The LS2 408 stroker in Josh's Chevy Trailblazer SS was not making the power he expected. It was built to go fast but a small cam was holding it back. When we tore it down we found some damage and decided to replace all the bearings and clean up everything else at the same time. Once it was together we found out the rod bearing came out of a box for a different engine. We fixed it but it was too late, these were NOT the dyno numbers we wanted to see.

The nice thing about getting into an engine for the 3rd or 4th time, is you can be pretty sure most of the bolts are going to come out pretty easy. No torch, hammering, penetrating oil, cursing, busted knuckles, etc.

*i bought the Milwaukee compressor right after i saw you with the 12v soldering iron and bought it and the air pump both (tool only) for $79.00 each. the pump is slow but amazing, it's great to set it to a pressure and it cuts off on it's own once it gets there. love that!*

Ahhh thought this was a 3rd time engine pull. This was done BEFORE the live stream engine pull. Makes more sense. Also that Milwaukee Tire Pump makes me think back to when JR and his brother getting all of that farm equipment back when JR was a Dwalt only guy.

Make sure you have the correct pickup tube o-ring. There are orange ones and blue ones. Also many cases where someone pinched the o-ring upon install which led to oil pressure problems.

I am having a bearing issue with my envoy Denali. I bought the car with a Texas speed cam dod delete and do not know what stage was used. I now have metal in my pan and dipstick. I have a knock that sounds more like a tap the increase and decrease in harmony with rpm. Oil pressure drops to zero? Can I get away with changing the bearings? Still builds oil pressure 40 psi cold 20 warm at idle drops to 5 at idle then 0 after about 45 minutes of idling. At idle sounds like a tick through out the head but sound also is loud midway. Any direction would help kinda on a 2k budget

The TBSS is easy to work on and comfy, you can go as fast as you want. The X5M rides like it's on rails and has limited power. X5M parts are wildly expensive. They both look killer... I don't really know. 😬

Maybe checking clearances all the time might help sounds like that motor is junk though I hate to say it did not sound good on the dyno and just throwing an extra set of bearings and it is not going to help that thing needs to be cleaned up new oil pump the whole nine yards again I feel so bad for Josh right now although he kept a smile on his face. I'm confused how pulling an LS2 out of a Trailblazer is the easiest thing in the world. I pulled one from a junkyard SS and it was a nightmare. That truck is very cramped for a V8.

It went to the machine shop to find out why it continues to chewcup and spit out rod bearings. Turns out the crank had a crack in it. New crank is on the way! - josh

it is a known issue, please replace the stock oil pump while your in there. high pressure low flow, it will make a difference

My understanding of the Trailblazer SS is it has a full time AWD system that cannot be run without the front driveshaft removed. It's the same transfer case as my 04 Escalade. How did that SS go into 2WD mode?

@GSR 01 Doesn't that require changing the transfer case, or reprogramming the ECM? The TBSS and the Escalade/Denali use the same transfer case, which you can't just remove the front driveshaft, and expect everything to work ok.

So you can buy the TBSS either way from the factory. This truck was AWD but was converted. Like BraapAttack said, transfer case deleted, transmission changed to 4L80e. 💪
