Making this for sure today. Isn’t it fun to reminisce about our moms. All us girls (3) remember how she always used certain dishes for several things she made. Like the same bowl when she made hash or a particular plate she liked for her coconut pound cake. Always make us smile.🥰

This cake is beautiful. The kitchen was my Mother's favorite room. She loved to cook and you could tell by the wonderful meals that she prepared for us. My favorite desert was her homemade chocolate cake with that chocolate icing that would harden when you put it on the cake. May God continue to richly bless you.

Thanks for this! I can’t eat prepared mixes so everything has to be from scratch. I’m trying this Monday! All this reminiscing has me tearing up. My mom died in 1991. Been a long time. We girls (3) had coffee with her every morning and then she called us if we couldn’t make it. She has such a hard life but she never complained. She never lost her faith in God. Precious memories. Blessings! ❤️

@@ApronstringsGayJordan I had a grandma like that. She helped raise me because my mother was sick a lot until she was about 45 and the doctors found out she had some female issues. In those days, they didn’t know much. My grandmother was a very Godly woman and we went to church every time the doors opened. She was United Brethren with Mennonite roots. I’m so glad for her impact on my life. She lived into her 80’s and my mother lived to be 94, 10 years longer than my father. David and I were blessed to have her live with us the last 10 years of her life.

You seemed a little quiet today Gay and I do know what it is like to miss your mama. Mum has been gone since Dec 2012 and there is not a day that I don't think about her, miss her and wish I could speak to her one more time. I still have her mobile phone number in my phone, silly I know but still. I know I went into a deep dark depression for over three years after she passed whereby I didn't leave the house only to the drs and just sat and read and stared out the window or slept. It was a hard struggle for me. Watching you today, I felt your pain sista and I acknowledge it. Huge hugs today for you. Michelle
