It's probably a bit late now and you may have already done it, but the B/RB Mopars like a 1/2" oil pickup tube which is 426 Hemi size.* The block has to be drilled and the hole chased down to the bottom to increase the cross sectional area of the hole. It's worth looking into where it goes into the oil pump on the oil pump face side of the block and clean it all up with a die grinder and drill it there too to meet the 1st gallery you just drilled. The gains on the pressure side are less significant than those on the suction side. If you do this small mod you can get away with a stock style pump (with a stiffer pressure relief spring) since essentially all that's pushing the oil up the suction side is atmospheric pressure. Mopar still makes these pumps new AFAIK (probably from China but still). Most of what i just told you is straight out of the Mopar engine book. *Many Hemi parts fit on big Block Mopar engines as they're almost but not quite the same block. Hemi is cross bolted in the 3 center main caps and the deck has ears cast on the cylinder deck in the valley area for a row of studs in the head to engage and the nuts are screwed and tightened from the lifter side - essentially the nuts are upside down and tightened with a ring spanner attachment to your torque wrench if you know what I mean.

mostly curiosity but do know how the mopar nascar / old school hot roders used stock 426 hemispheric heads on 383 b-bocks ? ( there is a magazine article on how to do that from the 90s aka the dark age of not being able to get hemi / rb parts ) not looking for power as the bottom end / block / and of corse it did damage my 904~ heads ( valves are sneezed up ) :( is a little junky ( fluid damage / vandalism ) but will let me drive it around town as a 2 back up car and nothing much else but my new iron hemi heads aren't and im getting inpatient waiting on my wallet to catch up

I wish my shop would stay that clean! I think I have half the space with twice the stuff! cut it and weld it, that's what I would do!

For the oil pick up: Is there a straight horizontal section where You could cut out a section & weld versus trying to weld upon a section that is going to be turned counter clockwise ? Though by date of vid, this thought may be too old. Nice Job Though !!!

What heads do you have? Any port work done for the $1600?
@Jpaydirt
@Jpaydirt 7 жыл бұрын
They are Edelbrock RPM, the ports were given a good clean up and a multi angle valve job, I don't think it was $1600 though I believe that was for everything, cam bearing install, machining the cam thrust clearance , plane the intake to fit the heads properly, gap the piston rings and probably some others things, oh yes the cam drive cover
