Every single scene was so well written, and the acting is so good. Emmerdale has to win best soap this year.
@sanyrub
@sanyrub 9 жыл бұрын
+mikha1280 It is always the best soap but it is not treated as the priority it should be by its own channel, so it never wins best soap or almost never. "Only" a few awards for best actor or best storyline, usually iinvolving Danny Miller and very few more.

+Martin Rey Sometimes I wonder if it's a gay thing. Ste and John Paul on Hollyoaks have been put through the wringer individually and as a couple as well. In fact I don't think I can think of a gay couple in a European soap that went through any prolonged bouts of happiness.
@sanyrub
@sanyrub 9 жыл бұрын
Donald Samuels Nah. It´s called being given the hardest stories because you are pretty much one of the very few actors who could pull all this off. They found a diamond in Danny when he was still a teen. And they have not let it go and they shouldn´t. He gives them the awards and the stories are great even though sad. Emmerdale is the only big soap of the UK who has had the gay character constantly as a leading one. If anything that makes Emmerdale less "homophobic" than the others. Really, there´s nothing about that here, in 2016. Chas hasn´t had a happy moment in ages either. Chas, Debbie and the other leading characters go from one dramatic experience to the next. In those cases those are usually not as deep and emotional, but that´s just cause they know Danny will deliver anything no matter how hard, so he´s the one they always give the hardest stuff (well, and a couple more in the show).

Unfortunately never gonna happen, the battle is always Eastenders v Coronation Street (recently it's always EE) and it doesn't matter who does the best storylines, it's all about viewership and as people are loyal to their soaps the numbers don't change much year on year. Plus as someone else said - EE is the secondary soap to ITV, Corrie is prioritised
@sanyrub
@sanyrub 9 жыл бұрын
***** Ratings wise Corrie is the number one no doubt. Always like a million ahead of EE even if it is not in good state. Thing is Emmerdale is used by ITV to dent EE many times, plus they make them cook 6 episodes per week, more than any other soap. Funny that they still manage to be the most consistent one, but still both thing damage it to some point and Corri is ITVs priority when it comes to promo and get the better time slot. I mean Emmerdale has been able to win at leats once that I remember the best soap price (Inside Soap awards probably, I don´t remember well). But it´s almost impossible to get many more.At least it is in the pack of the 3 big ones with big ratings.

This has to be one of the most well written and well acted story lines I've seen. Danny Miller is gold as an actor. You can see the real pain on his face and in his breakdowns. American television would NEVER touch such a sensitive subject like this, which is a loss for us.
@mowtow90
@mowtow90 9 жыл бұрын
+HW Wooldridge Well kind off. American crime is making a whole season on male rape. Its not as deep as this , but its a start. Plus this is a topic that has to be discussed , because it does happen. The world is full of monsters that doesn't even deserve to be called human , but a few topics are considered taboo for some reason. Add the fact that there is a common consecration that those thing doesn't happen to males (because we are the strong ones) , which is wrong.

"He was my dad, I loved him." That just broke me. It hurts so much to think about how much Aaron loved and worshipped his dad as a kid, and when he started to abuse him Aaron must have felt that the most important person in his life had died and turned into this monster. How much that boy has been through is just unbelievable. Robert really was right when he said Aaron's the strongest person he knows.

Cain may be tough but underneath it all, he has a good heart and is fiercely protective of his family. He will do whatever it takes to get justice for his nephew. The scene between Aaron and Cain was one of the standout moments of the episode - hardly any words were exchanged but the emotion portrayed in that moment was as real and powerful as if could ever be. Jeff Hordley and Danny Miller were amazing.

'You had Robert.' I love how they are both recognizing that Robert is there for Aaron. I only wish it was under better circumstances. That line coupled with Aaron allowing Robert to comfort him were the only silver lining out of this extremely dark cloud of a situation.

I just love Emmerdale and am sad to not get it in the states so thank you Aaron Fan!! Even though I miss the other story lines Aaron is essential. I grew up on US soaps and they suck the big one. I tuned into Days of Our Lives after more than 20 years and it was the same characters/story-lines (Bo & Hope, etc.) freaky. And those fake sets! Now my perspective: We're all psycho-analyzing the hell out of these character's actions and I just have to send a "well done" to the writers for a great job of keeping the back -story relevant. We can look back and attribute Aaron's previous actions to his father's abuse but I'm pretty sure that this story-line has not been in the works for the last 8 years but the writing is so great that it's seamless. Brill. And of course Danny Miller rocks.

I'm glad that Aaron told Chaz about what happened and that Cain knows as well. I always remembered Aaron as a strong level headed person, who'd fight anyone if need be but lately since his dad's been in town his just fallen apart from the inside out. Maybe as time goes on we'll see another side of Aaron who's more open and maybe see a smile here and then. I'm glad that Robert is there to comfort Aaron and that Cain takes care of his sister Chaz.

