Just get a guy out that does dustless blasting. It will take the paint and rust right off and leave a great surface to paint the next day. Very quick and better then sandblasting. Cost you maybe 400-500 bucks.

Love tat 379 you got with cat cant go wrong with it brother

Love that old truck and the way that cat engine fired right up. Taking care of all those surface cosmetic type items will make it look great again. Fresh rods and oil change with a valve adjustment sounds like a great plan. Nice to see Brittany learning the ropes too.

Hi Dan; Love your videos. I watch most on a Roku and it doesn't give you an option to like the videos, so I'm going back on my pc and liking them. Your videos are a nice night of entertainment, I select play all and sit back and watch one after another. Well, you stay safe and keep the videos coming, you are a super trucker. Take Care.

I can appreciate the wisdom of bringing the Peterbilt on line again. These trucks have withstood the test of time. A thorough mechanical overhaul and a lot of TLC ..... could serve you very well. I see a number of folks on the internet get started in trucking this way. You own this truck I imagine you are so far ahead and that the money you spend will come back to you in spades.

Happiness is happiness! However, I think you're emotions are gonna bite you. 1.2 million is a tired old gal, but if it makes you happy I hope it rolls another 1.2 million. I just think living on the road like you do an ultra loft/studio sleeper would be so much better. You old skoolers like my dad will never feel right unless you are in a classic styled big hood truck. I enjoy your vlogs keep it coming!

You don’t want to get an engine addicted to that ether, we used to use “easy start” on tractors in the winter before engine heaters back in the 60’s & 70’s. The engines got “addicted” to the stuff and would hardly start even in mild weather. 👍👍
@tysonfrank21054 жыл бұрын
A little sniff will not get it addicted.....
@daboo77254 жыл бұрын
If the ole girls got " addicted " to the start fluid, probably means they were getting wore out ( lower compression ) and close to a rebuild
@robertstewart12624 жыл бұрын
When my Shakaliner wore out , I hunted and found a glider. 98 Detroit in a 2012 Columbia. Paper logs and dependability. The old Pete sounds good Dan.

You ever thought of tuning and putting a new manifold, and a turbo to open her up and let er breath? Better airflow in and out= better MPG, especially with a tune! Im sure PDI can help out in that department with your CAT

Dan do a oil sample and send it in before the rods and mains. Let you know how cam and other stuff is..👍👍👍👍 Needler does a great job on rust.
@edbutton94454 жыл бұрын
Very good advice. Oil sample every 10K miles. Inexpensive way to know what's happening internally. Trans and rears too.

Hey Dan you might want to pickup a clay bar to go over your truck. That will help remove the oxidation and other stuff from the paint. Should be able to pick one up at walmart or parts house where they sell car wax and stuff.

Super Trucker Dan, don't want to be a hater, but, after a Cat engine sits for a long time without running. The lower o-ring seals on the cylinder liners will get hard and start leaking after being put back into service. I was a mechanic for Cat for 27 years and saw it happen alot.

Dan, good luck with the 6NZ back on the road. Mercer is a great company. Went to school with the guy who was head of contractor relations. Are you calculating and tracking your revenue per mile with the 579? And your ownership and operating cost per mile. Without these impossible to know the health of your business. If you know these, consider letting your viewers know. Good advertisement for Mercer. Easy to set up a spread sheet and just plug in numbers weekly. You can do it.
@pauldietrich4784 жыл бұрын
Dan, If you are going to get a needle scaler get a good one, the ones from Harbor Freight are junk. Are you going to run 2 trucks ?.....
