Killer job! I have 2 TrioVings that I have not converted for practice locks mainly since I didnt have a key for them. Tried shimming open. For some reason they resist that. I was able to pick one open. Loaded with some original TrioVing spools (looks like #4 is a modified TrioVing spool), new ASSA's, a couple of barrel spools (like #2 in yours), Ruko spool, a graduated spool. NO threading. Took me over 30 minutes. Of course, my skill level is not even close to yours. I have a second one that I have worked on for over a week to open. I havent tried the Deforest yet. I need to. I may be oversetting something. As for the ball, my guess is that if was under the wafer at position #8. Might make the "conehead" T-pin wobble more. Just a thought. As always... a great job!!!

Thanks. I was wondering what this looked like from the factory. The core threading looks a lot like the threading in the Ruko you sent me, which really gave me some trouble paired with the ASSA spools. I found the deforest perfect for this lock. Unless the bitting is really easy, you need a deep hook like that because of how long the lock is.

The one that I have picked open has plain pin chambers. Those look like actually helical threads. ASSA and Ruko have countermilling which is not helical. This one must be modified. I have 2 TrioVings I have modified for practice. I'll check the core in those. I cant remember what they look like.

Thanks. With such heavily modified locks, it's hard to tell what's stock and what's not. Thanks for letting me know.

some seriously picking! outstanding work on a horrifyingly tricky lock, super impressive, thanks ;)
@lockpickinglawyer9 жыл бұрын
+crispey bear Thanks -- that was a seriously hard lock. Thus far, it's a toss up between that lock and a 7 pin Schlage from Papa Gleb for the hardest challenge lock I've ever received.

+LockPickingLawyer haha, what about the unpickable Abus? currently watching it now ;)

+crispey bear I didn't think about that one... yeah, that was a beast as well.

Amazing work! Did we find out where the ball bearing was from?
@MultiVde9 жыл бұрын
Nasty looking bunch of pins! And you beat them! :D 2 is a barrel pin, 6 is a T pin like and it looks nasty :) 3 and 5 are my favorite nasty assa pins :D @TexasJim you outdid yourself :_)

+vde Thanks... Yes, Texas Jim did a great job with this.

Great Picking. The ball bearing goes under one of the key pins.

+Texas Jim Thanks, and thanks for the lock. Do you have any objection to me passing your locks along to other hobby pickers? There's too much work in these locks for them to sit in a box!
@TexasJim9 жыл бұрын
You can pass them on. No problem. When I trade locks then they become yours and you can do anything with them that you want to unless we make a different agreement. The same goes for any locks I receive from someone. Thanks

Fabulous pins, some real effort went into those but still no match for the Padlockian.😋😊👍

I like the design of driver #2; appears similar to those new ASSA spools. Very nice challenge lock. Kudos to Texas Jim. Thanks for sharing LPL. (:

Thanks. I haven't seen the ASSA spools you're talking about. I'll have to look it up.

+LockPickingLawyer Oh, I meant that the homebrew driver #2 looks similar to the factory spools in #3 and #5. (:

Would a spool with flat inner spool work? So it's kind of like an I in center??

Once again, very well put together lock by TJ, credit to you for that. LPL, you certainly have got some skills for picking and good narrative throughout. I wonder how long it would take you to crack a Union Dtec euro cylinder, I've not seen one picked. I have a couple spare (without keys unfortunately) and would be happy to send one across the pond, should you fancy a go?!!!
@lockpickinglawyer9 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'd love to try a union dtec. I don't think they make it over here. That's the one with the sliders, right? I'll pm you when I get to a computer tomorrow (I'm on the road now, and can't pm from the YT app).
@robrisla39 жыл бұрын
LockPickingLawyer Haha, yes it is the one with the sliders, the one I destroyed trying to gut on video! Union are an ASSA company but they're made in Willenhall in the Midlands of England. I'll keep an eye out for your message.

I just started lockpicking, but I am unable to put the right tension( I think). Every pin is springy, and I just don't know what I am doing wrong...

Thanks. I dabbled with picking a few times when I was a kid, but was pretty bad and stopped after being discouraged with my progress. Back then, there were no YT instructional videos. I discovered the wealth of YT picking videos back in January of this year and they inspired me to give it another go. So I ordered some picks, trolled eBay for used locks, and really started picking in earnest in February... I discovered that I have a knack for it this time around.

+LockPickingLawyer I've just over a year, so yep I'd say your doing OK so far!!!! I work nights, so get plenty of time to practice.

Great job picking. Not quite a BosnianBill style gutting disaster but ‘I have no clue where that came from’ is why I don’t gut locks. I’m pretty sure that’s all I’d say!
