Hi, i used fiberglass from aliexpress, just type fiberglass cloth tape, its nothing special, fiberglass cloth 200g/m2 plain weave, any type of fiberglass cloth will work… Epoxy is some German brand named Skresin, i have it available near me, but any lower viscosity laminating epoxy would work, for example West System or easy composites, even epoxy ea40 if you heat it a little bit to lower viscosity

Need some insight, I'm making a similar bow and considering spiral wrapping the recurve portion of the bow about 26 cm / 10 in with carbon fiber to strengthen and keep it from delaminating. Is there a point to this? Any reason not to do it? The target weight it's about 44lbs , using 4mm efg 130cm long
@Helmbowman6 ай бұрын
If its non working recurve like this in my video, there is no need, but if its a working recurve, you can do that… I like to overbuild everything so i does wrapping even on some static recurves 😂 it adds little bit of weight, but not enough to hurt performance.
@jarchdm6 ай бұрын
@@Helmbowman thank you I'll give it a go my last one delaminated so I made sure that there was absolutely no unglued voids and it looks good but this time I want to over build to make sure. I'm honing in on the type of bow I like to make after many iterations. I've tried to do a takedown but found the bow much weaker shooting compared to a whole bow of same draw weight. Hoping to try again with your method. Thanks for being thorough with the videos showing how to build that part in your other videos.

@@Helmbowman just one last question you think it's ok to use normal cheap fibre glass epoxy for the wrap? The one I use for the bow seems too thick and too expensive..😁
@Helmbowman6 ай бұрын
@@jarchdm Its ok to use that, you can brush on epoxy on portion of the bow that you want to wrap, and than wait some time for epoxy to become really tacky, that wrap dry carbon fiber strand, and now you can brush new epoxy over it. The tacky epoxy will secure carbon fiber really good as you wrap it… I find this process best for wrapping

The limb is 30mm at the fades and does not taper till mid limb, them it starts to taper to 20 mm at the beginning of static tips and for next 50mm it rapidly tapers to 14mm and continue to taper gradually to 10mm at the nocks. The thickness to static tips is 8mm
