Q: Why was there more time spent on watching her tell us about how stunned & delighted people are to stay there (easily understandable), than in taking a camera through the place to get a sense of it ourselves? I would have loved some info on the circumference ratio to height of the main dome vs. the smaller side domes, and the material used for the floor, etc. Still, it was really good to see, and it was nice of her to mention the build cost. Thank you both!

This is THE mistake MOST youtubers who cover these type of interesting buildings sadly make. I'm not interested in the person as much as the building itself, the person can do the narration, explanations, tour, answer questions etc. Ofcourse, in this particular case, this is a pretty small building, so the video would be kinda short perhaps? :) Still enjoyed the video though.

Thanks for the feedback. I would love to make a follow up video with more detailed video and photos. For this one we did the best we could with the limited video we had but it's good to know that you'd like to see it in more detail. Thanks.

Are there any plans available? I would like to make one from big pieces of Styrofoam. Like make a mold so theire easy to replicate. And setup. Than just plaster over it.

Another very inspiring build! I do have lots of questions haha! For Dome Gaia as well as this build. So I am looking at property in Ecuador in an area with year round medium low humidity near the Andes mountains at higher elevations 5,000ft to 6,000ft above sea level. Im an older single momma lady with some medical issues, not super strong and i really only have full use of one of my arms so im working around a few limitations. However i am hell bent on building me dream dome home for myself and my kiddo, as well as a few cabins to eventuality rent out to tourists/campers :-) Well, I've seen the equipment on the website for the inner build and im all in on that full package. I think for me the basic building part seems a LOT easier than the finishing it beautifully part. This featured Costa Rica build is finished so lovely! I would really love a more detailed walkthrough of how she did the floor! Also, for areas that are getting wet, like her curved shower walls, what materials are used and how to clean them afterwards to prevent damaging them or getting mold growth or residue build up? For the Dome Gaia crew specifically, if i were mixing the foam and cement into 5 gallon buckets and mixing that up to pour into the brick molds, how much powder cement to how much foam would i use give or take? If im building all alone, i can't handle a huge garbage can full of mixture. The front door artwork on this build is stunning! Love the arched hallways and all the windows! This rental is so beautifully decorated! Hoping that you guys end up with a lot more awesome folks like this to interview and showcase dome building!

Your determination is inspiring. We have an online dome building course coming out soon that will have the answers to most of your questions about the finishing and also give you the opportunity to talk with out instructors about this. There are many different options to the main thing is understanding what properties you need in a finishing material and then you can find something available and suited to the local area. You can mix smaller batches of aircrete by just adjusting the recipe to smaller amounts while keeping the same ratio. Our online community would be a great place for you to ask more questions as well: circle.domegaia.com/

Very nice home design. Any idea what the labor cost was of the $40,000?

Roughly 2/3 on materials and 1/3 labor. This could vary a lot depending on the area.

How do these domes work in the USofA, with all the building codes and restrictions? I really like the way these look and the possibilities for personal expression but don't have any idea what the building restrictions would be here at home.

Getting building permits for these can depend on the area but our building methods have been approved by an engineer which makes it possible in many places. Contact us on our website if you want some help with this. domegaia.com

Looking at this new Dome building, I am getting kinda jealous. But I couldn’t get a building permit for aircrete in Panama West. So I just used concrete blocks like every person here. 😢 But I managed to build round walls. Just started to build my concrete ceiling/floor for the second level…..

I know someone build an Aircrete Dome In Panama right now that they got a building permit for. I'm not sure how they did it but we now have engineering on our construction methods that help.

@@domegaia I am building in a district where the engineers are very strict. 30km to the East, I wouldn’t had a problem to get a permit “under the table”. Interesting that he actually did go the way to get a permit. When I got my building permit handed out, the engineer said that I can be proud. It would be the first permit in that area. I didn’t understand that first. Because there are a couple houses already for years. The engineer understood my confusion and said: Not a lot do apply for one if they don’t have the money for it.

Really want to watch this, but like the last vid I was watching, the "background" music is FAR too loud and intrusive - it detracts from your video, rather than adding to it. What's the use of asking people questions, if your audience can't easily HEAR the answers? Maybe, for interviews and voice-overs, try background silence, or MUCH lower volume of "background" music. Thank you.

@@user-tz3vk7og8v I expect you're younger, with better hearing. As one ages, it becomes more difficult to hear conversation over the background noise. Sadly, it happens to pretty-well all of us...
