The photo of the mother holding her baby in the Spitalfield slums in London was the most touching to me 😆😆🥲 Thanks for posting this beautiful video of old photos ‼️👏🏻❤️

Yes, that's a very touching picture. How old must she have been.... maybe not even 40..... The poor life and hardships makes her look as if she could be the child's grandmother. 😢😢

Very nicely done! Between the photos and music, it transports one back to a much simpler time.

0:32 - she is not the child's mother but looked after it for tea and bread while the mother worked.

I always thought that Charlotte Rampling was unmistakably the most beautiful woman ever, out shining even MM. She had a smoky sultry look. Amazing. I don’t even think we saw enough of her.

the topic of conversation may have been the price of tea in China .. which i read was a real topic of conversation back in the day- which day i forgot.. =P Vivian Leigh's dress reminds me of the skit from the Carol Burnett show when she descends the stairs wearing curtains, rod and all, spoofing Gone with the Wind.. the shy young woman peaking thru her fingers is an adorable image. i did a little research on John Buchan's Greenmantle- it was from a whole series. when i was a kid there was a department store downtown that used pneumatic tubes to conduct sales- everytime i go to the drive thru at the bank, i think of that store. i thoroughly enjoyed the I Love Lucy Show! my maternal gramma bore a slight resemblance to Lucille Ball, both in a appearance and character/demeanor! I've got a picture of her, feet away from where I'm sitting- she's standing next to a puddle out in the country , holding a stringer of fish..on her nose is a knitted nose warmer with a tassel hanging off the end of it! she's wearing wide legged polyester pants with a big collared blouse and jacket over top! yep it was the 60's!

In the 1920s in England you could "sign the pledge" and get a illustrated card, I remember seeing my mother's certificate when I was young.

My grandmother was 12 when she was sent off to Canada by her father “thanks” to Dr. Barnardo. I would not be here if she did not come to Canada, but at 12 she was basically a maid for the family in Lindsay, Ontario who took her.

Alcohol sign, I grew up in an alcoholic family and myself have been an alcoholic, it really is a horrible drug, not for everyone but for some it brings out the very worse in behavior.

Oh dear, I got the anti drinking photo wrong. I really thought it was a group of men dressed up for fun, to be mischievous. Look at the photo and tell me that men would not consider their options.

People ask me where the cars came from and why we immolated them. Evil Productions was a group of film-making students at Piedmont High, classes 1949-1950, led by Louis Hough and me. In those days most cinematic car crashes ended by crumpling the vehicle against a tree. We wanted to know whether a well-made car could destroy itself by falling off a cliff. After the end of WW II, many cars that had survived went for scrap. We paid $80 for a 1936 Packard that barely ran, but it made up the hill to an abandoned shore-gun emplacement near Half Moon Bay. The clip 0:56 to 1:12 in this short appeared in The Inspector’s Revenge, starring Jack Hawley as the mobster Cascara and Tom Lowry as Sam Spayed. In 1958, MOMA entered our film at Expo 58 but it didn’t win any prizes.
