Hey, you were awesome dude, the best review I saw you must make a video for upgrades for the MWS too
@Jonytofu2 жыл бұрын
Best video I've seen on this topic so far! Would be helpful if we could see and compare measurements from a completely stock MWS with a stock barrel (essentially a control experiment) so we could estimate differences. Because my stock MWS chrono'd at 340 FPS with 0.2 g so it's a completely different starting baseline.
@pingu.02112 жыл бұрын
What’s your ambient? Most mws are going to do 310-330 with 70f ambient. So it’s fairly redundant. (The raven barrel only gave a 5-10 fps boost over stock)
@Jonytofu2 жыл бұрын
@@pingu.0211 Thanks for your response. It was hot when I chrono'd, probably around 77f, so perhaps a reference is redundant. Looking at your results with the stock bolt and 0.2g across different barrel lengths/bores, it doesn't look like there is a significant difference in FPS compared to stock...so maybe the valve would be the way to go for people looking to increase FPS in a stock MWS

I found that getting pdi directly from Japan, it's much cheaper than lambda. Plus, the yens value is going down, which brings the price down even more.

Absolutely, I was surprised as well. Only trouble is trying to figure out how to use the xfire site!!! That in itself could need a tutorial.

That's awesome mate, I wish there were more reviews like this one, really good stuff! That consistency with lambda 425 / .32 and the Ice Pick though... that's AEG level. May I ask some questions about these tests ? - Did you set the hop for each BB weight or just ran with not hop ? - Do you notice higher gas consumption with the Ice Pick Valve ? - About MWS mags in general, have you noticed FPS variance between them? That's something I'm struggling a bit with my VFC mags. Keep the good stuff rolling mate🤘
@pingu.0211 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Appreciate it! Wish there was more technical info out there as well. So decided to pick up the camera myself to try to help the problem. - No changes to hop were made, so there will be variance in the FPS when hop is adjusted - Yes, slightly more cooling effect, but largely did not impact function to a major degree (Maybe less shots per mag, or poor cold weather performance. But under normal conditions, very functional) - Yes, Largely my mags have been consistent, but some newer mags seems to be a little hotter (10 fps or so). Luckily, normal operation has been pretty consistent though. MWS over all other platforms seem to deal with variance much better than most. Leading to them being less temperamental
@SpartanAirsoftNY2 жыл бұрын
Why this gem of a video I just found out like just now. Also my MWS not holding mag after like 50 fills with propane. So after clear out the air inside the magazine and do a Green Gas mod. The mag can hold more gas than usual for colder weather.

Super! Thanks for this! Seems like it's the Ice Pick that accounts for the biggest increase in FPS? I also may have missed it, but were you using green gas or hfc 143a for the chrono tests?
@pingu.02112 жыл бұрын
Green Gas/Propane! And yes, the valve will be the biggest FPS booster by far. PDI barrels SUS 304 6.01mm barrels seem to give more of an FPS boost as well.

Fantastic Lambda 425mm 6.05mm Inner Barrel

Keep up the good work! I just installed an ice pick valve, and it’s doing 10 inch groups at 100 yards. However, I’m running into what looks like double feeding on full auto. I’ll fire 2 or 3 rounds and then after that, bbs will start rolling out of the barrel. I’ve got a 370mm laylax barrel, laylax hop arm, upgraded nozzle return spring, and some washers in the buffer tube to prevent overtravel. There is a little but of bolt bounce, but it seems like the nozzle is maintaining its seal regardless so I’m at a loss for what to do. If I can’t have full auto, it’s fine since it’s a DMR, but it would be nice to have. Any ideas?

Definitely one of the most informative videos on the MWS and props to you for that. Though I am wondering if you tighten the barrel nut enough on each build? My MWS has a Prommy 6.03 363mm inner (not the best, but fairly decent), ML 50 degree autobot, and SP chamber+nub and is hitting 410-420 with .2g. The bolt/nozzle assembly is stock except for a 150% spring set and the last chrono was Friday, just under 60f
@Fyuil2802 жыл бұрын
Really informative video! Just one question though, with the poseidon ice pick jacking up FPS significantly, would you say there are any concerns with the nozzle (or any components of the bolt for that matter) blowing out? I would imagine you would want to upgrade the nozzle return spring but anything else?
@pingu.02112 жыл бұрын
No upgrades necessary from my findings. You may want to replace the plastic buffer on hot days, but it should be mostly fine!

I can’t decide between the laylax and the pdi. Does compatibility matter? (laylax hop arm and autobot 60 degree bucking) PDI also offers a widebore 6.15mm. what about that barrel?

Personally, I use the PDI. But you’re splitting hairs. I would get what’s available and in the length that you want. Wide bores are generally not advisable. There’s a few videos out by smarter people than me. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGLQcnaBhJiEh80

Hey! Thank you for the videos, they are fantastic. I would like to get my MK18 up to around 1.5J…according to your video with .32, it’s around 1.6+ Joules…can you alter that? Factory nozzle is only about 1.2…any suggestions to hit that sweet spot for MilSim?
@pingu.02112 жыл бұрын
Each MWS is going to play differently, so Id recommend doing your own testing, that being said, I wouldn't chase Joules too much. You can play with Different gases and nozzles, but you won't ever hit a consistent 1.5j in all conditions, just not possible with Gas guns due to temperature. I would try getting a Guns modify nozzle, and testing weights and gases first. But stay around 1.5j at 90F at max. Or have winter and summer setups.
@MrTarheel19992 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud, you’re probably right, chasing joules is just numbers. Ultimately I want the performance of being able to reach out to 180-200’ with a .32 or .40. I’ll mess with it…I think the hop up arm I got will help a lot.
@pingu.02112 жыл бұрын
@@MrTarheel1999 .32 stock gun (new bucking and arm) no wind can hit 200 ft headshots all day at 1.3J roughly. .43’s at 1.5j can stretch that out to 300 ft with light winds. So you should still be good to go

@pingu.02112 жыл бұрын
@@MrTarheel1999 I use PDI W hold mostly, but I also run anywhere from .25 to .32g depending on the field. The Stock bucking wasn't able to take those higher ranges. but you could do .25g and keep the gun completely stock.
