I had to google feet to cm haha. I'm 177cm. Not sure exactly the reason for the parachute. But I heard if we loose 1m height (for example when the engine is off), then we could fly for 2 more meters. If we had a fixed thick wing, maybe the plane would be too heavy. Or it simply wouldn't glide that well. No idea hehe
