Thank you Valerie. I was a little shocked re the coffee comment but everyone is entitled to an opinion I guess. We knew we hadn’t broken any rules. Dexter was sedated last week and the vet couldn’t find anything wrong and said he had seen older dogs cough like this before and wasn’t concerned. He is currently lay on my lap (Dexter, not the vet 😂). Have a good weekend. Take care and stay safe x

That's Brilliant news for you both . My dog Teddy chokes easy and does the coughing..usually if he gets too excited but mainly triggered because of pulling when on lead.He cant wear collars because of it or harnesses that are high up crossing trachea. We just live with it as hes not distressed by it afterwards.I think it's just a weakness ..we dont give him bones ( apart from Antlers)and are careful with stick throwing ..otherwise,hes fine. This may not relate to Dexter’s chocking/hacking issues, but our old cocker spaniel started doing this, often in the middle of the night. He sounded quite terrifying at times! It turned out to be related to a cardiac issue, a mitral valve prolapse. Medication kept our old guy going beautifully. Hope that Dexter is sorted out without undue stress on any of you.

Best wishes for Dexter! I can only imagine the cold, since I am in Florida and we have only gotten down to 49 F. this week. But the outside gathering of narrowboaters with hot chocolate and layers of clothing sounded really, well, cool. :) And not only can Anthony cook, but he can talk with owls (my favorite birds)! That shot of the sun through the snow and clouds was really extraordinary, too. I admire how you explain yourselves, but really people can be so tedious with their criticisms! Good update❗️Best wishes Mr Dexter in his tip to the Vet. Boy we have had a rough Arctic 🥶front come in this past week, it all but paralyzed Texas. No, Water or Electricity and so much Snow that Traffic in many areas came to a stop 🛑✋ Today will be the first time Mary Ann will be getting out for over a week, we faired the storm fairly good but have never been so cold 🥶 in my life and I am 74 year old. I hope your relatives here in Texas cam out without many problems. Well we are looking forward to our little trip out today, just a short drive to carry off our trash, back to the Grocery and Pharmacy and I just may stop by the Liquor 🥃 Store for a bottle of good Scotch🤔YES🤗‼️Maybe thing will get better soon, I sure hope so. I am glad to hear y’all are both do fine, staying healthy and best of luck 🤞 relocating to a closer place to work. Have a great week‼️✅👍

Hey Mike. You guys have really had it rough. Our relatives are in rural Devine and some have been without heating, electricity and water! They have said it is the coldest they have known for over 30 years! Make sure you drive safely to the cash and carry. Be nice to get out though. G'day Paul and Anthony. Good to hear in your Vlog that Covid infection numbers are dropping. As you know Australia is doing very well with Covid. Community infection where I live is at zero. Enjoyed, we are still running below zero for two weeks now. Hope will come soon with the sun & SPRING. Lockdown has been drop down about 75% here, most everything is open. East coast is still very bad and little opened so far. Everything of course is a mess with new government trying to fix, but so much to do. It is great that your mindful of the current rules that are in place because of C-19. It’s a bit sad that some people have to express negative comments about inconsequential things. We have done the right think and contacted CRT and they agree it is essential travel to get closer to work. Dexter is currently lay across my lap which means I can’t get up to pour my own wine 😂. Great watching you guys. I’m in the same position, I’m back to work beginning of March after being off for 5 months in hospital. Had my mitral valve replaced in my heart at Stoke. I feel great now. I honestly feel your vlogs are one of the most relaxing, I enjoy every moment. On travelling to work, I travelled 1.15 hours Monday to Friday for 12 months. Eventually, I handed in my notice and took early retirement. Moving closer to work, to me, is essential. I have my fingers and toes crossed for Dexter. Xxxx

A lovely video guys. Minus 1 - that's tropical compared to here in Poland. We've had deep snow on the ground for about the last 8 weeks. coldest temperature during this time was minus 15! At least Dexter got his sound effects in! Thinking of him whilst he's at the vets. I'm sure you'll make the right decision about his treatment and welfare. Beach or narrowboat? Thank you Michael. Hope you are well. 🥶-15! That wouldn’t do Paul’s Raynaud’s any good. Love snow, but only when I don’t have to travel in it. Dexter has had the all clear at the vets. They can’t find what is causing his cough but he said he wasn’t concerned, which is good. CRT have told us we are good to move closer to my work place, which is amazing. I think the stress and time of the journey has really taken its toll and to have a more realistic commuted 19 minutes will be amazing. Keep safe over in Poland and hugs from us all. Take care 😃

