I love the Aldi Happy Farms cheese sticks. It's the only way I can afford cheese sticks and they taste just the same as the expensive ones at regular grocery stores.

Yay for Aldi....and the cookies! So good. I have been watching your videos since before your previous move (over a year ago?) and started watching your first episodes this week. The one where a woman gifted you some amazing clothes made me tear up so much! It's been such a fun debt free journey. I know that so many of us are celebrating with you as the countdown gets closer. :)

I went to Aldi for the first time today. While I didn't have a lot of time to really check prices I was impressed with the number of organic options they offered. I am trying to eat healthier and had heard that they fresh fruit and veggie were great and organic. Well, some were good and some looked bad, but I made good purchases. Also, had organic bread for much less than Publix. Greek yogurt was much less expensive, too. I had a large bag along with a half gallon of organic milk and spent $27, so I was impressed. I think I will shop Aldi's first and then go on to Publix. Publix will often have 2 for the price of one on many items I purchase, which is a good deal. Plus, since I am over 60 on Wednesdays I get 5% off my grocery total, which adds up. Thanks for your videos!

Yes, our Walmart stopped price matching many months ago. Alid is my go to place and I am always amazed how much I can get for the price.

favorite aldi items, the raw nuts of just about any kind, second the cheese sticks, love the large hams that you can stick in the crock pot with a can of pineapple, the buckets of pretzels, eggs and milk are usually good prices, sour cream, cottage cheese, and real unsalted butter dried fruits are good, basic baking stuff is great including their vanilla extract, cranberry juice and grape juice is good too.

Good job on the Aldi's haul! I love Aldi - they have a gluten-free bread that I buy to make toast with. I use them and a Tribal grocers and save lots of money on food that way.

Walmart has stopped price matching but they do have a savings catcher app. Just scan in your receipts on your smart phone and it will catch any savings that you can let grow and then get a Walmart gift card to use any way you like. My daughter works there and she told me about it. Good luck!

Gotta love Aldi, they have come into Australia and stolen customers from our large two Supermarket chains and as a result we are now seeing cheaper prices appear, so it's a consumer win win..

Maureen do you have Aldi near you not here in Tassie are they really any better?
@maureencairney95497 жыл бұрын
I would imagine you would be getting Aldi pretty soon as they are all over the mainland states ours is a two minute drive away and they are very competitive. I still use Woolies and Coles for the odd thing but Aldi is my go to Supermarket as they are definitely cheaper..

Yay, you have an Aldi now! Adli is so awesome. I love shopping there. Kroger and Aldi are my stores I shop to save money. Walmart is ok on some thing but not much IMO.

Oh - welcome to the wonderful world of Aldi Shopping!!! I have a bunch of the Aldi home products too and I love most of them, a couple were cheesy, Aldi isn't perfect but it's pretty close! Love the yogurts that are only like 30 cents!!! Did you know that Aldi is now Pesticide and harmful additive free? Google it, it's true - it happened in January, I was so relieved - yet another reason to make Aldi your favorite grocery store. They also allow their check out people to sit in chairs instead of stand up for hours in a row, how inhumane. Aldi also gives them I think health insurance, decent pay and so forth, unlike USA grocery stores. They do all this because they are a German chain,, that's why there are so many German products in Aldi. This is how all jobs are in Germany and a lot of the European countries. Favorite Aldi products: Blackberries for $1.89, Large Plain Greek Yogurt for $2, Grass Fed Beef for $5, Heavy Cream for $2, sharp cheddar cheese for $2,,,,I could go on :)

So jealous you have an Aldi now! I'm trying to convince my Mom and sister that we should take a trip across the border (just about an hour and a half away) because I found out there's an Aldi in one of the towns close to the border, hopefully the exchange rate gets better soon though! I think it's at like 70cents to the dollar right now. :( On occasion I do get american money from tips at work so I have $76 american saved up so far. :P

Shelby Chanel I live 30 min. from the U.S. border. I go over to Aldi monthly for eggs (.50/doz ) and milk (.99/gallon) . Chicken is often 1.99/lb. Canadian dollar now costs almost .40 for U.S. exchange so you really have to know your prices to make sure you are saving.
@keminva7 жыл бұрын
Shelby Chanel it's good, but it's not worth that three hour round trip. If you happen by one, it's fun to go in and look around.

so what is the diffrence in walmart price matching and the savings catcher? I use the saving catcher all the time and happy with it. They are still doing the savings catcher as far as I know. I really like aldi's. The bread is really good, the winking owl wine is really great for the price. You look so happy with your move to Texas, I hope your new position is going well.

So happy you're doing Aldi hauls, that's where I shop but in Ireland. I'm not as in as much debt as you were, I've built up some credit card debt but have savings that exceed. However, those savings are towards a mortgage so afraid to move such a sum over as it could affect my credit rating if the bank see such a transfer (my credit card is seperate to my bank). I'm loving these vlogs and have done up a budget but curious to know the percentages of salary you allocate to each area. This is where I struggle. I have high rent living alone in Dublin but I try to put aside one third my monthly salary to savings. I put myself through college the past 5 years part time at 3k per year and this is where the credit card got out of hand a little. I owe 4k now on credit card and can't afford not to continue my one third salary payment into savings to eventually get accepted for a mortgage. The good news is I finished my Degree last week but now considering an MSc (ouch, I know.. and I'm a bit older than you, well.. a lot!). Sorry for long comment. Greetings from Dublin, Ireland!
@MeganBecnel7 жыл бұрын
Tikkii T I had the pleasure of visiting Ireland april 2016. beginning in Dublin we moved clockwise accross the country for a fabulous week, but day one and a half was so tough because of crazy jet lag. as we exited Dublin exhausted we stopped at an Aldi to nap, familiar with the chain from America. We then stopped at another Aldi later in the trip nearish Benbulben to grab a lovely picnic. It was such a delight.
@MeganBecnel7 жыл бұрын
Tikkii T good luck with your debt repayment and mortgage saving!
@tikkii9997 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, I love stories like this! Your Irish tour of Aldis! Hope you got over the jet lag and ended up having a wonderful time. Dublin isn't my home county, I originally come from the very south of Ireland.
@MeganBecnel7 жыл бұрын
Tikkii T we did recover immediately after that and had the best time! we want to go back badly. Dublin was honestly our least favorite part. we left there and when down to waterford then immediately over to Cork then wound a bit up an west as we went to tipperary (my husband's great grandfather was born there) then Limerick, Doolin, Galway, Sligo and back. Kissed the Blarney, wished we could stay all day at the cliffs of Moher. We didn't make it to the ring of Kerry. Our driving plate was full for the 9 days, but at the same time being from America and use to longer drives, it's still shocking to us how much of Ireland is reachable in relatively short times. Of course even still there are lifetimes of history in such a small geopgraphic space. We stayed in a different b&b each night until our last two nights which were at Kilronan amd Cabra. It was a fabulous self guided vacation package at steep discount. We desperately wish we could go back, but is no where near the current budget.
