I did a chrysler key this same way. The key worked fine until after I renewed it. It would program to the car but the buttons wouldn't work. Have you seen this?

Either bad key or wrong fcc id for the it sounds like.

From my experience - OEM key is nearly impossible to disassemble unlike this one, and regular OEM GM flip keys (not smart keys) can not be unlocked with ANY inexpensive programmers (VVDI, KEYDIY, MK3 clone etc.). After unlocking attempt OEM key stops working COMPLETELY. If anyone had luck with OEM keys - please let me know.

@@ScottSeabrook Adapters do work. But not all keys can be properly renewed with included files.

Shawn Godsey on newer GM vehicles when you do all keys lost you have to learn two keys into the car like fords it won’t start.

@@russej02 ahh so another words you make the customer a “2nd key” but essentially you are just giving them 1 new key and you renew that remote to use the next time? Sorry I am new and starting out! Also, I see you have the cradles. If you purchase the renew “soldering” cable, it will still renew the remotes, you just have to solder and the de-solder each connection instead of having a nice easy cradle correct? P.S. any chance you’d want to sell your IM508? 😄😉 had to ask

Shawn Godsey that’s exactly it. Always try and sell them two but they’re expensive and people usually decline. Used car lots ALWAYS decline lol.

Especially 2 girls I went to high school with their dad owns a used car lot and I told him if he’d give me all his business we’d work out a deal. I get a couple calls a day from them. Good place to start if any!

What aftermarket key are you unlocking? adapters are meant for oem keys

I had tried some aftermarket fobik keys. I just trash them now. Not even worth messing with

@@russej02 most after market keys have a completely different circuitry and are not compatible with the xhorse adapter set but if you know what the pin out locations on each aftermarket keys circuit board then you can solder to the key and unlock it that way.
