Figures you would make some kind of jab at "Godzilla 1998" in the beginning. 😠😡 Look, I truly, honestly understand why you feel the way you do about that film. I'm serious, I do. But I on the other hand am one of the people who honestly LOVES "Godzilla 1998 (and its respective Kaiju, Zilla)" for serious, legitimate reasons, OK? Could you at least respect the fact that there's a legit group of people out there who have the opposite, positive opinion on something that you hate, and that it's seriously mature and adult to respectfully disagree with other people's opinions? I understand I didn't give a lot of explanation as to why I personally love "Godzilla 1998" and Zilla, and the reason why is because I don't feel like taking up a whole comment thread explaining my thoughts. If you're interested, Jack, I highly recommend you give the following videos (listed below) at least one viewing each. 1. 'Misunderstood Movies. Episode 1: "GODZILLA 1998 (on my channel)."' 2. "Godzilla 1998: A Fair Debate and Retrospective (on the channel of a KZbinr called 'TheUnknown837')." All I ask is that you please watch both so you can at least understand my personal thoughts on the film and its Kaiju. You don't have to agree with me 100%. All I ask is that you please RESPECT my personal opinion EVEN THOUGH you disagree with it.

OK, now that I got that out of the way, you put out another impressive review here. 😊Most of your thoughts on "Kong: Skull Island" are in step with mine; it IS a darn good movie to me. There were just a few minor issues that could have been resolved here and there.

You're probably right, I just thought I'd try to find out for sure coming from him, you know? Now I personally wouldn't say "Kong: Skull Island" was "inferior" to "Godzilla 2014." Now that I've seen his review of it here in full, I can understand what Jordan Vogt Roberts was going for with Sam Jackson, John C. Reily, and John Goodman's characters more. John Goodman's character of Bill Randa I can see now was supposed to be evocative of Carl Denham, but I just wish they didn't kill him off so early. He definitely had more potential.

Hank Marlow. That was the name of Joh C. Reily's character. Sam Jackson's Col. Packard did descend into a Captain Ahab-style madness towards the end, yeah. But I see where you're coming from; the "Godzilla 2014" characters were more memorable to you than the ones in "Skull Island." I would have to agree with you a little bit on that. And BTW, it's Skull CRAWLER. Where did you get "raper" from?

The reason they couldn't use dinosaurs is because they wanted to try something different with this take on King Kong as well as differentiate it from Jurassic World which came out two years prior. Though, I wouldn't have minded Gorosaurus or Gaw showing up.

When you think about it, the Skullcrawlers are kind of a fusion between Kong's big enemies in the 1933/2005 and 1976 film respectively. They're basically when happens when you take a giant python (1976) and give it dinosaur legs/arms and jaws (1933/2005). Well played Legendary.

Well, this “Kong: Skull Island” movie wasn’t the original idea: In 2014, Legendary Pictures announced that they were working with Universal Pictures to make a King Kong (presumably 2005) prequel, simply titled Skull Island, that would go beyond the original story and dig deeper into the mythology of Kong's home. However, following the success of the American 2014 Godzilla film, the two studios made a deal with Warner Brothers, and the script was rewritten to explicitly connect the two films into a bigger cinematic universe, and to set up another potential meeting between Godzilla and Kong in the future (aka, Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)). To direct the film, the studio hired young American filmmaker Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who had made a splash with his independent coming-of-age film, The Kings of Summer, and so, sporting an all-star cast of Loki, Nick Fury, and Captain Marvel (yes, I’m doing your description joke, too), Kong: Skull Island was released in early (March 10) 2017, becoming the first film to finally step out of the shadow of the original and add new dimensions to cinema's oldest giant monster.

Adam New No JK Simmons originally was cast in the role of Randa and Keaton was cast in the role that became Colonel Packard. Hiddlestons role was always for him as he was cast much earlier before preproduction began. He was announced as staring in the film as early as comic con 2014 and because it was so early Tom himself got involved in developing the story with director Vogt-Roberts.

Oh my god Jack. How many times do I have to tell you that King Kong 1976 is not one of the influences to Kong: Skull Island. Jordon Vogt. Roberts has mentioned nothing about King Kong 1976 being an inspiration to this film. Just because the movie takes place in the 70s and some scenes are similar that doesn't automatically make King Kong 1976 an inspiration to Kong: Skull Island. For people that don't know what I'm talking about go to 13:28.

To me I think Kong in this film is a combo of both the 1933 one and Togo one. Think about it. He stands upright and has brown fur, but keeps a face similar to 1933’s Kong.
@MrAwsomeness360
@MrAwsomeness360 6 жыл бұрын
First of all, it's "Toho" not "Togo", unless it's auto correct. Second, Kong's design in this movie was strictly 1933, not Toho, not '76, not anything, just straight up 1933, which was Vogt-Roberts intent. Hell, they _literally_ say it in the bonus features. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJa0app5esqfbNU Also, Kong has always been traditionally portrayed as a brown furred, bipedal gorilla since 1933. Yes, the original did had brown fur, but because the movie was in black & white, people assumed he had black fur.

Godzilla (2014) is sort of sluggish. Yeah it has moments where the good parts out weigh the bad, but it’s held down by some of the characters. Mainly Aaron Taylor Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen… who play husband and wife… then proceeded to play brother and sister… ew. Kong: Skull Island was a huge step up. The Story is simple as hell but the characters are really likeable and you feel bad when they are taken out. John C. Reilly gave one of his best performances ever and I’m not even kidding when I say that. And that Credit Scene… damn that’s fine.

I like the actors, i dont mind to see the same story over again, but the "special" effects are simply horrible. The action it too fast paced and over the top. So much that it becomes silly. And it is one hour longer than it should be. Its the worst for me. I do like the 1930s look of the movie and naomi wats is amazing.

I just get so tired of people bad mouthing the 2005 version in favor of the 1976 version saying its flawless, which I'm sorry to break everyone's heart but the 1976 version is flawed. Plus Naomi Wattes is georgous, she really is good eye candy.

Maybe you would agree of the 2017 version.....they could have created an entire new monster...and perhaps its a wasted opportunity....

I never understood the criticism for 2014. Well okay I understand the cutting away from the action argument but as for screen time, Godzilla not appearing onscreen all that much is kinda just the standard for him isn’t it?

Because that's where the war took place and the movie takes place at the end of the war and the atmosphere had to be recreated considering the real life event that took place.

Sorry, but I liked the 1997 Godzilla . It actually had GODZILLA. Like withing the first ten minutes of the movie. It was, as the movie makers called it, 'a popcorn' movie. Movies about giant lizards aren't on a par with Gone with the Wind or Saving Private Ryan and they aren't supposed to be. It's just a weird, fun movie that I took for what it was worth. I don't get the hate for that flick.

I dont like how you make fun of gareth edwards. He is a much better director than the Godzilla 2 director. Godzilla 2014 is just so epic, unlike the 2019 movie

This guy needs to take his voice down like 5 octaves. I like the videos, but I can’t understand why he chooses to squeal his voice like this. This is a conscious decision. He doesn’t always speak this way.
