I am not sure why people feel the need to comment when there’s something they don’t like about the way someone is living. If they don’t wanna watch then don’t watch but keep their opinions to themselves if they’re going to be critical. I am always amazed and fascinated at what you were able to get donewith the limited resources i.e. electricity, etc. You’re a very strong, strong, determined and capable woman, and you should be applauded for that.

Thank you :D. It's easy to have an opinion behind a keyboard and I show things warts and all, I am ok with fielding some questions and some opinions, but at the same time, sometimes its easier to address it in the video then have to wade through it in the comments hehe :D

Good morning guys. I'm born and raised in Queensland in a little town called Clermont. My parents used to set a pool up for us when we were kids and they asked the fire department to see if they can help fill the pool. They did and dad bought them a few packs of beers or donated money towards what they need. If you ask and cross fingers they can help and save you a lot of trips to collect water.

Awesome roof for the bed!! I think you could just get your hands on a couple of kitchen cupboard handles and screw them into the lid horizontally. I got a few for about $2 at the big B, and screwed them into the lids of my compost bins. The handles made it SO much easier to spin the compost.

Well, I think you're doing an amazing job! I am constantly inspired by your videos, even when you don't feel you've much to say or share. How I'd love to have even half your drive and energy these days. Chronic pain is a bugga of a thing and I have so many half-completed projects everywhere (too)! I don;pt often comment because I usually watch You Tube on my TV, but I do watch all of your videos and try to leave them run during the night to add a few more views. (but chromecast can be a bit funny about playing when the TV switches off). I love hearing the animals doing their thing in the background. Even though they can drive us bonkers sometimes, hearing they chatting or even shouting to each other can also be oddly reassuring. Your deck is coming along really well and the pool set up is terrific. I hope you can find the roofing you need without too much trouble or travelling. It's very challenging to get things completed when there are so many extraneous variables not the least of which is a chronic, painful health condition. When you need to create everything yourselves, whether it's electricity, every meal, educate your kids, build, renovate, garden, preserve food, drive miles to get the things you need, earn a living, etc it easy for other to underestimate just how much time and effort any one of those things can consume. As the kids get a bit older and develop more skills things will be a bit easier but for now, you've got six happy, healthy, adventurous kids that have an amazing life. Hats off to all of you! Regards, Simone

Oh Nysa I love your videos! You garden a whole lot like myself, I’m never looking for picture perfect I’m looking for ideas that I can work with myself! Picture perfect went out the window here a long time ago, besides I got little humans to keep alive!😁 So I grow what I can grow and live doing it! Never enough hours in the day to play in the dirt & get all the weeds! But I get enjoyment from gardening & I only have to please me at the end of the day! I don’t have bush rats to deal with but all kinds of other little critters & bugs! So we are kind of in the same boat there! Oh how I wish for chickens! But can’t at the moment! Some day! In the meantime it’s a joy to see all those you have! Love the black fuzzy chicken in the video! Can you hug a chicken, cause I would hug that chicken! 😁 It’s very cute!

Question, your blue barrel chicken feeder, have you found that the feed grows mould or anything, or it works well? QLD heat is different to our heat in Adelaide. We are going over Xmas, and I don’t want my grandparents filling the chicken feeders up every could of days. They can’t lift the bags or the buckets to take them back into the chickens from the shed. I was looking at black tubs, but if that blue one works and you find mould doesn’t grow, I’ll save money as I have one sitting out back. Thanks. ❤

So long as the kids put the lid on (rolls eyes lol) we haven’t had a problem. We do have caps we can fit on the outlets as well if we need to block it off for something, we tried blocking it each night so the mice couldn’t access it, but trying to get the kids consistently doing it was challenging. We haven’t had any issue with water or moisture so long as they are up on bricks and the lids are on. We don’t tend to fill them completely, because it’s just not necessary, but we do put a half bag or so in them with no issues
@jessann55812 күн бұрын
Thank you for replying. I appreciate that. Touch wood, we don’t have mice yet (live on the outskirts of Adelaide, still classed as rural but being built up), first year of having chickens, so any little thing I see that’s a good idea, I’m researching. Haha. I do the chickens, my kids collect the eggs, they couldn’t lift a 20kg bag. (10,8,7,1 years of ages, all boys). I really liked the chicken feeder idea. Also like your garden bed lid idea. My husband doesn’t cause he now has to build one for me. Haha. Thanks Nyssa, keep up the good work both at home and with KZbin. I’m enjoying your videos ❤

Great to see some progress, with your tomatoes may I suggest you bag each tomatoe. I just sewed small bags by hand from old sheets which worked brilliantly and got a few years out of them, i ran a running stitch around the top so I could look in from time to time. This prevented fruit fly which is the only pest you haven’t protected from.

People have nerve being so judgmental about how your garden looks… do they have to live there? Heh, it always feels like something! But I do think because you guys only see a few videos a week sometimes it seems more than it is, one of those things where the negatives get shown more than the positives because they feel ‘more’ ;). We did pick kinda the wrong place to do what we’re doing, but we also didn’t have choice at the time and were making the most of it.
