You notice he got 3 main points very wrong in his review? 1st: it was high powered water hoses with strong pressure to subdue David, not sprinklers. 2nd: Staples didn't tell Elijah he was wrong, she told him to go in peace knowing that he was RIGHT about superheroes and about comics documenting history but he just didn't account for the secret organisation plotting to keep them undercover (or so she thought). Lastly: Staples therapy wasn't a ruse at all, she states that the company only uses the gun if all other methods fail and also that they r not murderers. Btw, beast doesn't bear hug Elijah, he crushes his shoulder and palm strikes his stomach. Another point u got wrong was: Staples actually told David that she wasn't gonna cum after him but then the horde showed up and she knew they were gonna clash and cause a scene so she had to stop them before the public saw them. That's also y she ordered all the patients in the facility to b kept away from the windows facing the showdown. I emplore u to re watch the movie coz I'm pretty sure the above points were how I stated and not how u did.... btw I mean no offence or any negativity from this comment I swear. I'm just a subscriber making sure one of my favourite channels r getting their facts straight :-) peace and love to u all

Agreed. Unfortunately. As many actors in Hollywood have said. The awards are often based more on public approval of the movie than they are of an individual performance. I think this is literally McAvoys greatest performance. And I don’t mean this one film. I mean his portrayal as a psychotic person with multiple personality disorder. If it were this series or another. His performance was right up there with Sean Penn in “I am Sam” and Dustin Hoffman in “Rainman”. He killed it. Seeing him in the trailer for “Dark Phoenix” immediately made me think to myself. “Easy money for Jame McAvoy”. Because he nails a young professor X as well. But after seeing his range in these movies. Nowhere near the acting ability he had to show as the hoard.

@@Sefcax No it was perfect as that's a psychological trauma that even Superhumans are not spared from feeling. The role of the psychologist is actually brilliant cause she was also right. Despite her role being a ultimate lie in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean the points she gave were not true. Glass agrees with this when he talks to Kevin. Alot of extraordinary things can be explained down with the basis of Science but that doesn't change the overall facts that these people do IN Fact have extraordinary abilities. Out of a possible 7 billion people and they're the only ones with these abilities? That is infact super human esque given the landscape.

IN THE DEFENSE OF GLASS... This Movie Isn't Supposed To Be An Epic MCU Or DCEU Superhero Movie Where The Heroes And Villains Go Out In A Blaze Of Glory. This Is An "What If These Real Individuals Had Extraordinary Gifts In Our Mundane World" So He They All Died In A Pretty Mundane Way. ALSO...The Reason He Escaped The Tank Was Because He Was Able To Break It Underwater. When He Drowned In The Puddle He Couldn't Escape Because He Had NO LEVERAGE! It Doesn't Matter How Strong You Are, If You Take Away Someone's Leverage By Holding Their Head Down, They Can Move And Fight All They Want, They Aren't Escaping.

I agree, M. Night Shyamalan made "realistic" heroes and villains. The organisation didn't want to make martyrs out of them. They didn't want anyone to see. That's why they stopped them from showing themselves publicly(before they could go to Osaka Tower). Mr. Glass was already dying. The Beast was Kevin at the time, so he wouldn't have been bulletproof(if he was). And David (I might be wrong here) I think he accepted his death after seeing the visions from Dr. Staple, he might have understood what the organisation stood for... Keeping the balance and peace.

@@mrmemeable546 the issue with David is water making him "weaker" was just wedged into this movie. Being able to drown in it is one thing but having it literally make him weak was just dumb and made no sense. In Unbreakable he has just gotten outta the pool and didn't seem all that weak. Hell in this movie he gets thrown in the water tank but still has enough strength to swing under water and break it from the inside? But then is too weak to fight back against a random thug? They really could have done a better job on that whole part. They could have at least used multiple random thugs that were still struggling to hold him down or something.

Lol yeah, i just finished watching it for the 1st time just now, and i turned to my girl when the Beast hit Glass, and i said "oh come on, dont have them break up their dangerous alliance AND possibly kill off Mr Glass NOW! They've got more mayhem to unleash".... lol, even Mr Glass himself said it, when David's son exposed that Elijah "killed" his father; "dont tell him ALREADY" i think he said, or "now".... But then i realized at the very end with the 3rd twist, that being evil and unleashing mayhem was never Elijah OR his alter ego Mr Glass' intention--- he wasn't a vicious, evil, mass murdering criminal. He was just a guy who believed something was true SO DEEPLY, that he was going to go to ANY lengths to expose it. In fact, I'll bet he never had any intentions of getting to that building and killing more people... it was all a ruse to throw them off of his real "record/stream it all, and get it on the web" plan

apa kek yg enak the thing is, Glass was exactly like a Marvel sequel - previous “origin” film characters coming together for the first time in a big team up movie. They’ve done that dating back to the Universal Monsters in the 1940s. This series usually takes conventional comic book tropes and subverts them and makes them more realistic, and he definitely did that with Glass, but imo the writing wasn’t as good as the first two movies, the “twist” came way too late and forced the film to confront an entirely new villain with only a few minutes left, and the experience felt somewhat incomplete yet with zero direction to follow up on. There seemed to be no point for the movie to exist.

