That whole series was awesome! The damage and condition of the old Gibson was so bad I started out thinking how is Jerry going to turn this around? Fixing up the missing wood, broken parts, massive glue run offs everywhere, making the sprung back fit again, reassembling all the bits together worked out beautifully. Instead of a wreck the owner has a wonderful vintage classic Gibson to value and cherish. That is a guitar anyone would be proud to have now your magic has given new life and music to it again Jerry. Thanks for posting.

A patina is a substance that reacted to air over time. Grunge is mainly old DNA.

The good thing about Jerry's effort is the patina is still there. Edit....I was still on the wood part of the video and just got to the tailpiece. Personally, I wouldn't have polished it to that extent. Edit again.... I should watch the entire video before commenting, I suppose. Seeing the tailpiece on the guitar and the overall look, it doesn't stand out like I thought it would. :) The guitar looks great.

Jerry, I've got to tell you, this is my favourite of all your video series! I just love the respect with which you treat the older instruments that come to you for repairs. I love the way you treat the wood as an organic, living thing that, when treated properly will come to life again, to make music for generations down the road. When you have passed the torch to a new generation of luthiers, there will be thousands of instruments out there keeping your memory and skill alive. This old Gibson will be leading them all. Thanks for a wonderful series and thank you for what you do.

I really love that no behind the thumbs down icon (0). By the way, I call what's on the tail piece grunge too. The sound of the remastered instrument is just as good as the work you put into it. "WOW free from stewmac! that's something you don't see every day!" Actually, Randy, you see it quite often. Stewmac may be a little higher, initial, cost but if there is Any problem, they have, just about, the best customer service of Any industry. I ordered a, closeout, fret slot saw. They sent the wrong size. They told me to keep it, then sent another wrong size. I then had 2 wrong size saws and they said keep it and sent me a refund. Even though the saws were not what I ordered, I still had both of them And a refund. You can't beat that with a stick. If you tried, you would just break the stick.
