The Gaels came from Ireland and attacked the Picts and eventually took over. Hence Scottish Gaelic language. The Picts spoke a different Celtic language as far as we know and they lived in many parts of Scotland. Not just Shetland.

I always find it so fascinating when people know about their country’s history in such detail. I assume you start with being taught in school…for some reason we’re not told about the real history of England in school, can’t think why 😬🤢

I live in Wales and I know some of my history but not all of it. Doesn’t help that I live on the border of England so my school taught us about the Celts and how they dominated the seas but nothing about my countries history.