To understand why the movie ended the way it did, pay close attention to Shyamalan’s penning: “This is not a cartoon. This is the real world”. And in the real world, ladies and gentlemen, people die. Humanity’s greed; quite specifically, their envy, will prevent those gifted from ever coming out of hiding. Mankind will find a way of destroying them, just like internet trolls found on this feed, shunning someone’s art. Nobody rates success as much as they’d like watching someone fall. Humanity didn’t want redundancy, hence killing those gifted without exposure. As soon as Mr Glass’ video surfaced online, we see Dr Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) scream because their organisation now knows they’re fighting a losing battle. Humans, sooner or later, will near extinction in evolution of those on the new spectrum; namely, Dunn’s spectrum. The ending, in my humble opinion, is an acquired taste - nevertheless - smart. The war has only just begun. “This was an origin story the whole time”.

I honestly had no hope whatsoever for this movie, but its actually really amazing to me. I honestly love this movie. I think people just automatically assumes that since its labeled as a ‘superhero’ movie they immediately have a pretty strong bias to what they think the story should be due to the fact that the genre is pretty much dominated by Marvel. Marvel movies are generally lighthearted in tone and although we occasionally have darker moments in the movie, it almost always ended up with a pretty happy ending not counting IW. Due to the nature of the films, superheroes in Marvel are also generally much more fantastic and... well, super. They also always have a clear cut winner in the end be it the heroes or in the case of Infinity War, the villain. And whenever there is death in a Marvel movie its usually not too consequential like Yondu and Freya, even in Infinity War we all know that most if not everyone will get revived in some way in Endgame. Compare that to the universe Glass takes place in, its a whole different set of rules. The ‘superheroes’ in Glass are way more grounded in reality (well as grounded as being bulletproof can be) compared to those of Marvel. In fact I’d argue they’re not even superheroes/villains, but rather regular people who just happens to have superpowers. The movie ends with a bittersweet victory, with the main characters dead while the existence of superhumans are now out in the open. This ending IMO is the exact opposite of a Marvel movie ending. Deaths that actually hold significant weight to the story, a sacrifice to pay for the ultimate goal and an ending with no clear cut winner. I honestly don’t think theres anything wrong with that. I think that with how saturated the superhero genre is with Marvel, people automatically thinks that if it doesn’t resemble a Marvel movie then its not a good movie. I mean look at Aquaman, which performs really well in cinemas because it follows the Marvel movie formula. I think that people came into the cinemas to watch Glass, expecting something similar to the Avengers, and was disappointed to learn that it isn’t an Avengers movie. Well of course you won’t be getting the Avengers feel from this movie, its not about kind-hearted and quirky gaggle of superheroes teaming up to save the world. Almost every critics I see rates this movie as horrible or disastrous or disappointing but at the same time whenever I see comments from someone who isn’t a movie critic they generally enjoy the movie. Don’t get me wrong there are unnecessary plots in Glass, like the secret clover organization thing, which we could do without. But honestly I don’t think people are treating this movie fairly... And as someone who absolutely loves the superhero/comicbook genre, its just a little disappointing to me that a lot of people are so opposed to changes and deviations from the standards. Then again maybe I’m just rambling, who knows.

I loved this movie man. To be honest the execution wasn’t on my mind when watching. But the story itself was. I love this story of all 3 movies. The limited, more logical and relatable super hero’s. Mr. Glass being that character that you can never truly figure out what he’s doing or what it part of his plans and what isn’t. The actor that plays Bruce’s son freaks me out cuz his pupils are huge or his eye are too dark making him look like a demon. Lol. But non the less, I hope this story continues and creates more super hero movies. These heros I find better than Marvel. Don’t forget what Glass said. It was all part of his plan. It wasn’t an ending, it was an origin story. I took this as the side characters will have powers or will be like Robin turning into Nightwing type of thing. Or based off what you said, maybe it’s the origin of all super hero’s. The origin of his next films. Maybe Glass was talking to the audience. Also I thought Glass spread the video to everyone and the loved ones were just sent it first. And I don’t see the secret society as being done. I see it as they will have to step out of the shadows and become more of a present. Maybe even getting into politics. As the secret capabilities of super humans are out, there will be more people coming to accept their powers and hone their skills instead of just shrugging it off as it was a cool fluke. So the society will have to take more blunt measures. The way I see this movie, it sets up the entire universe that there truly are super humans and a society that is out to stop them all. And what I like about these hero’s is that they have limits. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t Bruce’s weakness to water because of his trauma? Just like beating the beast is love and Kevin’s name which goes back to the trauma of his mother? Or it could be Bruce is like a rock and rocks sink in water. But I like the idea that the persons fears are their weakness. Makes them more human than hero. And dude I was pissed too when I saw them in therapy in the trailer. I was like there is so much evidence of Bruce’s strength and durability. Just try and cut him and watch the knife break lol. But then it wasn’t about convincing the shrink but the shrink making them doubt what they already know even with the amount of evidence they have in favor of themselves. No matter what one is confident in, there is always that tiny seed of doubt. And scratching that seed of doubt is one thing but if you can get someone to scratch their own doubts, you can manipulate them. It happens in politics, relationships, friendships. Everywhere. I could be just interpreting it all wrong but it’s a movie so let me enjoy it the way I see it. Lol. Also what I saw is that it looks like psyche does effect ones powers. Doubting ones self will reduce ones powers. Glass and Bruce’s powers do seem to be genetic. But kevins is all mental. If Bruce’s trauma is what causes his weakness then psyche does effect his powers. Which is just like real life. People who doubt themselves and can’t over come their demons are doomed to wallow in their own self loathing. It’s got that believe in yourself message is what I’m saying. Lol. The topic of hope and belief is a great topic that I personally love when conveyed in a clever way

