Last week I just ran a validation on a new batch of hunting ammo. new Lapua brass, 140 NOS BT Hunting, just a bit more than 41gr H4350 and FED LR primers out of a clean #4 24" BRUX with 1000 rounds down the tube and got 2738fps, max deviation 6fps and SD 2.2. 30 years ago I did extensive load development with the 4350 powders and 165 grain bullets.Turns out the H4350 produced the best consistency and groups, been a fan since.

Your comment about other saying you can't push H-4350 beyond 40gr is interesting because Hornady actually use to put the recommended load on the box of 41.5gr and my ballistics software shows this is a very safe load. Thought the latest Lyman manual says 40.2 oh the joys of reloading LOL. That's why we need people like you around though I need everyone to be safe and test your own loads in YOUR RIFLE. Nice video.

I use the H4350 and have shot up to 42.5 gr with very very little pressure signs. Also the SW4350 I used didn’t group as well for me, however my 25-06 and 243 love it

This was a VERY informative video. EXCELLENT JOB! All the powders did well, but good old IMR-4350 is definitely more than holding its own!

IMR4350 works best in your rifle at the temperature it was tested at, yet I suspect that because H4350 is less temperature sensitive that it would prove to be the most consistant over time. I would forgo all the performance advantages that other powders provide, and would use the most temperature stable powder to ensure the best accuracy at all temperatures. In NW Montana, we often see 30 to 50 degree changes in temperature from day to night, and differences in summer to winter of 70 to 90 degrees at the extreme end.

Love shooting both the 6 and 6.5 creedmoor, so I try to stay stocked up on all 3 of those. With 140 grain bullets in the 6.5, I’ve had better results with the Accurate and the IMR. On a side note, my 6.5 will not shoot the Barnes MB worth a damn, no matter what I try, so I shoot the Hornady BTHP or the ELD-M. With the 6mm, I shoot the 115 DTAC’s and H4350. INCREDIBLE results! Was doing a tuner test the other day, and when I got to setting “4”, first 2 shots went through the same hole, so I kept shooting to see if it was going to open up. The last 12 rounds I had loaded up shot a group under .75”, with an SD of 4.

I tested AA IMR and H4350 My results were simular at 40.7 41. 41.2 and 41.5. I had lower velocity with AA and case fill issues with IMR over 41.0. I've loaded H with no issue for years. I had 1100 hornady 140 ELDM sitting and bought 500 Barns 145 MB. Using s&b brass and I use fed 215 mag primers for great SDs and ESs. I'm running an 3rd gen RPR with a m24 proof barrel. Ram shot looks perfect on paper but I was scared of spherical powder and I had purchased the 500 match burners, 6#s of AA and 3#s Of IMR so I was in far enough. I've always wanted the Uintah upper since I saw it on your Chanel. Thanks for your test results.

Have you tried 4451? shoots good for me with the same set-up and similar 140g bullets. RL-17 seems to do better but dirtier than 4451

Also, with Shooters World Lovex powders…the Long rifle is closer H4350 than their SW4350. Quote from them: Folks often ask us for alternatives to H4350, which is the fastest of the 4350 derivatives on the market. Quite simply, Long Rifle is our alternative to H4350. It is only slightly faster than H4350.

Great test! The comparison not tested here is using temperature variation tests to see which powder stays more consistent with varying temperatures, especially from cold to very hot. The H4350 is touted to be very temperature insensitive and should do the best, but I'm curious if that is in fact the case.

I really liked this video. Awesome amount of work went into it. Very much appreciate your work on this project. You had me at IMR4350 because that's been my powder of choice ever since I first loaded it in the early 70s. In fact at one time my reloading "motto" was "If I can't load it with IMR 4350, I don't need it or want it." I do have some H4350 on the shelf in the reloading room, but none of it has made it into a case.

Ty..we need more Data for accurate 4350 with 6.5 creedmoor.there's plenty out there for H4350,and imr 4350..but very little for accurate 4350 and considering it's the cheapest powder and times are tough that's the one I Wana learn the most about..I have a can of it,I've loaded up some 130 TMKs but haven't had the chance to shoot group, and crono them yet..

I pulled Bullets from last year‘s 140 ELd match ammo from Hornady and found that there was a ball powder in there of 43 grains that wont cycle an A.R. 10 I always ran 42 g h4350 in one of my 65 barrels but most of them will easily run 41 1/2 rains without pressure so must be during this powder shortage Hornady has changed powders because Its not the stick powder of 4350 and are using some type of ball powder. Possibly superformance according to the load book it was the one that lined up but could have been an off brand of ball powder.

Because the Barnes 140 is likely longer that an eldm there for pressure could be higher depending on seating depth and throat dimension. Also brass can make a difference.

Depends on brass. Hornady brass has more internal volume compared to Lapua or Alpha brass. My Lapua brass will be severely compressed after 41 grains with a 140 grain pills

Excellent test and equally excellent results. Appreciate the data. I am curious if the temperature stability properties of H4350 effects not only velocities but also SD/ES & "accuracy"? I have the most experience with IMR4350 over the years in my 7 Mags and a bit in 30/06 and even some in 243. I have always been very pleased and impressed with accuracy. It is only the past decade that I have used a chronograph. The H4350 seems to provide a bit more velocity while IMR4350 has given more consisten SD/ES #s over various charge rates(especially in 7 Mag). They are pretty equal in accuracy. H4350 likes to be near max accross the board in my experience. Everything tightens up as you get closer to max. But IMR4350 doesn't have as much agreement among the manuals as to exactly where max is at though in 7mm Rem Mag. If I have the choice I tend to get H4350 for the temperature stability if nothing else. I have tested it and it is a real thing. Thank you.

I don't have a 65 but your information was great. I do shoot IMR 4350 in my 243 and always have. However I'm currently in need of powder and my local store wants $70 a pound and $65 online for IMR 4350, so I'm trying to find an alternative and was thinking of the H4350. Great and abundant info 👍Thanks.

A4350 is the most accurate in my rifle, but H4350 is so close it doesn’t make much difference. It takes 2.5 to 3 grains more A4350 to match the speed of H4350 though. I’ve had good luck with Accurate powders. Cheaper and more available as a general statement.

If you had to relive your rifle journey, how would you build your perfect rifle. You've had many of guns if you could look back would you do things differently to save time and money with all youve learned. Would you buy factory, or an custom action with interchangeable barrel system?
