I am responding to the statement where he said the Europeans of today were not the ones who did the enslaving and that the Africans /Americans of today were not alive then However, the monetary, the legacy, the privilege is very must still alive today, and those that benefit then are benefiting now. My point was that if they weren't around when it is considered America's shame, a negative, why should they reap the positive benefits. You can't say we weren't the ones who enslaved, yet you're the descendants reaping the reward. So, decline the money and the privilege. If the whole rebuttal is you weren't born, then.

Francis Kemble, the British woman who married Butler and wrote Journal of a Residence on a Georgian Plantation 1838-1839, wrote many letters to her sister in England. In one such letter describing the slaves her husband owned and how they lived, she interestingly said "I swear these wretched people are every bit as slovenly as the Irish." I remember reading her book many years ago. I believe that's a fairly accurate quote which gives some idea of class distinctions in the British Isles.

We should celebrate any shade of Black rising to the highest posts. I used to frequent Hollywood Park casino around Los Angels. I knew an Ethiopian dealer who told me about the lady living with her grandmother back home. She is our slave she tells me; I bit my tongue not wanting to stop her story. "Is this still common"? "Many families have them" her calmness gave me the willies. Slavery was alive and well in the Caribbean! it's still practiced today in the Dominican Republic. Next time you enjoy a cup of coffee know there's a 98% chance the sugar came from Batey plantations in the Dominican produced by enslaved Haitians. Willie Lynch perfected his breaking of slaves on the Islands. It was so important to Southern slave holders, that they paid over 800,000 for his system. We suffered around the world my brother. Mitch McConnell says "we" elected an African American president? Yeah Mitch, nobody is buying that. The first thing you all did (you and your rethuglican buddies) was to have a meeting to discuss every possible way to prevent Obama from accomplishing anything. We see you Mitch.

For someone to say such a thing Mr.McConnell says a lot about White America, but a simple answer to your question who's responsible? your Ancestors are responsible and the debt is still owed until this very day. Once you know your history many answers become clear.

The freed slaves who joined the British during the revolutionary war ended they escaped to an island off the Savannah River and it took a second militia attack to clean them out of their fortified community. They never gave up on rebelling and escaped to Florida, petitioned the king of Spain. Accepted by the Seminoles There’s a WS homeless camp in Savannah.
