Hmm... well, I suppose if you got/made a tool-post grinder for your lathe, you _could_ make one of those from scratch (using the grinder with a diamond wheel to size a carbide blank to the correct dimensions for the flash hole). For that matter, I suppose you could make entire cartridges (less powder, of course) on the lathe... not that I'm recommending it. 😉
