This was my first Mora so it didn't seem expensive. The new Ash wood series, now that's expensive, too expensive. I got the Eldris and the small wood carver and stopped. Those 3 give me a decent combination. Canada.

Another great review mate. While I was hiking, I was attacked by a hawk. I had my aluminium walking stick on me, an old mop handle with a rubber foot and bicycle handle. The first time it swooped me from the front and I didn’t really notice. Second swoop was from the back, it nipped me under my arm then landed about 10 meters in a tree off to my right. I faced it, raised my stick and it took off. It came in really low so I had to duck low, my walking stick was preventing me from getting low so I flipped it under my arm, up behind me. The hawk swooped right over my back and I caught it in the head and wing with my stick. It dropped a meter behind me. I swung my stick back to finish it but decided to leave it. What an asshole bird. Dented my stick it hit that hard.
@411Outdoors11 ай бұрын
Wow! I have Ben swooped before and it’s scary. Glad you caught that mofo 😂
@adammcguinness995011 ай бұрын
I can handle being swooped by magpies but this bird was huge & angry. I was lucky to come out best off.

Only bad thing i heard about the mora Garberg is the handle not having a finger protector...but thats about it, just be careful using it and i think a lanyard would help allot to not make you slide to the cutting edge with your hand
@Darrenski5 ай бұрын
I guess as long as you're not using it for self defence it won't be an issue. And if I had to id put my thumb over the back of the pommel and use it in a kind of reverse hammer grip if it was all i had at hand in that scenario. But if you're only using it for bushcraft and have other means of dealing with bears or dangerous animals then its a great knife and in over 2 years hard use I've never slipped down it and done myself a nasty.

I picked mine up recently for 60 bucks and is about as perfect a heavy duty hunting knife I have ever had. For most camping needs that don’t require beating the knife through a log or prying it open, I still prefer the Kansbol.
@cjmcdonald875511 ай бұрын
In my opinion they need to do something different with the handle like the companion with that rubberized feel although it's a lot better if you wrap it a little bit and some griptape like some hockey tape. As far as a better leather sheath BPS Savage makes a real nice one that fits tight. But I do agree the blade is sharp and feels balanced
@411Outdoors11 ай бұрын
Most definitely. That dangling sheath is hard for me
@tme93694 ай бұрын
Is it a good combat knife
@411Outdoors4 ай бұрын
If you’re holding it in traditional grip, it lacks hand protection in my opinion, but it is most definitely solid if you flip it over and do a reverse/ ice pick grip

Can it be used for knife fight in combat?
@411Outdoors5 күн бұрын
Absolutely👍 that being said, I would use the ice pit grip because it doesn’t have much of a hand guard

@411Outdoors thanks for answering brother love and respect from Pakistan.. Unfortunately we cannot buy things from amazon or Ebay or any reputable international website so we have to pay double the coat of e every knife we get imported. So I really have to do my homework before choosing the right product.

Do you like the rubberized handles on MoraKinves? I think they make a quality knife well worthy of micarta scales. And I'd be happy to pay extra for them to reflect that.

Micarta would be great! I agree

I own the stainless version and I don't rate it. I prefer both the Bushcraft Black and the 2000 over the Garberg. There is also the cost factor; it is ridiculously expensive here in Australia and there a far better knives to buy for around the same cost. Thanks for posting your thoughts and it was cool to watch your spear making process.

Buy a cheap mora companion and practice sharpening, wet and dry paper taped onto a board works great, 400 grit up to about 3000 grit . Then strop on a leather strop paddle.
