Fuckin' Delilah being the downfall of Samson, or the war over Helen of Troy, ending up Achilles's last stand. M nights grounded superhero trilogy is flat out poetic in every way; this man should be very proud of what he had accomplished from unbreakable to glass, everything has come full circle. If Night was in my presence right now, I would shake his hand because I and many others appreciate the stories he tells because of their deeper meanings and there’s always people shitting on him because of societies’ set expectations when it comes to shattering the *glass* to take risks, but that doesn’t mean every other superhero movie should be condemned, if it’s great it should be rewarded of its success but, m. Night has taught be that nobody should be afraid to take risks because something very poetic could come out the other side.

Yeah but David and Glass are still opposites as well, Glass’s greatest weakness is his bones, they are as fragile as can be and can break from a touch and Dunn’s greatest strength is his bones are literally unbreakable
@WakenerOne6 жыл бұрын
Try _this_ on for size: When everyone considers the title _Unbreakable,_ they always point to David's unbreakable body versus Elijah's fragile one. But Dr. Staple was able to cause David and several of Kevin's alters - including _Patricia and Dennis, the founding members of The Horde,_ to doubt the veracity of their metahuman abilities. The only person she never got to for a moment was Elijah. She wasn't able to _break_ Elijah. Who's "unbreakable" *_now???_*
@johnnybravo81296 жыл бұрын
WakenerOne I mean that’s an interesting theory but the movie is called unbreakable because David’s bones are literally unbreakable. Also you said they never got to Elijah for a moment or made him doubt himself. That’s false. He admits himself at the end of the movie that they almost had him convinced he was crazy. After David’s son tells the beast the truth about his fathers death, mr glass says “don’t you see I created you, it just took a little longer. 19 years, they almost had me convinced I was crazy” and you can see the way he cracks up with a smile and tears because even he began to doubt himself.
@WakenerOne6 жыл бұрын
I do wish you had pointed out how the supporting characters all have heroic moments entirely in keeping with their attitudes throughout the whole series. Mrs. Price (who does a perfect job showing that though she is horrified by what her son has done, still loves him) is clearly key in figuring out Elijah's plan and getting it to Casey and Joseph. Casey shows that she is immune to the power of The Beast and seeks him out - not to hurt the Beast or his Horde, but to once and for all do what they could not. She does not protect Kevin, she strengthens him, just as he strengthened her. And Joseph . . . what can I say? How many people missed this??? In Unbreakable, he tries to stand up to bullies messing with a schoolmate. He realizes that he's not like his dad; he has no super powers. He resigns himself to being the sidekick, the voice in the hero's ear. But in the climactic battle between the gods among us, what does he do? _He jumps, _*_without hesitation,_*_ between The Beast and The Overseer, even though the Beast can squash him like a fly, and he turns the tide of the battle._ Even Elijah recognizes that it derails his plan. The ordinary boy who couldn't protect his schoolmate because he's "not like" his father now steps in to protect superheroes.
@AfifZulkifli6 жыл бұрын
"The voice in the heroes ear.." I thought this as well when I saw the scene where Joseph was reading the comic book titled The Whisperer. This might be foreshadowing that his superpower might be voice related. Also Caseys superpower might be healing (love) as her scenes often focuses on her hands.

Sentry man vs jaguaro. The black clover is actually the Shamrock herb, native to Ireland, green though of course and taken by Irish St. Patrick as a symbol of the holy trinity. The Irish are also famous for their red hair...a feature of Dr. Staple. I would say the society is a Roman Catholic religious society that originated in Ireland, believing as you said that no gods should walk among us. This movie is absoulutly beautiful and by far my favorite movie of all time.

No one noticed that Kevin‘s dad was reading a D.I.D book well on the train. So does that mean Kevin’s dad already knew what his son had? That’s why he left? I’m surprised no one has mentioned this
@johnnybravo81296 жыл бұрын
Pred because it was explained in the movie......it wasn’t something no one noticed lmao David’s son clearly explains to the beast how Kevin’s dad didn’t just get on a train to never come back. He got on the train to go find a place where he could get his wife help. The D.I.D book was to show us that he cared and was trying to find help, instead he was killed in the train accident caused by mr glass. Then mr glass explains how if he never destroyed the train then Kevin’s dad would’ve never died and left Kevin behind with his psycho abusive mother thus leading to Kevin’s suffering creating the beast. It was explained in the movie so it’s not really considered something that one would miss

that scene when u see mr glass as a kid at the theme park and he gets on that ride was actually a deleted scene from unbreakable and it was the scene that took the most amount of effort.

A couple other things I noticed when watching Glass is that a lot of the vernacular used throughout the film is "amazing", "fantastic", "marvelous". A lot of the same words used when describing superheroes ("The Amazing Spiderman, etc.") Another thing I found interesting is that the date 1874 was used twice throughout the film, once when David Dunn is entering his own house and another time it's brought up by the psychologist. I'm not sure if this date has any specific relevance or not, it could be eluding to the date the first zoo in the U.S. opened (coincidentally the Philadelphia Zoo). I'm sure there's more symbolism dispersed throughout the film but hats off to Shyamalan for a great film overall, the critics online are being too ridiculous lol.