I was recently watching episodes when Aaron first came back and he almost lit the Barton's barn on fire. John Barton grabbed him and dragged him off. He ended up locking him in a part of the barn because he wouldn't calm down. But it was one of the times where Aaron went completely off the rails. He even went to the police and told them about John hitting him and locking him up. His own family were shocked that he went to the police. Now with this storyline his overreaction to what John did was completely understandable.

+Charley Jane I'm sure Cain will stand by Aaron. I really believe that the awkwardness was because Cain doesn't quite know how to deal with his range of emotions right now. Plus, in that moment as he was preparing to seek out Gordon, Cain needed to stay angry and not get weepy comforting Aaron. Aaron obviously picked up on the fact that Cain knew his secret and was feeling embarrassed and possibly some shame and insecurity.

I can't wait for Chas and Cain to take Gordon out like the trash he is. The look on Aaron's face when Cain wouldn't even look at him tho... Gosh, I hate Gordon for doing this to him. To ALL of them. I don't know if I could handle a storyline such as this if I were an actor so I have the utmost respect for everyone involved, especially Danny and Lucy. They've brilliantly portrayed the inner torment of the victims and their loved ones and it's a struggle that may never truly ends but will get better now that it's out and they're leaning on each other. And kudos once again to Emmerdale's wonderful writing staff. To think I only started watching Robron scenes because of Danny and Ryan's undeniable chemistry. It's delivered so much more than that.

what aaron is doing or did in past after becoming gordon's victim is usually how a sexually abused victim behaves. chas keeps on asking him why he never said but at that point aaron was not even mature enough to understand what a physical relationship is let alone sexual abuse and that too by his own dad. as he grew up, he starting understanding what happened back then and first thing he felt was probably shame and guilt that he did nothing to stop it. hence the self loathing and being gay just added to it. self destructive behavior and the emotionally messed up psyche was the ultimate result

I hadn't watched Aaron's storyline for a long time... since all the stuff with Jackson happened actually and then I stumbled upon a clip and then a music video adn a comment with something about Aaron having been raped and I just had to find out what the bloody hell was going on and now about two hours later I'm here watching these clips and MY GOD!! I'm totally hooked. Like what the hell could he be sorry for????? Poor Aaron! And he is probably also feeling bad for hurting his mum, but he didn't do anything wrong. That monster of a dad did. Sabrina The Witch Reads The bit about loving his dad is typical of abusive relationships - the emotional manipulation is huge. Kids love and trust their parents unconditionally, so Aaron would've believed Gordon when he said it was Aaron's fault. If someone hurts you, you can't just stop loving them, it's not that simple. The way people who are abused tend to deal with that (reinforced by the abuser's manipulation) is to blame themselves, especially as Aaron was a powerless child, he'd have felt there was nothing he could do, so self blaming is the only way to continue to live with the situation, with the person. And Aaron had hero worshipped his dad until then, the only way he could make sense of it in his head would be to believe it was his own fault, so he could continue to trust in and think if his dad as "good". His dad was the only emotional anchor he had (especially with his mum leaving) so to lose that would've been unbearable

5 parts, it's been a while since I have been so mad that I could grind my teeth, that bastard Gordon was smug and empowered by the misery he cause Aaron and Chaz, I am glad she punched him, he just had no remorse at all. The worse part about this is that Aaron and Chaz have had law problems so they don't look super credible going to court. Honestly they don't have it in them, to drag it out that way. I couldn't be happier to see Robert opening himself up to Aaron and just bring there, Aaron is tough we know that, it's just good to be and feel loved, that Robert has seen all of Aarons baggage and wants to carry it with Aaron. I hate that Chaz had to go through all of that too, I know we give her hell, yet it's always has to be a parents worse nightmare to find out your child was abused and you thought they were safe. Still Chaz punched Gordon and that's good in my books. Now all I have left to wonder is who is going to kill Gordon, Cain was pissed because he couldn't do it that night. I won't count Chaz out because she feels guilty and I bet she would cut him good, and then there is Robert, who I discovered tried to put a hit on Chaz back in many episodes ago. I fear that Gordon won't leave easily or quietly.

Ugh that has just given me a thought - what if Cain attacks Gordon viciously (which we know he will) and then Gordon goes to the police. He's that arrogant that he might - like he said, he can just deny any allegations and no one can prove anything. Cain would be up in court, Aaron would be dragged into it and everyone would find out (and as is always the case in soapland, it will blow up and some point and become public knowledge). Aaron would hate that. Probably a fair few people wouldn't believe him then either

1joehigg Gordon raped Aaron, and he's probably straight. Raping an 8-y.o. boy isn't necessarily about sexual orientation. It can be about anger, aggression, power, & control. Rape isn't just a sexual act; it's an act of violence. We and the writers know he raped Aaron from Gordon's confession, and he's either straight or bisexual. Where's the fable in what we have so far?
