actually, the fragment of the emperor's own armour makes no sense in light of chaos terminator armour having the same force field effect. however the Crux Terminatus does/did have a fragment on the Emperor's own armour after the Emperor himself fell... so most likely it's more SM reverence and mythos, while the admech are equipping virtually all their more important people with a similar shield standard (cult mechanicus codex all techpriests in it have a 5+ even the virtually nude elctropriests) But even a SM disliking guy like me doesn't place the marine's intelligence quite so low, they probably are aware of the shield, but like any good sister player tells you whenever they roll that 6+ for their shield of faith save (despite actually having rolled the 3+ armour save), "it was the emperor".
@mikea23637 жыл бұрын
Jon De Oliveira Well, if we follow the codex Astartes rules about marine numbers, and the estimation of a thousand chapters, we get a total of 100.000 samples of terminator armor in the empire. Of course, this is actually a too high number, since terminator armor is rarely build nowadays, and most chapters would be lucky to have 10. But even with 100.000, they could have pieces of the Emperor's armor, since he was huge, his armor huger and a fragment can be the size of a grain of sand.

that's how you kill most threats in table top. so long as you can hurt it, massing the wounds on the target will statistically cause it to die. a few monstrous creatures (admech kastellan robots), and vehicles (land raiders) require stronger weapons, it's easy enough to prepare for most armies (even Sisters can fight against most armies)...it's rare to find something that you cant fight, like a 2 plus rerollable invulnerable saves with D psi abilities.

Yea I know but I feel like someone could make a really good game that way if they got creative about it. Maybe it could be a horror-esque game where you are the last survivors from a chaos invasion of your planet and you and your squad are trying to find a way off the planet or contact the imperium or something of that sort. So you could fight the normal cultists and such, and then like you would be forced to hide or kite the chaos marines and stuff. Just like you know an idea of something I thought could be cool.

But it would be cool to start of as either a PDF soldier or Guardsman and prepare for invasion and then desperate battles, heartbreaking scenes, ambushes and then guerrila warfare and in the end you get rescued and shot because nobody can remain untainted on a chaos world. It is unreasonable for the lore to make Terminator Armour standard kit for the Legions for the very reasons you stated. The Space Marines were envisioned (originally) in the lore as a sort of elite force suited for a wide range of unusual and difficult missions, like the irl Rangers, Airborne or Royal Marines, but not like the smaller SpecOps outfits like SEALs or SAS. Moving fast and striking hard were paramount for such forces, for which Terminator Armour is singularly unsuited. The only justification behind using Terminator suits was in conjunction with the Teleportarium, which can deliver them directly on top of the target. The Titan-equipped Corvus Assault Pod is another good, but situational alternative. IIRC, the Marine Captain in Space Hulk had a spiffy Grenade Launcher attached to his Power Fist that made Genestealers go boom. Did that ever make its way to the tabletop? The Crux Terminatus was supposed to be a Conversion Field Generator, like the Rosarius; that damn "sliver of Emperor's Armour" crap was passed on to the Praesidium Protectiva. I blame bad writing for that. I submit that the reason models like the Stormraven look like a flying brick is because GW wanted to squeeze Super-Heavy vehicles into a tabletop game. Compare the Baneblade from the original Epic and that for the Tabletop.

_Terminator Armor_ isn't the same as a _Dreadnought_ - the former is essencially _Astartes Armor_ on roids and derived from dark age safety equipment for construction work under harshest conditions. The latter _Dreadnought_ on the other hand is an often times ancient fusion of a mech and an iron lung so to say, with a stump of an _Astartes_ who actually should have been dead but refused to die so they could put what little is left of him, oftentimes quite literally nothing but a brain and half a chest plucked into the most advanced life support systems the Imperium _can still somehow maintain_ as well as the machine as such so the lumb of flesh could move the mech as if it was their long gone body and perceive the environment via the mechs inbuild sensory system's input fed into his brain - otherwise his existence is limited to a coffin, floating in organic fluid and total darkness unless called into battle sometimes for centuries at a time while essencially incapable of dying, unable to end it yourself unless slain in battle and almost inevitably devolving into madness at some point - for this reason inactive Dreadnoughts are usually kept sedated/asleep when not deployed although there appearently are Chaos Dreadnoughts lacking access to certain compounds and therefore forced to consciouly experience the whole everlasting ordeal.

Arch, you mentioned 40mm bolt rounds. Well, that's the calliber I would expect for stadard space marine bolters based on the models and artwork. I am just curious as to why GW hasn't retconed the whole .75 calliber for standard bolters and 1.00 calliber for heavy bolters. It is simply obvious that these numbers are false (at least for space marine weapons). Would it be too hard for them to release a comparison between imperial bolt weapons? I mean like, "The space marines use these bolters.., the SoB..., the Comissars... other imperial officials... the Inquisition...".