My hair really grows fast but have decided to let it grow and looking at a different style when I can get to the barbers. I think Paul will do well on the canals. Hiya, its worth keeping in mind whenever you make decisions that you both honestly believe are okay. "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you cant please all of the people all of the time". In my opinion your decisions have been based on a balanced view of your position and any current rules that may or may not effect what you do. I'm like you, quite a happy go lucky person who tries to rub along without upsetting others I may meet along lifes journey but of course things happen and are sometimes out of my control and people may have a moan or disagree with us, that's lfe i guess. On another note, I hear regularly on the news and online, people and politicians saying, "Our first priority must be to re open schools as soon as possible". Can I just say that my wifes a primary school teacher and she has been going to work full time as usual because the schools have been and still are open. There are many keyworkers children in school as normal and those at home are having Zoom lessons at home headed by their regular teachers who are in school teaching them via zoom and in the classroom. Thank you Martin. I only said to Paul the other day that as long as we can justify our decisions to us based on informed choices then that should be enough. We have spoken to CRT who have said that they agree getting closer to work is essential travel 🙏. As an NHS worker who works with a lot of parents I know that schools are still open for key worker children and vulnerable children and I agree, teachers are often overlooked so a big shout out to your wife and all the key workers out there who have been continuously working through lockdown. Hey. Always happy to answer questions. We have all been new to topics. In all honest, we never hear a thing. Paul always comments how quiet it is. We love marina life. We have fantastic neighbours and we have made some life long friends. It was never meant to be a permanent solution for us and the only downside we can see is we can’t cruise. If I was older and less inclined to do the locks, I would happily move into a marina permanently as the community is amazing. Welcome by the way. Take care and stay safe x

You might want to ask your vet about congestive heart failure. I've had many American cocker spaniels over my 73 years, and I've lost several to CHF. It's a common problem in spaniels, apparently, at least it is here in the US. That symptom of hacking or coughing as if they're choking and trying to clear their throat of an obstruction sounds all too familiar to me. I've lost two cockers to CHF since March 2018, and have another one who may not last much longer, as well. All three had heart murmurs that were noted long before the throat-clearing hacks started. I'm told that they do the hacking as a means of heart self-massage, but I don't know if that's true. Another common symptom is an enlarged heart that's quite evident on X-rays. I do hope for the best possible news for your Dexter, gentlemen. Our dogs give so much unconditional love and ask so little in return, and it's absolutely heartbreaking when we're at our wit's end and can do nothing to ease their suffering.

Dexter had his heart checked twice, back in May and again last week and the vet has said nothing to worry about. But what you are saying sounds very plausible. Thank you so much Tao. This was one of the 1st things the vets checked out and they did a chest x ray and an ultrasound of his heart and couldn’t find any sign of heart disease (which is a relief given his age). They have done bloods and checked his throat under sedation and nothing of concern has come back. Although we haven’t got to the bottom of it, the vet has said it is something he may just have to live with and isn’t overly concerned. Aww thank you Tanya. You are always really supportive and kind. The vet, fortunately, couldn’t find anything wrong with Dexter and so they said they were not overly concerned. Paul is thrilled with the shelves. The CRT have said that time getting closer to work is essential so we are really made up. Not cooked Pizza for ages but was made up with the results. 😋 A bit of sun would have been nice but spending time aboard Morning Star was also amazing and very relaxing. Will you then be continuous cruisers, or in another marina? Just think, a year ago I wouldn’t have understood that last sentence myself. I am all for people having opinions but draw the line at insults and personal attacks. Really enjoy the "fireside chat" with you two! We hope for the best outcome for Dexter. Our pet was just diagnosed with diabetes so its been a lot of visits to the vet to get ahold of the glucose and amounts of insulin. Seems like lockdown is much stricter in Britain vs the US. We picked up and headed south for the winter and will be looking forward to guests! We even got our vaccine shots while away from home. Stay safe guys!
