Yes, exactly, she really needs to be more understanding! She's biased basically, and that's why she can't be a good friend here for Ste. Somehow it hurts, because I used to LOVE Ste and Amy friendship so MUCH. They were so close and for good reasons and now it feels like Amy is sacrificing their friendship to her own prejudices. Am I the only one, that it HURTS?! I used to ship their relationship so much two years ago...

I agree with everything you say in this reply about how Doug still loves Ste and how Ste treats him. I don't entirely agree with the original post that Doug is a good friend. He wants to be, but if and when he gets over losing Ste, he'll be better at it. For now, Doug's agenda gets in the way.

I think people forget that all of these characters had the own encounters with Brendan which were usually combative and have not seen all of the sides to Brendan that Ste has, whom Brendan cared for, so their perpectives are different.

Amy was threatened by Brendan multiple times. She feared for her life and her children's lives around her. When he then gets sent down for fricking murder, do you really expect her to suddenly start singing praise about Brendan? She warned him that he was trouble from the start, then Ste got hurt and as a friend she did what she could to comfort him, but she was didn't lie in order to do so - she was honest and succinct.

So what we see in this ep, doesn't actually happen till monday. To simplify it even more: in hollyoaks world ste doesn't sleep with George the next day, he sleeps with him 2 and a half days later. Because brendan technically leaves on a friday, and this is scheduled to happens on a monday. Hope that eases the pain a lil

Did you guys hear what Steven just said to Doug? He said that Brendan is looking at a thirty year stretch, not life ! That means that Brendan could actually get out of prison in some reasonable time. Brendan didn't get life like he said. He could get out early for good behavior. Also, someone made a comment that Ste was a bit harsh to Doug. I don't think so. Doug had that coming, like always he just couldn't leave well enough alone. Ste clearly said that he didn't want to talk about it. Secondly, when Steven said that he just lost the only man he ever loved, he was not using that in anyway as an attack against Doug. It was simply a statement of fact. Doug being Doug took it personal. The problem with Doug is that he always pushes Steven into a corner.

Amy is taking her judgemental and uncompassionate advice to a whole new level and Doug is an ex husband who he didn't have anything in common with to begin with. If Hollyoaks brings someone new in they really need to give Ste a friend who can relate to him because with the exception of Brendan he never had one

all I can say is that if he starts beating on poor innocent George like Brenden used to beat him it will be one sad storyline. I hope they don't go there. I really do. George is, well, George. He is a nice pure soal. Also, it really hurt me to watch how Ste treated Doug. All Doug ever did was love Ste. Yes, he was clingy, winey and annoying at times but he loved him.

I'm so torn! This is a whole new thing Kieron gets to play with, that they haven't already done with Ste, and he's so great to watch. Though the thought of all this going on while Brendan sits in a prison cell reading his bible... It's almost too much to bear. I guess that's the bittersweet part of having not killed him off. I didn't know if I was going to be able to keep watching with my own grief for Brendan Brady, but going through it with Ste might just make it all better..

I think Ste is saying his love for Brendan is not only deeper than what he felt for Doug, but also deeper than what Doug ever felt for him. True or not, deliberately hurtful or not, the comparison is insidious. How can you reach into people's minds and hearts and make that kind of comparison? I think it's too soon to guess where the writers are headed with Ste.

Yknow if they actually do a very slow burn story, I think Ste and Jean Paul would be a good couple. The scenes where they were at each other that day at the school was promising. They've both lost the love of their lives. But both of those men were extremely damaged. It could work.

Doug and Ste were for a time in love with the idea of being in love. I went along with it and only afterwards saw it this way. The scenes I watched so many times I wouldn't want to watch anymore. At the time I hated the idea of a resumption of Stendan. Now I'm grieving vicariously for Ste's and Brendan's loss.

I do admit that I actually like George. I don't want him to be with Ste, but George is rather adorable and he makes me smile because he's so sweet. I feel so bad that Ste used him like that. I know a lot of people that fall into bed with someone else after they lose someone. Ste's gutted, alone, and has never experienced a loss like this. I feel bad that sweet George got caught in that. If anything, I wanted to see George become just a friend to Ste considering he hasn't had one for a long time.

Of course, Ste chooses George over Doug. Doug comes with a caravan of luggage! Doug comes with arguments and resentments on both sides. George comes with just being there, cute, and available. Given the state Ste is in, sloshed and grieving and feeling lost, George is perfect-for the moment. I just hope George doesn't fall too hard for Ste, although considering who they are, it seems inevitable.

You can tell from the very last scene that there would be a Steorge if Ste wanted there to be, but I think he's more likely to feel embarrassed. The similarities between this encounter and an old Stendan scene has some viewers going bananas over the prospect of Ste abusing George. That would be awful! But that's not going to happen. Not even Hollyoaks writers are that cruel or demented.

He deserves lecturing. He's in pain because Brendan went to jail, but he always knew that this would come at some point. He knew BB was a murderer and an abuser and dealt drugs - what was he expecting? Amy did what she could by bringing the kids to see him, but she was spot on when she said that Brendan was bad news and that Ste needed to learn to stand on his own 2 feet. Better that she was honest than comfort him with lies.