Honestly, I agree with you. People dislike the movie because it went against the trope of superhero movies. Glass was pretty well done if you’re watching it with a different mindset. Heroes don’t always die heroically. That’s just realistic and also makes their deaths more tragic. That could’ve been a major blessing to the world, but the possibility has been snuffed out. In a way, I like to think that M. Night read Worm and that he wants to create a superhero franchise that’s gritty and grounded.

I’m very confused by everyone I’m seeing here saying “people didn’t like it because they were expecting a Marvel movie”. Who? Why world anyone expect that? It wasn’t marketed like that, it’s a sequel to Unbreakable/Split, so I’d assume most people who went to see it liked those films and since they’re not at all like Marvel movies, there’s no reason to be expecting a Marvel blockbuster. I wanted to see a good conclusion to two films I enjoyed, with David and Kevin as the main characters. What I got was a boring, unentertaining, and insulting end to a story that began 19 years ago, all that wait for this shit.

When people say they expect a Marvel movie, they mean the Marvel movie format. Heroes vs Villains with heroes teaming up with friends to overcome obstacles to grow into better people and defeat the villain (or in the case of Infinity War, get defeated by the villain). And from the looks of things, thats exactly what you expected too.

I didn’t want a marvel movie. Believe me I love Batman and all of th DC movies. And I’m a huge fan of th MCU as well. I knew what I was getting into bc I saw unbreakable when it came out and was blown away by how grounded and realistic this super hero movie was. But it was such a let down watching Glass. He had so much potential to create an epic conclusion but instead it felt lazy and just rushed out instead of rlly crafting something memorable and worthy of th universe he created with Unbreakable.

At the time this video was posted, it was 19 years since Unbreakable... now, 23-24 years.. i would give almost anything to be able to turn back the clock and be with my family again before my brother and i grew up, before my folks began to become elderly, before i knew how cold the world can be and how ceaseless the march of time is, as it waits for no one. I struggle with living in the present, and yearn more than ive indicated to here for nothing besides being with and doing things with my family. Im ever so slightly just over 3 years and a couple months away from turning 40. I wanted to grow up SO badly, first to be a teenager because they were just so cool in all the movies, then to turn 18 and "be an adult", from there i couldn't wait to turn 21 for obvious reasons, all the while, my folks, grandparents, elders around me said "dont grow up too fast, one day youll miss all of this" but i was more concerned with whatever the AOL chatrooms i was interested in were buzzing with, what my friends were doing tonight, if my crush would ever just like me back... never truly realizing that we get but a small handful of decades, and that i would, vehemently, miss the days when i was a kid and wish with all of my heart and soul that it hadnt gone by so fast. I guess, tho, its something we all must endure; nobody escapes the passage of time... 😔

Doing anything else with this movie would make it another superhero movie. This ending takes us on a different path and if he continues with this series it'll be interesting to see what happens. But the point of the movie was about legacy. David Dunn was human and went out like a human, but with the release of the videos he became a god that he could never be. Glass knew this and exploited it to spark something new.

I liked the movie a lot minus some specific things. Obviously it would be better if David stayed alive. His story arch was weak but not necessarily bad or a waste. I didn't like the inconsistency of how water affected David. In 'Unbreakable' David's weakness is that he can't swim cause the composition of his body and weight. But in 'Glass' water worked like kryptonite. That's a retcon that didn't work for me. I can stipulate that the end was underwhelming and there somo plo-tholes that can distract the attention of the viewer. But for me the movie was not a disappointment. I really try to avoid expectations for any movie. My only expectation is for a movie to be good enough for me to like. I never create expectations about wanting to see specific things in a movie. To feel excitement about a movie is okay but never if it becomes overhype. People should learn to manage better their excitement and expectations. That way they can appreciate a movie for what it is and not for what they wanted to see. If the people don't like the movie is fine but at least is because understandable reasons. That been said, fan or not of Shyamalan, I think he deserves credit to be willing to keep creating original films that stay away from the norm ('The Last Airbender' and 'After Earth' aside). A lot of people complain that cinema is saturated with franchises, sequels, reboots or remakes of known IP's but when a guy like Shyamalan make original stories with a distinctive style then he's label as an egocentric turd. I think that's not fair.
