Sharing another great dessert! Don't count this one out...it is unique, moist, delicious! The fig preserves make it so moist, without adding a heavy taste and the glaze is heavenly!

Wow, I made this today and all I can say is WOW!!! It is definitely going in my collection of family favorites. I baked mine in a tube pan and while it was still hot and still in the pan, I poked holes all over the top and slowly poured the glaze over and let it seep in. Absolutely delicious warm with a glass of cold milk. Thank you.

Oh my gracious, you are so right about this cake and the glaze!!! I don’t usually care for fig things, so I mostly made this last night for my daughter and grandson, who do like them, and it is incredibly delicious! I cultivate kefir, so I used that in place of the buttermilk, and it worked great! The glaze is so delectable, it would be glorious on ANY cake! Thank you so much…😊🙏❤️

You are so welcome!! I usually have kefir going.....But by myself it is hard to use it. My grains are in the fridge right now. lol Yes!!!!! The cake is awesome! I am so glad you liked it! My aunt Audrey was such a wonderful inspiration and cook! The BEST christian lady, she loved God!!! And, the best cook around! Everyone wanted to eat at her table! Nothing fancy about her, just real......down to earth, country lady. Oh, I loved her!!!

@@ApronstringsGayJordan - I know what you mean about the kefir… even with five of us, I have a hard time using all I make. My daughter, grandson and I do love our kefir smoothies though, I just freeze the kefir in ice cube trays that have lids, then add some of those, with some frozen fruit, and almond milk into a blender, and they are amazing!😊🙏❤️

You had some very talented cooks in your family, it is how we learn, watching them. I cook a lot like they did and I know you do, trying to write it all down so my kids can make it, is no easy task, I hate to measure, then I cook it with the measurements to make sure it is going to come out right.

I have made this cake it is so delicious 😋 I made it with fig preserves from my fig tree in the backyard. Then I decided I would make one for Thanksgiving so I went and looked the video up again. This time I wrote down the recipe. When I made it my husband said buttermilk glaze doesn’t sound that good.😂 but when he was eating the cake he said this buttermilk glaze is delicious it makes the cake. He said it was one of the best cakes he has ever had.

Fig Preserve Cake with a rich buttermilk glaze Gay Jordan - Apron strings Ingredients for Gay's "Aunt Audrey's" Fig Preserve Cake Cake: 1 c. oil 1 & 1/2 c. granulated sugar 3 large eggs 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 T. vanilla 2 c. flour 1 c. of fig preserves 1 c. of buttermilk 1 c. chopped pecans Directions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix the oil and sugar until blended. Mix in the eggs. Add and mix in the salt, baking soda and vanilla. Mix in the flour well, then add the figs and mix again. Slowly add and mix in the buttermilk. Stir in the pecans. Pour the batter into a prepared bundt cake pan. Drop the bundt pan twice lightly on the counter to get any air bubbles out. Bake for about 45 minutes. Buttermilk Glaze: 1 c. sugar 1 T. white corn syrup 1/2 c. melted butter 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. baking soda Directions: Put all ingredients in a pan. Stirring frequently, bring up to a boil - Boil for 3 minutes. Slowly drizzle the glaze over the cake while it is still hot from the oven. You can poke holes in the cake so the glaze can soak into the cake as well. Some of the glaze will pool into the center and around the outside of the cake. Note: You may need to keep spooning the glaze over the cake until it begins to cool and thicken, better coating the cake. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmK9cpuvjJplj80

Happy anniversary! This cake looks delicious! I bet the figs do make it moist! I use to make a date and carrot bread that I never told anyone what was in it until they ate it because I knew they wouldn’t try it. But everyone loved it! I lost the cookbook in a move somehow so I no longer have the recipe and haven’t found one like it again. I sure do miss it though.

Hello! I have been a subscriber for just a few months and I am wondering if you could please print the instructions for your recipes at the bottom of the videos like others do? I see that there are sometimes recipe cards at the end but no instructions. Even though I enjoy watching and listening to you, I don't like having to keep trying to replay the video. You have many good recipes and I would like to make them. I copied the Pound Cake one and now can't find it. 😠 I think I dropped it at the store. Darn it. Thank you.
@ApronstringsGayJordan

I don't know about typing the whole thing with ingredients....I always put a card with the amouts at the end. The idea is.....youtube channels need views to grow and make money....Mine isnt large enough yet to post the recipe and instructions...so folks can just copy it and not watch. I hope this makes sense to you. I am sorry. I will always put a card at or near the end I do thank you for watching!!!!
