A false sense of security that will just slow you down in a home defence situation if not probably malfunction or not open if something intrudes with its electrical functions. Call me old school, a mechanical safe does the job perfectly. At least I know where the key is. And that the key will turn and open the lock if I need it to. No compromises. My comment highlights the device's absurdity to it's most basic form and reliance of power, to express how stupid it is. I understand it's application. I think this might have a use as a "locked firearm" (technically) in areas where you need to have a concealed handgun permit to not have it locked or "unavailable" in your car. Though I wouldn't bet on it in court since many states say that it shouldn't be "readily available" and demonstrating how it works in court would probably show it to be readily available.
@VitalArms11 ай бұрын
CA for example requires a “locked container” and then gives a definition of what they mean by locked container. I believe it goes something like a durable container that has a pad, combination or key lock, also included is a vehicle trunk and does not include the glove or center console. So I do believe the stop box would be a good option for Californians as it technically has a combination lock and would satisfy that requirement.

That is an interesting idea. Though you'd have to train yourself to build up muscle memory to wipe your finger. Otherwise, in a high-stress situation such as a home invasion, you could completely forget the felt pad is there. A person can also lose all of his or her fine motor skills when the adrenaline dumps. That is a realy good question. My first picked """lock""" was a shitty chinese one that was on my sisters candy box at around 8 y.o., it had either 1 or 2 pins and a few seconds of pushing around in it got it open. I believe this would be impossible for even 14 y.o.'s to pick without any prior knowledge but the real problem is youtube, the kid can just look it up and open it in 10 minutes

@@danpowell806 I've seen plenty of three-pin cabinet locks, and four pin cabinet locks where three of the pins are the same height. I suppose they make 'em that way so that the keys go in nice and easy, but I'd rather have some more security.

The Swedish homeguard made an interresting lock for us when we used to have our service weapons stored at home. It was placed inside the chamber of the G3 and only accessible with a 90degree key from the magasine steering. It was designed to get stuck and destroy the weapon if brute force was used from the pipe or from the back. As far as I know no one managed to pick it.... I would have loved to see you give that a try!
@johanjohnson91695 жыл бұрын
@Marcelo Manteuffel I wish I still had it but I had to return it when they changed the rules about our service weapons. These days they are securely locked in at a very secure location in a very heavy safe. Like ridiculessly heavy, and with a key about 40 cm long and also very har d to pick because of that...
@Vaslaganum5 жыл бұрын
Seems pretty useless having your gun in a safe somewhere far off. Always loved the Nordic trend of servicemen keeping their rifles off duty. Do you guys have designated rendezvous locations to retrieve firepower in the event of a foreign invasion? Also how long of an estimate would you say on re-arming a sizable defense force? Asking for a friend no I won't blow up your munitions stores
@johanjohnson91695 жыл бұрын
@@Vaslaganum we could mobilize pretty fast, And if shit starts to get hot the rifles will be kept at home again to speed up our reaction time. I don't think I should be more specific just in case a dangerous spy reads this :)

It wasn't a feature of the lock that it would get stuck and break the weapon. It was just so poorly designed that if you didn't treat it like a virgin girl, it would jam and you wouldn't be able to use the key to open it. You would have to either pick it or drill it out. That is, even with the key and being casually careful, you could actually jam it.

Wouldn't get why someone would keep a lock on their main defensive handgun to begin with. Worried about kids keep it on your person or with in sight of you where they can't get it.

@@Chizzoide for me it's because I came from a shitty place where people got murdered and mofos would rob you like it's nothing. As the old adage goes, better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. As one that has seen how quick shit can go down, locks and safeties will get you killed. For most it's almost statistically impossible you'd need to use one to for defense. But when it does happen can make a big difference.

Aka.. a holster😂😂😂 they aren't just for carrying the sidearm so that you don't have to shove it in your waist band. They protect and cover the trigger so that it's impossible to accidentally pull the trigger. Important when carrying with 1 in the chamber and no safety like alot of popular sidearms are configured
