Being cannibals is a huge plus. Then you don't need to clone separate animals as food stuffs. Eating space marines sounds like a huge plus when looking for animal cavalry. Especially since you may need to fight chaos space marines. Lol Seeing as how mega arachnids were at one point a spa e faring race they should be able to be trained and hypnoibdoctrinated similar to a space marines. Then looking at the mobility, they would have a huge bonus over horses in that too. Plus 8 legs would offer more traction. And you could put a horse head helmet on them so you could feel like Odin riding his nephew, Slepnir!

@@UGNAvalon XDD pretty much, just made me think of Queen Alfsigr from Skyrim, anytime there was an enemy and I wasn't riding her, be it a mudcrab, ice troll, Daedra or Dragon, she'd attack it and kick its ass XDD I'd usually end up chasing after her, using any spell I could to heal her XD I mean, if the Mechanicus made the Krieger war horse, it'd make sense that it'd be an aggressive, nearly psychotic animal. I don't remember if the Kriegers or 40K in general used tech to mindlink with their horses, but if I was a Krieger's roided up mutant war steed and some jumped up Xeno or Heretic shot him from off my back, I'd stomp anything not of Krieg present on the planet into paste for so long as I was able XD

Check out my idea. Mega Arachnid mounts. Cannibals so you only need one species for both mounts and mount food. Can also eat a space marines. Great for fighting chaos space marines.

Cavalry makes sense for the same reason lasguns do. That being it gives your force the ability to say "Logistics? What's that?" and given the general difficulty in establishing interstellar supply lines in the 41st millenium, it makes sense, especially if you need to bring a less industrialized world into compliance

Except this statement makes precisely zero sense. Any idea how much fodder horses eat? During WWI almost one third of the total volume of the ENTIRE British Logistics train was taken up by horse fodder. The stuff ain't heavy, but it IS bulky. Also, modern large breeds of horses cannot live on hay or grass alone, they quickly starve if that is all they are fed, so they need supplements to that in the form of oats, bran and other cereals. The huge volume of logistics required to feed their horses is the very reason why by 1939 the British Army as a whole, and the BEF in particular were completely Mechanised or motorised. Yes, transporting fuel has its issues, but it is actually less volume intensive than horse fodder..... ANYONE who has had any experience with modern large horse breeds would be pissing themselves with laughter whenever anyone says such horses require no logistics.... Now, granted the Death Corps mounts are not your typical horses, however, nothing removes one very important fact, the amount an organism needs to eat is directly correlated to two things, its size, and the speed of its metabolism. Death Korps mounts will need to eat, a lot, now it may well be that they could eat pretty much any vegetable matter, and I will give you that one, however they still need large quantities of it.

When Rough Riders come back there needs to be some sort of Regimental Armory so you can customize your mounted troops into any variety of Cavalry units, from Xeno Mounts, to Carapace Armor. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if a creature resembling an ancient Terran Elephant was possible.

Hello Arch! Love the video, an excellent break from the day and a great love letter to the insanity of Krieg! According to sholagladiatoria the ww1 iteration of the british cavalry "saber" was a stabbing implement, meant to be used as a short lance by the rider. Considering GW and the ww1 asthetic of krieg I think they went with that version of the "saber" for that reason.

Polish Hussars, also a shock cavalry, used similar weapons as Death Riders. Single use Lance, koncerz (cavalry piercing sword), saber and pistol. Hussars also fought similar long range equipped infantry, supported by artillery. Pistols were versatile weapons. Could be ired before charge impacted to disrupt target pikemen or musketeers. those are nice chace weapons and for close quarter needs - faster faster than saber, and sure point and click weapon.

I think a 3rd person shooter set on Krieg where you take on the life of a DC soldier, from the moment you get drafted and arive in the Corner of Hell known as "boot camp", at the end of witch you get to pick your path( in simple terms Class with diverging class quests) and then participate in some of the most well known battles of the Corp. I would love it if every class was sent to different battles, but that might be too much. The way I imagined classes to work would be, you choose the path that would lead you to become agrenadier for example, well you have to do achieve specific feats such as be really good at killing people with your shovel, get 100 headshots with it, then once you get recruted in one of those Grenadier Squads another path opens up, maybe become an officer and so forth, basically climb a ladder, but ith options for those who don't want to climb. This could make for a decent Battle Arena but with 50+ people on each side, we could get a battle between the Death Corps and the Blood Pact since they sahre the most in common in terms of discipline. And if the dev decied to ever add Saits an Demons either keep them as NPCS you summon like in the Alterak Valley BG or have them be temporary buffs you get once you a specific quest in the battle ground.

sigh, nowhere does it say they need commissars to prevent them from charging too soon. meme lore =/= actual lore. commissars are there for the officers and not to stop them charging too soon, but remind them of their flanking units (as leading and fighting from the front leads to over-concentration on the immediate enemy)

In a star wars vs 40k fan fic clone artillery hit the horsy and blew it's back half off with the rider. The horsy still running and being hit by machine gun fire threw itself into the nest killing the gunner and taking out the gun.

Cant help but wonder if some of those magos Biologists that worked on the creation of the Krieg "horse" had had any involvement with the Officio Assassinorum, specifically those of the Eversor temple. There certainly seem to be some points of similarity between a Krieg steed and an Eversor assassin!

Actually, the thrust emphasis of the saber matches with WWI equipment and thought. The last sword model issued to the cavalry in the British Army and used in WWI, was a thrust only weapon. And given the Great War theme of the Death Korp, it makes perfect sense.

Yes thats true. But those were not sabers but rapiers. Sabers are horrible fur thrusting, especially from horseback.

Actually they're probably even faster than mechanized units in 40k, most tanks (leman Russ etc.) go about 45 to 50kph top in lore and a galloping horse can go 50 without major issues best racehorses go up to 70 kph, and since this is 40k the Krieg versions can propably do 80 km an hour for half a day with no issue

Since there are examples of Russes going fast AF there is a theory that the official "maximum" speed was set in the factory because that's how you discourage running away and, what's much more important, that's how you make fuel consumption more efficient.

@@kronos661 sounds about right. Governors very much a thing in military vehicles. Mostly because troops do stupid when they have fast stuff to play with. With 40k building methods. They probably don't even know the governor's on the engine in the first place anymore.

I can only think of three vehicles in the US army with governors. A Stryker, an M1, & a HEMMT. Everything else just hits a (shitty) top speed because of a lack of power.
