ik this is an old episode but i totally get where natasha is coming from. my love language is also gift giving. not because i’m materialistic, but because i believe that being loved is being known and that a good gift is usually something that proves how much somebody knows you. that being said, i think baking a cake for somebody is very sweet and i personally would consider that a gift.
@carrieberg38234 жыл бұрын
Listen it's hard to buy someone a gift during the pandemic. I felt like i had such few options for my boyfriend this week. BUT it is the though that counts. I'm on Moshe's side.

LA was definitely a unique place for the Pandemic, I was in college at the UofA and it was paradise. It was as if nothing happened and no one gave a shit about covid because we were all in the age range where it could not hurt us; we only cared if we were near people we cared about that could get severely ill from COVID, but no one has relatives living in Tucson. The only difference was places closed earlier and locals stayed in, which is great because students don't want to see Tucson locals in the first place.

Kind of weird, especially since this is so old, but Garret, I think all your aunt wants you to do is to forgive her. And maybe to be cautious. The rest of it, is between the two of them. CSA is no joke, and when kids are the perpetrator it gets even harder. Your dad probably had his own CSA experience. You don't have to make an opinion about either of them, right away. It's okay to be uncomfortable for a while and that's the end of it.

I see her point about packages coming in. Also...a cake is NO WAY a fuckin gift. Doing shit like making breakfast in bed, cooking dinner if you don't have the money to go out, and doing shit just to make the day special is all part of it....but there is a PHYSICAL ITEM you give your loved one that you put thought into. That way years down the road they still have it
@brennam9543 жыл бұрын
I agree. The item could be really small too; like a little bottle of perfume or a bath set. Something personal that you think she would like. If you're not sure, get her a gift card to her favorite store. The cake definitely is thoughtful though, Moshe. You get points for that.

I've read a lot about pedophiles and "they" say they never stop. This, " oh, he's changed" is so dangerous. And the fact that he "found religion" in prison doesn't mean anything either, churches are rife with pedos.
@brennam9543 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Unless they get professional therapy - and only then, perhaps. But if not, no, they likely haven't changed, even if they think they have. Definitely not worth the risk though. It does kind of make me wonder if the father was sexually abused when he was young.

There is an interesting paper on US National Library of Medicine titled "Child perpetrators--children who molest other children: preliminary findings" that may be of interest. Below is the abstract. "While the seriousness of sexual abuse by adolescents is finally beginning to receive adequate attention from the professional community, the existence of child perpetrators is largely dismissed and denied. Forty-seven boys between the ages of 4 and 13 are described who have molested children younger than themselves. Coercion was involved in all of the cases included in this study. These children had been treated in a program especially designed for child perpetrators at Children's Institute International in Los Angeles. Prior to their own sexually abusive behaviors, 49% of these boys had been sexually abused and 19% physically abused. The children all knew the people who victimized them. These male child perpetrators all knew the children they molested. In 47% of the cases the sexual abuse was of a sibling. The average number of victims of these children was 2.1 with a range of 1 to 7. The mean age at the time of perpetration was 8 years, 9 months. The mean age of the victims of these children was 6 years, 9 months. There was a history of sexual and physical abuse in the majority of the families of these children, as well as a history of substance abuse. This population is compared to adolescent perpetrators." It's possible that the father was abused as well. Which may or may not complicate the situation even more... This isn't meant to excuse his behavior btw. It just seems that child on child abuse is a wildly complicated subject. Does anyone know if the abusive behavior continues into adulthood?
@inachristine4 жыл бұрын
There is a difference in abused children mimicking sexual acts vs taking on the role of the aggressor, ie identifying with their abuser. 13 is young enough to suggest he’d been abused himself (that’d be true for abusers of any age) but 13 also implies there was a sexual payout for him. This would eliminate the possibility of him doing sexual acts with his younger sister as being an issue of undefined boundaries. They said it’d happened three times with the aunt, but once would be enough to draw the line in keeping him away from the children.

I have to stick up for Moshe on the birthday thing, Natasha. For someone to make a cake -from scratch for the first time- is pretty damn awesome and romantic. He also made you dinner? Yeah, let it go. Besides don't we all have enough 'stuff'? Laughing my ass off now as I write this, Moshe starts begging for people to stick up for him. Just saw this episode is a year old and am now wondering if you are still pissed off at him.