It's interesting that Elijah's first comic was the Protector in green versus The Orange Beast with the caption "Limited Edition." But at the End of Glass Elijah told his mother "it's not a limited edition it's an origin story." This was his first ever comic and the origin of his belief. Craziness.....

When Joseph finds the comic that leads him to look into Kevin’s parents it’s called something like “The Whisperer” which I think is a nod to Dr. Staple.

16:47 The color scheme was foreshadowed in the first movie- David is green, Kevin is yellow and Elijah is purple. The comic book cover also hinted the final showdown between David and Kevin. Also the concept of a “limited edition” comic was mentioned several times in Glass.

@@CZsWorld I have to disagree. You obviously get a lot of comments, so if you haven't seen any of mine, it's understandable. But in your other videos, you never discuss the importance of _red_ in these films. In the special features of _Unbreakable,_ Night didn't even _talk_ about the importance of purple and green other than to say that he wanted to stay away from primary colors being associated with the heroes. But he talks a LOT about red . . . and you _don't._ Moreover, let's consider the primary/secondary colors thing. Though there are exceptions (the Thing, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, The Spectre), most heroic characters - especially early ones have their costumes themed around primary colors (Superman, Captain Marvel, Captain America, The Angel (not the X-man . . . but the X-Men, too), The Atom. I could go on. Antiheroes (The Incredible Hulk comes immediately to mind) and villains often have their costumes designed around secondary colors. How many of Spider-man's rogues gallery wear green, or green and purple? Galactus. Lex Luthor, before the Byrne reboot. The Mandarin. Doctor Doom. The Joker. Shyamalan deliberately chose to reverse this trope when he made his main characters be associated with secondary colors. You may say, "But Glass is a _villain!"_ True. But we didn't *_know_* he was a villain until the end of the movie. We were encouraged the whole time to think that he was the mentor. Now, along comes The Beast, and _his_ color is a _primary_ rather than a secondary. Night has reversed the chromatic trope completely. You don't go into that.
@CZsWorld6 жыл бұрын
@@WakenerOne Good thinking -- I think I've subconsciously noticed that Green and Purple are somewhat unorthodox choices for the two main characters. It's very similar to how he chose unorthodox character archetypes for The Happening. You'd expect an action bulky hero and a busty girl in that type of film, and instead he uses a science teacher and while Zooey Deschanel is very lovely, she's more of the cute nerdy type. I think there are other examples in his filmography where he deliberately went against the status quo.
@WakenerOne6 жыл бұрын
@@CZsWorld Oh, absolutely! A clergyman as the main character in an alien invasion film??? A film where the town leaders openly admit several times that they are cowards, and it's the next generation who shows the courage that the elders wish they had (not to mention it being a film wherein *every* young person, _without exception, _*_always_* shows proper respect for his or her elders?!?!?) Pretty much *everything* about _The Sixth Sense!_ Night lives outside the box.

I would say that Mr. Glass's opposite is Dr.Staple. A staple is strong and resilient it binds things together. Glass fractures and severs it's delicate. Mr. Glass has the iconic part in his fro on his right and Dr.Staple has a part on her left. She's dedicated to getting rid of superheroes he wants to make more of them.

I wonder if their will be more superhero/villain movies by M. Night, considering Glass was explaining to Patricia the concept of the strongman being from the 1930s. Surely he didn't know he was a super, but a freak instead, and just maybe by Elijah reavealing them to the world for the first time sets perspective for DDs character and lots more characters to come.

*Great analysis vid again on this trilogy Mr. CZ! Just got out of Mr. Glass...my 2nd viewing, and I really dig the film even more than my first watch - LOVE the score, loved the use of deleted scenes from Unbreakable, I think Kasey is "special" too (touching calmness is her power maybe?), loved the camera work, and my new fave revealed Team Horde member was Mr. Pritchard film history professor (specifically Japanese cinema 1950 to 1980 lol)...anyway I just really dug how this trilogy finished, it was in line with the world Unbreakable set-up way back when in 2000, it gave the audience some of the genre expectations having been "trained" via the SH genre film boom post Unbreakable, and the subversive choices M. Night used for this Mr. Glass Endgame story & the main characters worked well, and McAvoy is just so great as The Horde again!

There were elements in 'Glass' that came from other films: 'Die Hard' starring Bruce Willis as John McClane a police officer (guardian) running around with no shirt and shoes, hiding in the ceiling dropping down to kill, like the beast. He even spends time talking to himself throughout the film like the horde. The final battle takes place on top of Nakatomi Plaza, a fictional location in L.A. but it is a real research center located in Osaka Japan. The final battle in 'Glass' was to take place on top of the Osaka tower a fictional location in Philadelphia. I noticed other things like recreated shots from 'The Sixth Sense' in 'Split' and 'Glass'.

I just watched Glass yesterday and really liked it. I have been watching all the "things you missed" videos. One thing I noticed, that no one else has pointed out is in the need for David and Kevin's "kryptonites" in the mental hospital. If they truly believed David was a normal human being, the need for the water jets and the steel door was completely unnecessary. A normal human being wouldnt be able to escape their room. The same goes for the lights in Kevin's room. What doesnt make sense, is the fact they knew the lights could suppress The Beast, yet they didnt feel it necessary for a steel door, just in case.
