@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL I'm not sure if I've just learned something valuable about saw blade coatings, or witnessed a deep joke about keeping ones saw teeth hard and free of cavities. I also don't believe I want to know. Because I've decided on the latter, and I started my Saturday with a good laugh. Thanks!
@clutteredchicagogarage27206 күн бұрын
@@sigi9669 I love Makita blades, but I hate the fact that they coat them in teal paint, which inevitably rubs off on the wood that you're cutting. The best finish for a saw blade would be some sort of clear rust inhibitor coat. Otherwise, I love Makita's thin-kerf blades as well as their circular saws.

Most cordless tools have built in protection from kickbacks or will usually stall rather than kickback. This model has AFT (active feedback technology) which solves this issue.

If I worked regularly building porches with 6x6 posts (apologies for the freedom units) or in timber framing, I would love to have this saw. In North America, there's a lot of timber framing done on the west coast -- everywhere from California up through British Colombia in Canada, and this saw would be awesome for framers who regularly need to cut big posts and beams. In Chicago, where I live, many buildings have 3-story wooden porches supported by 6x6 posts. I know guys who have built dozens of those, and I'm sure they'd love to have these saws just for the cross cuts that they have to make on the posts. For anything other than cutting big posts and beams, it makes absolutely no sense to use this saw over a smaller circular saw.

Is there anything you can put on the blade to strip the paint off without damaging the blade itself? Also according to the manual the four battery LEDs mean > 75% charge, so the battery has to be at least a quarter used before it drops back to three bars, that's probably why it stayed on four bars for so long. Still pretty good it took all that to only use up a quarter of a 4Ah battery.

There's decent selection of blades that size its a common size for sliding table saws. most of those will have a thicker kerf though freud/diablo makes blades for circular saws that size. The makita blades will be the best suited for this saw because of the thin kerf wont use as much battery and should cut faster.

The previous big one kinda tried to look like a Mafell saw, fitting on tracks and retractable guard with a leaver, but this one doesn't unfortunately (except for the blade stabiliser). We mainly use the 185 mm depth of cut saw since 160mm is too little and we rip a lot so cord makes more sense for us (cus this saw and ripping sounded just sad, the mafell goes through dry 18cm thick oak without any problem). But this for a few cuts is not too bad.
