My uncle used to drive logging trucks into that area from the Owhango end. He said the first truck in in the morning always took a rifle on board to shoot Deer that were on the road. This was about 80 years ago.

Yea would’ve been full of deer back then! Still the odd one running across the track. Cheers for watching 👍🏻

That gq made the rock climb look much easier than it is, unless it has smoothened off since last year...

Thanks mate. It was pretty steep for sure. In the past I had driven around it so not sure if it has been smoothed off or not. Cheers for watching 👍🏻

Hey mate! If you don’t mind me asking, what side did you guys enter on? Seems like a fairly large slip!
@karlmartinovich

We came in from the National Park side. The slip would be closer to the Owhango end. Yea mate it’s massive

Thanks mate. Not sure of the exact distance but the slip is closer to the owhango end. We went in from the Kapoors Rd end

Awesome video mate. Thoughts on traversing the slip by foot with a mountain bike?

Fantastic video. Nice driving, great footage, awesome drone footage. Thanks for posting. I do it somewhat regularly on my Africa Twin. I'm considering doing a video trying to get my bike from one side to the other. I will need to buy a chainsaw and take a trenching tool with me and spend a few days there I'd say :)

Yep should be easy enough to get a bike across it. It did feel quite soft when we were walking on it though. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

@@karlmartinovich Yeah it was dry when I was there last, so very firm. I think due to the high levels of pumice in the ground there, it seems to go from mushy to firm very quickly. The ground does seem to dry and shed excess water quite quickly :)

@@actstuntcam nah I mean the slip itself is soft. The actual track is hard as a rock and easy to travel on 👍🏻

@@karlmartinovich Yep, I meant the slip too. It was very hard-packed and dry when I went there. Totally agree with you on the rest of the track.

Yup...It sure is a doozy!.. I have been told by one DOC staff member that they are not going to clear it as there are some car size boulders in there that would take to much time and money to shift. Not worth the effort or cost in their opinion.

@@SouthlandFlyer Id be very surprised if doc put money into clearing it for 4wds. You can still access the track from either end and then just turn back once you get to the slip 👍🏻
