having done everything humanly possible to keep them from freezing over. So, since you're from Arizona (if memory serves?), I figured maybe you had a similar issue. Just a thought =)

+Hawksforever99 Your right this is an Arizona truck. I bought this truck new. It was a leftover of an order from a fleet out of Nogales Az. It doesn't even have a block heater that's why careful when it gets real cold. I just don't like to Run my truck all night and it cost me in the long run.

Well Dan, I guess the worm got on the way, but, I am glad that you set this video because I've seen some trucks smoking like that and I was wondering if it was a very bad engine problem, but, since you recall this, I can see it was not that bad, so, thanks for the info. Joe.

I’m guessing your last fuel up had bio diesel in it. Bio diesel is only rated to about -10C . You needed winter diesel which is rated to about -35C.

Sir Dan !!! Just caught this video !!!! When I went to fuel at any T/S no matter where ,,If I saw a tanker dumping fuel ,,I wouldn't get any just for the reason that the tank would be riled up till it sat for a while !! Do the same thing for the car/p/u truck today !!! Just a thought !!! ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!

In extreme cold weather, I let my rig idle all night. It's keeps the fuel warm, the batteries charged, and the rig warm. I know it uses a gallon an hour, but 10 gallons is cheaper than the mechanic. Those APU's are great during regular weather.... not so much in extreme cold.

With the old UK Gardener and Cummins engines, non turbo'd, they used Petrol to prevent freezing pipes. ratio 1 gallon petrol to 65 gallons Deisel. (Airlines frozen was a case of lighting a oily rag under her)

I never shut one down in those temps. Let that fuel get cold, and your going to have issues. With the engine running your putting warm fuel back into the tanks. That always let me roll. But the only 2 times I could not idle. Frozen truck and has to tarp it with heaters under it for hours.
@timekeeper26757 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan - I see the tarps you use say Mercer do they supply all tarps binders and chains tiedowns ? I'm looking to sign on with them just doin a little homework - nice rig and great videos . Thanks !

it sounds like bad fuel probably had water in it you filled one tank it also might have condensation that froze my bull wagon jelled once in Wyoming I never shut it off at night since even with additives

Not all fuel additives are the same. I still thin fuel out with gasoline.

You seem to be having a lot of luck recently Dan, all of it bad. Back in the old days we used to put a gallon of petrol or paraffin in a 100 gallon tank but I suppose that wouldn't work with modern engines, prob. illegal too I'll bet.
@davidoverstreet02463 жыл бұрын
Before the head gasket? Or was it a fuel problem instead of a head gasket. My dad uses 2.5 gallons of kerosene in each tank plus the 911 stuff

If you did not buy the specific Lucas antigel. Regular Lucas has no antigel in it. Have seen a few make that mistake. Either that or you some real shitty fuel.
@SuperTruckerdan7 жыл бұрын
+wht A Lucas just started making a fuel anti-gel additive. This is the first year that I've seen it on the shelf I know the stuff you're talking about in the white bottle of the injector cleaner but this is in a bottle looks like the howes anti-gel
@wht41327 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know they make antigel, you don't see it at many truckstops. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who buy the gallon jug of fuel treatment and think its an antigel. Sounds like you got some terribly water laden fuel. Good luck.

I sure hate to raise this but it's possible that someone tampered with your tank or maybe put water in your tank you just never know, need to insulate your fuel lines with the Styrofoam or?? when it warms up and maybe cover the fuel filters?? I know I never did in 30 yrs but since retiring and living in a 30ft rv now I know it gets nippy here in Minnesota in winter cold enough to freeze the fur off your family jewels just say, in well keep the wooly side up and we,lo catch you on the Blvd some day I hope.
