during school we decided that we were gonna give each other new names.. as like nicknames for our group.. my friend "Steven" became "Dave".. pretty much all of us forgot or stopped using these nicknames after a couple weeks.. but we kept calling "Steven" Dave.. it went on for months.. and months.. his mom started calling him dave.. his girlfriend called him dave.. eventually he and his girlfriend got married and had a baby.. they decided it would be confusing for the baby but rather than switch to using his real name.. he actually got his name changed officially too dave because half the people that met him didnt even know that it wasnt his real name xD

Love this! I was called market girl for a few years as we were poor and my mum bought my bag at the market. The irony was I was called out by a popular kid who only knew because he worked at the market with his dad. The irony.

I have a friend who has the minor superpower of being able to give someone a nickname that sticks. I don’t know how she does it. Guy we know was eating marshmallows out of bag: Marshmallow. Guy we know who was always really well groomed: Hairdresser. Joyball, Gladys, Halbertini, the list goes on.

My best mate of thirty years is called Stephen and his nickname is pee. Aged 12 he wet himself in class. Everyone but me calls him Pee.
@shamaamamamamaah6928 Жыл бұрын
Why would you do that to him? Call him Pee like he should be.

He hates it. I sympathise with him. It's funny how nicknames start and follow you through life. Thankful I have none. Still I hate my name. My Sikh names Davine but I've always been known as David to my none Indian friends, colleagues and people in general.

@@davidvarley1812 Nicknames haven't really stuck with me, but then I hardly know anyone now from when I was at school. Having a nickname like "Pee" stick and why, I can see why your friend might be against it lol I found that amusing though you saying about being known David as the first thing that came to mind is Trigger (a character from Only Fools and Horses who calls Rodney "Dave" for no reason). Probably the closest real life I've seen to this!!!

My dad is called "Tich" (as in little).. He's not particularly small, just happens to be smaller than his brothers. Who given him the nickname of Tich, before he even went to school. His brothers called him Tich, school friends called him Tich, his co-workers called him Tich. He worked in the same hospital (as an electrician) for his entire life. His first and only job. Some of his co-workers had known him for 40 years, and only known him as Tich. Never knew his real name. My niece, thought "granddad's" name was Tich. At the age of 23 she wondered who this "Michael" person was.. Shocked to find out it was his real name. I shouldn't laugh though, as I only known my granddad (My dad's dad) as Ginge (You get no points in guessing why).. I must have been 35 when I found out his name was Harold.. Well after he had already died.. Still refer to him as Granddad Ginge.. All his sons, Not ginger, All his Grandchildren, other than me, Ginger.. So it skipped a generation, but also, somehow skilled me.. (Though I do have it in my beard if it grows long). Had a friend called Dougal. Named him that because he did a perfect impression of Dougal from Father Ted.. Called it him so much, his own mother started calling it him.. Nick names STICK around these parts..

I worked with a guy Gary. A very angry man. Short temper. He hated the name we gave him. Burger. Why? He bought Macca's for lunch once. Someone asked what he got there? A half crashed burger in his fists. He replies loudly "BURGER!" then like on queue the entire contents drops out onto the table. And he's there with 2 halves of the bun and a steamed red face.

As a kid I always wanted a nickname as it seemed cool at the time, as an adult looking through some of these comments I'm sure fucking glad I didn't get one 😂

I met a guy 20 years ago exactly one time, and for some reason I couldn’t pronounce his name. I wasn’t even particularly difficult, everyone else could fine, but for unknown reasons my mouth wouldn’t produce the correct sounds. After many attempts I jokingly said in frustration “F*** it! I’ll just call you Bob!” 15 or so years later I ran into him again. His wife calls him Bob. Apparently even his parents call him Bob. Everyone calls him Bob.
