I grew up in Anchorage 60's and 70's. We were constantly warned to stay away from the Turnagain Arm Bore and stay off the mud flats. It was a shocker when windsurfers started sailing the upper end at Portage. Now it's amazing how many people surf and kayak the Bore. Stay off the mud flats. They are quick sand. Your stuck and then the tide comes rolling in. Your dead. Be safe in your adventures.

I'm from Alaska but living in Seattle for years. Took my wife up to surf the turnagain bore, and even with 30 yrs surf experience between us by far the scariest thing was the mud flats. Ended up getting a 2 mile wave tho!!

Right on Hyperflex! I just looked those up! They look killer and good prices for top-of-the-line equipment like that (they're gonna cost more than entry-level stuff). Hyperflex, keep hooking up Ben Gravy!!! He's repping you excellent! Killer vibe from your brand.

It’s also because this is a 30 minute video with one minute of surfing… it’s a pretty unappealing video style. I just had to fast forward 27 minutes to see anything close to surfing

@@nicklockwood5728 agree, he has 20 min of nothing at the start of every vid... people come for the surfing
@colebaumann9850 Жыл бұрын
agreed, but he surfs everything but the ocean. he needs to just stick with some good typical content too. he's not drawing many surfers because surfers don't care about a2 foot tidal bore.

I went to the mother channel, and found nothing new, but had some great laughs reminiscing about the good ol days. Came to this channel, and was plesently surprized with you introduction mentioning Nub Nation, and having an actual high quality video. New sub immediately. SKIIIIIIIIYOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Wow, what great scenery for the fun and wacky experience of riding a tidal bore. When the Severn Bore was my nearest local wave I used to thoroughly enjoy it - most of the time it was a similar, small mushy wave (to the the one in the vid) but surprisingly fast (in terms of the whole, entire width of the wave, it felt like it traveled over the ground faster than any soft ocean wave). Once in a while, on the right bit of the river it could be better - bigger, faster and steeper. It is the easiest of waves to score because the days with the big tides are known and the times when the bore will arrive equate exactly to high tide and that too, is accurately predicted on tide timetables available on the internet or in a mariner's almanac. I remember chatting to a true Severn Bore local who said that because he could see, months ahead, exactly when the chances of a good wave would likely occur, he could put it in his diary and organise his work, time spent with his wife and everything else in his life around it - how many ocean surfers (and their partners) would give their right arm for that ? That said, the Severn Bore can be a little late, perhaps up to 40 minutes, if down river wind and/or high levels of freshwater are running down the river delay it, it could spell disaster for a hot date !

I loved the inlet. Spent three weeks just vaninig Alaska even hit Kodiak island man that place is just indescribable. Dahl sheep eagles moose grizzlies wolves and it's all just hanging out wherever you go. There's a cool place called the sea shell cabin that sits on the cliff at the end of the inlet I stayed there just to watch the tide. Dude that's a ride! Glad you got to live in the dream!!❤️. Enjoy your Travels. Ask about the A frame house with the waterfall. You'll love the view and up at the top of the mountain is a lake with iceburgs floating around. Wish I could be there to hit some spots. But youll find them. You're good people 👍
