Summary: It's the day of the funeral and Adam fights back the tears as he looks out over the fields. Holly is grateful for Roz's support when she turns up, but it's a heartbreaking day for the village.

Interesting role reversal; Adam's the mess and Aaron is keeping it together. There was something chilling about Aaron's choice of words when Adam wanted him to hit him. I expected "No, let's get you home" or "Adam, you're drunk, you don't know what you're saying" NOT 'No, because you want me too". Thanks for the uploads Kimba, this is the only Emmerdale left for us in the U.S, and we won't mind if you keep us up to date on Adam too ;-)

Aaron sexy as hell in the suit. The silence is so powerful. The procession from the farm to the church very solemn and moving. Hannah's tribute "DAD" very emotional that brought tears and as I closed my eyes, I could see images of what each one read. Lowering the casket and closing the drapes made it to final. Scared of why they did that. Declan should never been at the funeral nor at the pub. He deserved what came his way, even the truth from Adam. Adam, my heart breaks for you as you go through this rough time. Going after Chas was wrong even in grief. Adam asking Aaron to hit him. "Why not", "Cause you asked me to".

@jwsm2 Agreed. Aaron and Chas have both matured so much in the last few years. It's great to see how they now interact not only with each other, but with other people as well. It's very refreshing and endearing. Not to mention what amazing actors Danny and Lucy are.

@estibin I don't think Adam ever said anything about Declan supposedly neglecting his wife in this scene. However, if Adam's going to play the blame game for John's death, then he should blame himself as well. You can't sleep with your father's boss's wife and daughter without putting the entire family's well-being in jeopardy. I know he's hurting, but I'm sick if him constantly blaming others for the misery him and his family helped create. I'll be glad when Aaron finally gets away from it all.

@doojahdoojah Declan started to punish the whole Barton family, not just him (the rest weren´t reponsible for his actions, were they?) and that was when all the problems started, not with Moira cheating. Adam´s dad was so obsessed with his macho pride that she treated his family... wrong, and then Moira cheated and then the rest...

I hope it’s a very long time from now that it happens, for you or anyone, but I’m sure you will survive it. I thought that, but I survived it, and I know others who did despite falling apart after it. A lot of people probably say the same, but then end up surviving it anyway. I hope you find the strength to somehow, but I hope even more that it doesn’t happen for a very long time 💪🏼

Never give any bereaved relative any bottle of hard liquor before the wake. Drink and grief (and guilt) are not a good mix, it only leads to trouble. If they have to have it then best after the funeral AND the wake, less likely to be ruined then

newgeorge Adam slept with Declan's wife, Anna, and his daughter, Mia. Declan blamed him for Mia's death, so he started hounding Adam's parents, who were his tenants. According to Adam, that made his Dad, John, bitter. That put a strain of his relationship with Moira, which eventually resulted in Moira's affair with Cain. The only reason Moira and John were in that car was because they were going on a holiday to repair their relationship after her betrayal.

What exactly happened with Adam and Declan?

Adam was dating Declan’s daughter Mia, but he had an affair with Declan’s then wife Ella. Declan threatened to kill Adam if he went near her again(Mia that is). Mia eventually found out and then moved away, months later she died in a car crash(offscreen). Declan blamed Adam, so he hounded the Barton family, he was their landlord, as revenge on Adam for his daughters death. Declan demanded money off them. Which resulted in John having to work twice as hard, as a result of this John neglected Moira, which caused her affair with Cain. That’s pretty much the gist of it.