Dawn of war 2 styled the way Terminator armour works really good. Slowly smashing through wall barriers, just walking like a living tank especially if you put a hero in it. I don't blame Arch getting pissy at the Dawn of War 3's moba styled jump, it's quite frankly ridiculous.

where do the space marine store all their ammo. it seems hard to stack that many clips anywhere
@Luiacy7 жыл бұрын
They're regular power armor has magnetic capabilities allowing magazines and weapons to be stored there. Alternatively they also sometimes have either inbuilt belts, that can dispense grenades at the touch of a button, or combat webbing and belts for weapons and ammo. Terminator armor/power armor with a heavy weapon marine usually have ammo stored in the armor itself.
@SparkingPony7 жыл бұрын
alternatively: adding ammo pouches and belts on Termies doesn't look cool so GW never thought to include them on the models and drawings.

according to Fiaura there are Ork crafts with negative lift that will never fly no matter how much thrust you generate
@Kareszkoma4 жыл бұрын
@@phreakazoith2237 Those are mainly imperial fighters, as some of the orc crafts are based on real world fighters. They also don't have enough flaps, and in atmosphere they wouldn't be able to turn very fast. However she based her stuff on real world. If you put a thruster on the bottom of your fighter, even if it's a ball, you will fly. Other imperial ships had the problem of mass. Huge mass, means huge trust. But at a certain point, you make so much trust that would be enough to carve the landing zone away, with the city on it. Generally, with 40k technology, anti grav, repulsors, and variable vector thrust.. well things are okay. Orcs mostly just put a giant rocket on their ship and fly till it runs out.

I think the other major drawback to Terminator armor is "nearly invulnerable" isn't the same as "invulnerable". This is pretty clear in the Novels in where they are cut down like fields of wheat far to often by Xeno weapons that flat out ignore armor. Be it the claws of Tyranids or insane tech of the Necrons far to many races deploy things that just make terminators big slow targets. In table top terms a 1 in 6 chance of failing your armor save even vs a lasgun is just embarrassing at times. That a catachan guardsmen with a bare chest that takes cover and thus gets a 3-4+ invulnerable save is better protected is some what funny at times.

@balazsvarga18233 жыл бұрын
I think the marine could run, or even jump, the strength is there. However momentum would still be trouble, since it is a multi ton suit and would not be easy to stop once it gets charging. A lot of older lore has the marines weaker, like how storm bolter was not really accurate, and the assault cannon broke down a lot. And while a lot of veterans can use it with speed, Devastators and Havocs with lascannons are a thing. Also, power weapons negate atomic bonds with a disruption field. Kind of like a necron gauss weapon or its less powerful cousin, the klingon disruptor. All types of matter disintegrate like very fine dust.

He didn't get fired. He left to work on his own projects. Despite the hate towards Ward, his later works were actually pretty solid. When he wrote the Khornate Knights and all that jazz he was a brand new fluff writer who was given basically free reign. He has even said he had no idea what he was doing. It doesn't excuse the "spiritual liege" stuff that's still canon today, but regardless. It's mostly just the community of unrepentant neckbeards sticking to an idea because it gives them something to bitch about.

One of my biggest pet peevs with 40K is stuff like this. The constant "this is really powerful but theres only a handful of them left/the technology is lost/it takes too long to build". Like I get that that's the whole part of the imperium, Technology and building things is just as much religious ritual as it is science. Theres what, over a million planets in the imperium? im sorry NOTHING is too steep in resources when you have that much material and man power to call on. You could dedicate 10,000 worlds to terminator, dreadnought, titan, whatever production and the imperium wouldn't even feel it. If shit like terminator armours so good mass produce it. If its too costly or the technology is lost (which is bullshit) make an alternative. Why is there only a million space marines?? The population of the imperium must be obscene there would be so many candidates. OR if the procedure is too expensive again and not enough subjects survive why not make another, lesser superhuman programme. A middle ground between super soldier and grunt guardsmen. like spartan IVs in halo. Something that's cheap and doesn't kill most candidates. A real human imperium would have done this by now. IN short, the imperium should have won ages ago. AND yes I get that most of 40K is deliberately laid out by GW to be a stalemate so the story can continue. AND I get that this stuff is true of the other races too I just get more annoyed with the space marine side. Just something that's always bothered me.
@toomanyaccounts8 жыл бұрын
it takes decades to make something really complex and the skills to do so are very limited. so its a lot more complex then dedicating planets.
@phinix2508 жыл бұрын
The adeptus mechanicus is very restrictive on the availability of STCs which are near on impossible to reproduce properly now (they have reproduced them but most of the time with shortcuts and resulted in machines that pale in comparison to the original design), they do not want to lose a single STC let alone put one in the hands of Chaos forces. just because there are 100 forge worlds in the imperioum does not mean they can all build Terminator amour because they simply do not have the designs required to do so, Only Mars has all the STCs currently known to man and it is busy building things from titans to land raiders to baneblades because they are more powerful than terminator amour. (they do produce terminator armor too but not in large quantities).
@pyrosauria74448 жыл бұрын
Yeah...GW isn't very good with designing there setting. I mean why is so much technology being lost?! And don't tell me it's all chaos cause there's no way they cause so much decline.
@victorcastanet69808 жыл бұрын
Another fact to note is that not only does the Mechanicum produce war-based products, but also creates all technology utilized by the Imperium of Man. An example being that forge worlds are known to create fertilizers to keep Agricultural Worlds fertile and efficient.
@1xoACEox18 жыл бұрын
Yes thank you people I am quite extensively aware of 40K lore..... I understand the lore reasons these things can or cant be made. Im just saying the "oh we`ve only got a handful of *insert completely op war winning item* to use" mechanic GW use in everything gets to me sometimes. ANd that realistically a real human race would have found a way round it and progressed, not be so rigid.
